《Master of Learning (Color coded)》Chapter 13 First year of school down

Leo and Epieoth, who were fighting at the beginning of the explanation. Stopped in the middle of the fight and started to watch Brick explain it. Brick might be big but he's also a genius at teaching. I couldn't use any of my new magic to get myself out since both of them are watching. Leo comes over and grabs the little bit of my robe that was sticking out of the ground and yanks me out. Leo says with a smile.
“Hey redhead! It's nice to finally meet someone as famous as you.”
I ask what he's talking about.
“You're well known for being terrible at magic! Some people call you the number 1 failure of the school, others call you the special ed student. You get picked on by the students who get picked on by other students, that's how bad you are at magic.”
He sounds almost happy saying it.
“It's good to know why you train so hard with nothing to show now though! I heard your whole conversation with Brick.”
...Oh no! How? Is it because he's a beast race? I start to panic, Leo then says.
“Don't worry, I'm not going to tell anyone. It's nice seeing someone try harder than me once in awhile. I've been fighting this guy for 3 years straight and haven't beaten him yet!”
Leo points behind his back with his thumb at Epieoth.
"It's that determination. That drive to get stronger that I like about you. People can see you however they want but I can only see you for what you are to me. Someone I know will do great things with their life. That sort of class might be useful in the future, I might call upon you for a favor to keep this secret!"
He was still standing very close to me. Almost shouting even though we weren't but arms length apart... It made me slightly uncomfortable, he reaches forwards and puts both his hands on my shoulders. Finally speaking at a normal level.
“Well we're going to go. Good luck with that new magic.”
...I'm afraid that my secret is going to be revealed unintentionally by him.
Starting the next day, I tried out my new moves. Flare was easily twice the size! Almost a wall of fire compared to fireball. It seemed to deal around the same damage, only had a bigger area of effect. Freeze was the same way. It could completely freeze through an enemy now, instead of just a tiny portion of them. They would quickly break free still.

Control nature was different though. I could already move earth but the amount of earth I could control didn't increase. I could now form shapes with it. Including swords and spikes under enemies to impale them. Not as effective as actual swords though. Using it as a blunt weapon would probably be better.
Also I could control how hard it was by adding or removing water from it. All the new skills were tested out but I still could control other elements. I tried out controlling water. I could pull water out of just about everything. Including slimes, which was extremely effective for confusing them and making them dizzy. Air magic was also good. I haven't found a use for it yet. When I infused flare into my sword, instead of just heating the blade it actually caught on fire. The fire didn't damage the weapon but it looked like it would deal more damage.
I shouldn't need to carry water anymore since I can pull it out of everything. After testing out my new skills, I decide to head back to my room early and take a break.
Its been 3 months since I got elementalist from Brick. It's quickly approaching the end of the school year. Most of the fourth year students have already stopped going to lessons. At the school, you're not forced to go to lessons and because of this, a lot of the students skip lessons when they want to. Since they're paying for school, only an idiot wouldn't go. At least that is my opinion.
Any time I see Leaf she avoids eye contact and her face gets a little red… I wonder why. When me and Leaf joined it was near the beginning of the school year. We joined at the beginning of the school year, only a few weeks behind the actual start. I can't take any of the second year lessons for the classes I want. You need to be at least level 10 in that class in order to take it. 20 to take third year lessons and 30 to take fourth year lessons...
It would be easy to get to each level just from going to classes... With any class besides mine that is. I'll be taking job lessons next year. I got the mana cost reduction passive skill from my fourth period. I now use 15% less mana all together. The next few months I'm going to try and push some classes to level 10 so I can get the skills tied to them.

Over this past year since I've come to the school, I've killed so many slimes that I have got a new achievement. Slime slayer for killing one thousand. I now do 10% extra damage to slime enemies. Also from continuously killing slimes I gained 2 levels, making me level 7. I didn't learn any blue magic from them so I assume it's because they're so weak.
Some of my class levels have reached 10, only focusing on the few that were close. Scout was the first, with it I got the activated skill thermal vision. I can activate it to see heat signatures instead of regular vision. Through testing, I've found that this skill can be used to see weak points on enemies. Since weak points glow brighter. Knight was next, I got a passive skill stamina boost 2. Which increased my stamina by 10%. Adding it to the first amount it totals 20%.
Freelancer also hit 10 and I didn't get any new skills. I did get 10 stat points in each of my stats. Lastly, time mage hit 10. With shortened chants I'm potentially twice as strong but not quite that. I try it out with some of my magic. It's shortened all of my chants down from 4 seconds to 2, which is amazing. I can do some pretty crazy stuff once I get silent chanting from illusionist.
Only a few days until the end of this school year. Being excited I decide to go buy an instrument. I should try to get a badge for storing my cloths when I use the druids shape shifting skill. I'm also going to look for miniature totems for my shaman class.
Most shamans use big totems because they're more effective. Some use totem maces or totem staffs that grant a buff while in range. I'm going to look for mini ones that I could carry on my person easily. Preferably health regen and melee attack quickening ones.
First stop is the instrument store in the city. Not a wide selection but I end up picking up a harmonica. For one reason, I can use it 1 handed. Most other instruments I couldn't. A second reason, I already knew how to use a harmonica in my previous life. So it should be easy to relearn it. I might be able to play it eventually with wind magic so it wouldn't take up either hand.
I Head to the general store to see if they have a druid badge in yet. I had made several attempts to procure 1 before. I eventually ordered 1 from the shop. It's finally in, so I pick up my badge. I also look for some mini totems. He has plenty of regular totems which are about the size of a 2 foot piece of wood sticking out of the ground.
The few mini's he has aren't what I wanted. I end up picking up the smallest mana regen totem he has. Which could easily fit in my pouch but it isn't very effective. Ineffective to the point it might cut a few minutes off restoring all of my mana.
While heading back to the magic institute I see someone familiar but I can't place him. Finally I remember! Its Zeke, the paladin who taught me his fighting style. Paladins aren't very strong melee attackers. What they lack in damage, they make up for in survivability and charisma. Able to convince humanoids fighting isn't in their best interest. They make good guard captains and foot soldiers and group leaders.
I don't really know what higher level paladins get. From what I could tell Zeke wasn't that strong. I greet him and asks if he remembers me and he doesn't. Which is fine, I was just exchanging pleasantries with him anyways. Its good to see a face from my old village and it makes me start missing home.
The last day of school, there was a big graduation ceremony. Out of the fourth years, very few have failed. With the grading curve very low. Some people could graduate with only going to classes a few times the entire year. Even so, some people managed to fail. Even more dropped out. Even with such a lenient policy, I fear I might be the first person failed here who's trying to pass.
That being said, one of the graduates stands out far more than the others. It's Brick, towering over the other students. A giant of a man, is also the valedictorian of his grade. Its a fairly short ceremony with no speeches or anything. Just people heading up to the podium when their name is called to get their certificate. Nothing else happens that day and it will be two weeks before the next school year officially starts. So everyone is going on break.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
