《The Aether Universe》Chapter 21

As Tai sat on his bed, he closed his eyes and channeled the darkness and shadows in his room. When he saw his sister control the darkness and make those tendrils, he knew that he couldn't do that, or at least not like how she does. Those tendrils moved like the tentacles of an octopus and its movement was fluid.
In terms of skill in Darkness Manipulation, his sister definitely won, and that was why he had to get better. If his sister could do it, and he couldn't, then that just meant that he had room to improve. To get in tune with the darkness that covered everything once the light disappeared.
As Tai absorbed the darkness in his room, a thick black aura surrounded him, overpowering the small lamp in the room and surrounding the room in complete darkness.

Unlike before when he just gathered the darkness, he absorbed the darkness.
When he absorbed the darkness, he came to a realization that it wasn't evil, and it wasn't good either, it was neutral. Truly neutral. Darkness was bad sometimes, like when it's dark outside, making someone unable to see, but it was also good, like when it keeps someone hidden from something dangerous.

Darkness is the beginning and the end. It was there at the start of the universe, and it'll be there at the end of it as the last light fades away giving no hope for life to exist.
When Tai opened his eyes, he saw that the room was completely pitch black, but it was weird. He knew that the room was pitch black, but he could see just fine. He could see his back pack that was sitting on the desk as clear as day, except it wasn't day, and there was no light to be seen.

Since he was in complete darkness, he might as well use this time to practice his abilities. Gathering some of the darkness in the room into his hand, he made a swirling orb of darkness.
Tai solidified the orb of darkness into a swirling ball of chains that he could control at will to bind, or attack enemies.

Tai tinkered with the ball of chains, making the chain bigger and more durable, but making the speed of the chain drastically slow down. Making the chain smaller and lighter made it faster, but it lowered the chain's durability.
This experimenting with the darkness made his Darkness Constructs level up 3 more times, but he ignored the notifications, completely captivated by the darkness.
While he continued experimenting with the darkness, even modifying the look of his naginata and making it look 'cooler', something was watching him.
As he spun the naginata in his hand, the scene around him suddenly changed and he appeared in a dark abyss, with absolutely nothing in sight. Not even his night vision was helping him as he was seeing nothing.

"Interessssting," a voice in the abyss said, startling Tai.
"Who are you? Where am I?" Tai asked as he moved around, trying to see who, or what the voice was, but it was pointless.
"Who I am is not important. We are in your head, do not worry," the voice said, slightly reassuring Tai.
"What do you want from me then?"
"Nothing, on the contrary, I'm looking to give you ssssomething," the voice said, laughing a bit as it looked at Tai.
"And what is this something, and what do I have to do once I get it?" Tai asked.
"Nothing. Abssssolutely nothing. I'm jusssst bored and ssssaw that you had a sssspecial connection with the darknessssss. You could say that I'm just sssspeeding up your progressssss as you would eventually get this sssskill anyway. The only thing you have to do issss get sssstrong and maybe free me from thissss dark prisssson. Other than that, jusssst do whatever you want."
"Alright, then." Tai wasn't really trusting of this weird entity, as who would just give someone a free skill just like that, and they weren't even remotely related. "What is this skill, though?"
"You'll find out eventually," the voice said, laughing one last time as he was sent back to his room and received a notification.
Your ability Darkness Manipulation has been upgraded to ██████ Darkness Manipulation Your ability Darkness Constructs has been upgraded to ██████ Darkness Constructs Your ability Darkness Aura has been upgraded to ██████ Darkness Aura
"What is this? Am I too low a level to know what that... thing gave me?" Tai asked himself.
Seeing that the entity had upgraded his darkness skills, he channeled his darkness to see what had changed and there was a big change.
His darkness felt at least 100x as strong, and that wasn't an exaggeration. Tai wondered what the entity had given him and why was it so strong.
