El wakes up and sets to work. Going as fast as he can and doing as much work as he can to help Arkin out. The rye they are milling will make flour and be turned to bread. It will be a staple of the village's diet for months. He stops while milling and thinks about where he woke up yesterday pondering if Erin could have been hitting on him. No, not possible.

El spends 30 Gold buying Goods for the mine with his labor covering for most of the actual value of the goods. He spends an extra 40 Gold on Goods that Arkin isn’t covering so that he can finish up the renovations today. All of this purchased in bulk from the general store in town.

El retrieves his new Longsword from the smith. It has just the spade end that he hoped for crafted from his very own foe slaying farming tool. He then brings all the supplies he bought to the barn. Most of the field hands are lying about, having had little work today, and Top eventually approaches El.

“Hey, me and a friend were bored, and you’re always sneaking off.” Top starts speaking before he notices the supplies that El is loading up. “What’s that for?”

“If you two are cool, then you can come with me to go help a friend out. I know a guy with a mine nearby.” El nods to Top and another halfling friend of his.

“We’re cool. I knew Arkin had to have some new side operation.” Top smiles.

The three of them carry the supplies out to the Warren. They meet with Kib who has been working all morning.

In the constructions making sure the Warren was safe and habitable El and Kib find a red gemstone. El promises to sell the gemstone. If it is worth more than the 70 he spent on supplies then the two can split the rest of its value.

After the group is done working the two halflings come with El and Kib as they hunt down goblins in the area. The field hand and his kobold partner are getting closer and closer to wherever the gobs are coming from.

The group separates. Kib returns to the Warren while the three others go back to town. The halflings won’t stop chattering about the kobold.

“He seems so lonely all the way out here in that tomb of a mine.” The other halfling says.

“He can’t possibly mine it all on his own. Plus I bet he wouldn’t mind the company. I might try visiting him every day!” Top skips ahead.

“He isn’t pulling money out of the ground for you to profit off of. He isn’t a sideshow either so don’t think you can just go there anytime you want.” El bundles his fists feeling slightly heated.

“Alright, alright. No big deal.” Top calls back before he and the hafling run off to their own burrows.

El retires for the night to his barn.

Top retires to his burrow where he is bombarded by the hugs of three little girls. They squeal and rifle through his pockets. One takes a candy, one takes a silver coin, and the third takes his pocket knife.

He walks through his hallways with the two younger girls clinging to either leg. He looks from room to room. Following his nose towards a kitchen in the back. The girls laugh at his exaggerated movements and sniffs.

"Is that a no-good gnome in the house? Or just a short halfling?" A female voice calls from the kitchen.

"It is I! The very tall dwarf!" Top says in a gruff voice and horrible accent that can't be placed.

Top turns the corner into the dining room. He can see over a counter into the kitchen his beautiful wife is preparing a small meal.

"Kati needs new bindings for her feet. Did you earn enough today that we can get that this week, or are we waiting 'till next?"

Top takes his cap off and retrieves his hidden prize. The girls stare in awe of his ingenuity. He sets it on the counter with a small clang. Top's wife turns, rolling her eyes preemptively, and staring across the counter at Top. Her eyes drop slightly lower to the rock on the counter. A rock, no, a chunk of silver ore.

"How?" She whispers with surprise and urgency in her voice.

"There's a mine. I'm gonna be the first villager down there working. It's where I was today." Top jabs a thumb back into his shoulder.

His wife stares at the stone dust left on his clothes.

"We're gonna make it." She mutters.

"We're gonna make it!" Top throws himself halfway across the counter grabbing his wife.

"What are you!?"

Top wraps his arms around her and squeezes his wife as they fall to the kitchen floor. She sniffs as Top snuggles into her. The three girls run in and dogpile on the parents. The halfling father wraps his arms around his family and feels heat and happiness swell up in the corner of his eyes.
