“Oh, my god we beat them,” Caroline screamed in excitement. The Cheerleaders we had blindsided were up and muttering to themselves. The one or two I had knocked the monsters off of were shaking their heads and when Karen approached they backed up in fear.

Victoria nudged her friend and gestured to the other girls that seemed to be trying to getaway. They were inexorably dragged into the girls' locker room. Victoria raised her hand. “Victoria?” She said with a smile. “About time someone beat them.”

“May I go to the restroom?” She said brightly. Her teacher Grunted but nodded in the direction of the locker room. Quickly the dark-haired girl went.

She heard a muffled sound from the back of the room when she went in. She tried to be quiet as she snuck back to see what the commotion was. There she found the two girls pinned and helpless by Karen and the other girls. “When I said you were mine I meant for the rest of your lives.” The voice that spoke was a low growl that promised pain as it hissed out. The two girls one Asian and the other the leggy redhead struggled weakly and were unable to cry out as their mouths had been covered with a town that held their heads back.

“What the hell?” Victoria heard from the other side of the room a quick glance showed her Caroline standing in shock. “What are you doing?”

Karen the head bitch in charge of the cheer squad turned and what stood there was only vaguely in a human shape the head and face were distorted. The eyes were big black and multifaceted. “You Cow! You’ll pay for this.” She threw something at the Asian girl it landed on her shoulder then it scuttled up and latched onto her neck. She then gestured to two of the girls and cried out “Get her then we’ll get the other one too.” They lurched toward Caroline. Victoria looked at the horror that was the head cheerleader. Who knew that the old saying that beauty was only skin deep could be so true.

Furiously the teenager thought about what to do, she had never been in a fight in her life, she knew she had to react though or her friend Caroline might be hurt or even worse brought under the sway of this queen bee. The lights in the room were dim so maybe if she… With just seconds to plan and react Victoria began to cast spells. A globe of light shot out and burst into being right in front of Karen’s face. The creature reared back one arm trying to shield her face. The Victoria was among the stunned girls she reached out to the Asian and grabbed the thing that had attached itself and yanked. She heard a low scream as it tore away in her hand then she sent an energy dart through her hand into the monster and felt the shell crumble as it was burned away.

But she didn’t get away completely unscathed on of the cheerleaders still under the sway of Karen kicked out at her and managed to deal her a blow to the side. The kick though only a glancing blow startled her nearly causing her to be caught by the other cheerleaders. Victoria threw a short quick jab that caught the blinded creature in the face on what would have been its nose if it were human. It’s seeming crumbled before Victoria stood an insect that was four and a half feet tall Victoria threw an energy Dart that caught it in the thorax.

The thing formally known as Karen struck out in return its arm shot out in a blinding flash and hit Victoria on the arm, she felt a stinging pain but cast more energy darts even as she lashed out with her left hand giving the thing a quick jab. As she did she was thinking to herself how she needed to learn how to really fight if she was going to be a teenage enforcer. She felt arms wrap around her leg as one of the cheerleaders, a short brunette girl grab onto her leg. Then The Asian girl was up and had grabbed the girl and pulled her off.

Again Karen struck at the distracted girl, The teenage hunter dodged the first blow that struck the short brunette then took a second blow on her forearm. She felt pain and saw a notification flashing before her eyes. But she got a good look at Karen and saw she was much the worse for wear. Her carapace was blackened one eye had been gouged and then the redhead that had been held down slammed something down overhand and it smashed the monsters head. Victoria shot more energy darts that struck the twitching body as it fell in a heap.

The cheerleader that had been in the monster's control seemed to collapse as if their strings had been cut. The four girls looked around at the mess, the bruised bodies and the evident corpse of the insect creature that had control of them. The Asian collapsed on a bench and shuddered and then began to cry. “What's that smell?” Caroline asked as she came closer.

“I think it’s Karen.” The redhead said. Looking down.

Victoria looked too only to see a gray viscous goo on the floor that seemed to be evaporating the only thing left behind was the gym clothes the creature had worn. “Good news, there's a spot open for a new cheer captain,” Victoria said deadpan. “Uhm, let me do the talking.” She said as she heard a whistle from the front of the room.

Victoria felt she was lucky when questioned by the Coach Mrs. Morganstern. “I don’t know Karen seemed to go crazy. Then she hit the girls and ran off.”

Her teacher looked at her and shook her head. “She ran off in the nude?”

“Yes,” Caroline, the Asian girl, Victoria now knew was called Rhyoka, and the redhead Named Cora all chorused. The teacher face palmed then looked at them.

“That's the craziest story I’ve heard in thirty years as a teacher.” She said then muttered to herself. ”The crazier it is though the more likely it is to be true.”

She looked at them and appraised Victoria’s scratches from the day before. “No one was hurt?” They all shook their heads. She rubbed her jaw in thought then scratched her head. “Get out of here, this never happened. I hate paperwork.”

“What was that?” Caroline asked as they got out of range of the teacher after they got dressed.

“Tell her its the magic at work,” Lacie said to Victoria.

“What?” The teenager asked.

“The Akashic field discourages the mundanes from looking into magic. So they find reasons not to look to closely.” The pixie explained. Victoria repeated the explanation to her friend.

“That is so cool she replied a smile on her face. “Your first monster, and to think it got smashed by a twenty-pound book bag.”

“I’m glad she had calculus before gym” Victoria said smiling.
