《The Rising of a God》The pave you will go

There I was eating my book and starting the first page of it. I seemed quite interesting to me because it had some basic knowledge and as far as I could see it, it had also a lot advanced knowledge that could be usefull to me.
" 'Gods' are devine beings that give their user control of basic powers like Ice, Fire or Lightning. There are also some of them that can have greater abilities to grant their owners. For example, we have seen in the past that some of them can not only give the ability to manipulate elements, but also create them out of nothing or make them disappear. This all depends on the bond between the 'Holder' and the god."
Basic knowledge I already knew for a while. "Where is the good stuff" skipping through the book while I was enjoying my first meal in Bosworth.

There it was, the third page finally showed me what I wanted to know. It was about the power levels of the gods and their owners.
"There are ten different levels of gods and their owners. To overcome one level in order to get to the next level, the owner has either create a greater bond to their god or exchange something that the god wants for another contract."
"Seems kinda obvious." I thought while now scarfing down my food instead of enjoying it "In order to get stronger you just have to create a greater bond with the god." I didn't want to think about it, but I realised that I had to be stuck at level 1 since I got my god. I had never really used it or even wanted to do something with it.
Therefore Jack should be around level 5 or something. He almost talked every day about how great he is at working together with his god, but I know for sure that he wasn't one of the strongest. Otherwise he would have been much more useful at our previous fights.
"But what does really differ one level to another" I asked to myself while scratching my knee because I was so unsatisfied with what the book told me.
*Flip*
There it was. "Level 1 to 10 - All you need to know" it said on the top of the next page.
Although I really wanted to know how exactly the levels were constructed, I had to stop at this point, because it had already become very late and I had to be back on my feet by sunrise tomorrow. Just for fun I scimmed through the whole book and at the end of it I recognized a torn out side. The only thing I could read was the letter "D". The rest of it was gone. Someone wanted to hide something from everyone who would read this book.

A quick glance at the host also made him come straight to me. "Do you know what used to be on this page of the book?" I asked him without any background. "W-w-w-what? Why do you want to know?" frightened and cornered, he looked around.
"Ah, I just wondered if it was something necessary that would help me with my own god." Of course it wasn't, but this book kind of drew me in. I had to know what had once been on that last page. "My boy, you'd better go to your room now. Besides, I'm afraid I don't know exactly why that page is gone either, because I only bought this little library to entertain my guests." still unsettled, he wanted to get rid of me.
"Ough, fine I'll head to my room. Thanks for the food though. It tasted great." I replied as I walked up the stairs and waved to him. Of course I knew that he knew something he didn't want me to know. But why would he hide something like that from a member of one of the biggest guilds in the country? I didn't really know and I also didn't want to understand it at that time.
I reached my room via a small and creaky spiral staircase. The room where I was supposed to sleep was located directly at the end of this staircase. At the end of the hallway, another small person was also just going into his room. While he or she, I could not see anything thanks to the darkness, was moving into the room, the person stopped in the doorway and stared at me.
"Is something wrong" I asked politely while opening the door with my keys. But the person didn't answer me, instead she scurried off to her own room without leaving me anything.
I knew that I didn't do something wrong but what was that. Starring at other people without a reason. Of course I looked like a homeless guy again, but why would you stare at me like that? The other people in the tavern also didn't treat me so harshly. But I didn't care enough to think more about it. Besides I've seen more weird things than that, so I was fine with it.
Opening the door I started thinking about the old man again. "What did he want to tell me? Why is everyone so interested in my these days. It's not like I am a god or something myself."
Stepping into my room I recognized a nasty smell. This smell crept up my nose. The candle standing at the entrance helped me to move a little into the room and I also came closer and closer to the smell. What could it possibly be? An old forgotten visitor perhaps? But it didn't matter, just around the corner of the bed and I would find out.

*swoosh*
I rushed around the bed and there it was. Just a stinky old meal that was left here. This was just smelling like I dead person. I really didn't know how that was possible, but I'have witnessed that smell often enough. I ended up just throwing the food out the window and hearing a woman's voice in response.
"Aaaah, who was that?! That is gross, for the love of god!"
Even though that woman didn't seem to enjoy that meal that much, I didn't really care because I had to get some sleep and that what I wanted to do now. Not caring about anyone or anything. Just sleeping careless.
"When was the last time I could've slept without any concern?" I couldn't find an answer to that question and I also didn't want to know it. All that mattered was that I could enjoy this sleep now.
Falling asleep very fast, I started dreaming. The old man visited me again in that dream and I could see his lips saying his last words to me again. But I wasn't able to find out what was he really saying. Just the previous words "... I have failed... " and now "You..." got stuck to my head. He definitely was talking about something that mattered to him and me. What could it have been?
The rest of the wasn't fun. Because of the dream I woke up many times and started thinking about it. Not that kind of careless night I was aspecting.
In the morning I started with brushing my teeth and doing some sports. In order to achieve more discipline I started every day with a 100 push ups and a 100 pull ups. It was kind of a way to fell good for me and really wake up.
With every set of ten the man was speaking to me. But my mind couldn't brighten me. Every time the same scene. He was saying something to me. Something important and I couldn't understand. What was going on with me? Why was every set controlled from these memories I just got yesterday?
While I didn't realize I was getting pretty loud doing my push ups and pull ups, the host came in and complained "What are you groaning that early in the morning? The other customers want to sleep in peace. Let them be!"
He left and slammed the door just a second after telling me that.
I finished my training and got down to the main room again. "Here are the keys. Sorry for being too loud, I didn't recognized it." I said while taking a piece of bread with me and leaving through the door. The host didn't said anything in response. It seemed like that he was happy I was leaving again.
Opening the door the sun blinded me more than ever. Over this evening and night I almost forget how light even looked like because it was so damnet dark in there. But I would stay there again if I must. It was pretty okay for that kind of tavern I think.
And there he was already. Jack with that pretty damned grin on his face. "Did you get laid yesterday or something?" I laughed it off. "Actually, yes."
*Silence*
"Wow, Jack we are on a mission and you are only thinking about where to get the next girl in your bed? What a shame that actually is." as I said this I patted him on the shoulder with a disappointed look.
"You are just jealous because you never got that opportunity, did you?" his grin began to shine brighter. "Just shut up and get the horses." I walked it off with an annoyed look on my face. I was sure that he knew that the things he said were right, but I also hoped that he wouldn't talk about it anymore. And that's just what he did.
"Okay, bud. I already got two of the fastest horses for us on the other street side." he let out a deep breath as he pointed towards them. "Let's just get this job done and get rid off these divine beasts. It would be quite annoying to waste another day chasing them."
And there we were going. Straight to a new adventure, but what would it bring us this time? Could there even death be waiting for us this time? I didn't know. Just wanting to head on I swung myself on the horse and headed towards the new destination.

Of Life and Light
Home. By definition, such a word means "A place where one lives", but what happens when one is removed from their home by those with greater authority? One would seek out another place to live, of course. Karastak, a Devil King and a Fallen God of a world called Terra, was removed from his world by something greater than himself, and has journeyed to the world of Azzarath by way of Azazel, God King of the Azzarathean Pantheon. Perhaps she performed thusly through pity, charity, or a simple act of kindness with no strings attached. Regardless, he is deposited near a village upon a mountainous range within the world. There, he meets up with his Human family, a grizzled old Templar, a shy Cleric, and an apathetic Mage, that came to take him away from his troubles, but he does not budge. That is, until one of his servants speaks of finding a new home. However, perhaps instead of finding a home, he finds adventure instead? The story within is a Frame Story, which means it is a story within another story. In that this one is being told by three personages, a God King called the Ageless, a Lich King called Brutus, and a Goddess named Sarah. Each of them speaks of the Ageless's past self, one called Karastak, as he journeys onwards throughout the worlds within the Azzarathean Pantheon in search of something more.
