“Low shouts and soft explosions ring throughout the area and yet, more roars and bellows can be heard in the distance.”

“That wasn’t really hard. Surprisingly easy. I did get it by surprise though.

Should I be using that shitty sword? Eh.”

“Ah. Yes. He’s going to keep those remains isn’t he?”

“I wonder where I can find vendors. What’s the currency in this world?

I feel like I should have taken a moment to breathe in the city air, before coming to this world.

I hope these items stack in the inventory, I still have the stuff from the Aleksy facility.”

“The distant sounds give us an idea how populated the area is, and this is despite being on the very fringe of the town.”

“This might be a lot easier than I expected, I think I’ll cross out the kill ex many creatures first.

The quest suddenly feels very doable. Well some of it appears to be nonsense.”

“Such bravery in the face of danger. Our hero travels onward in hopes to find more fiends for his ferocious slaughter, the killer that he is.”

“I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.”

“Every step leads to another victim. Every breath, another death. We shiver at the thought of the massacre we are about to witness. Shiver, shiver and lament.”

“It’s just zombies, not even human zombies.

That wasn’t a human zombie right? Would be a pretty odd looking human.

I’m going to find a building and survey the area.”

“The casual attitude of a soon to be serial killer makes ones skin feel as if it came to life and started wiggling about trying to break free. Enjoy that thought for a moment before we return to our protagonist.”

“What in the world is wrong with you?

Look at those three. What are they doing?”

“Our hero has managed to somehow squeeze his way into a building that appears to have ignored every building code, regulation or rule in the book.”

“Are they playing rock, paper, scissors?”

“Our recluse of a hero has of course no idea the social etiquette of the noble undying.”

“What?

Social etiquette? Those zombies?”

“With every switch and strike the honorable undying makes a complex sound that only the most eloquent and graceful have any hopes to understand.”

“Dude. Uuuuuh. And Aaaaah. Can’t possibly be considered complex.

You’re just messing with me right? I want to say that you are messing with me but would the world consider me to be species-ist?

Those are just idiots hitting each other repeatedly right?”

“Uncultured and unrefined. Despite his supposed wealthy background.”

“Screw it. I’m taking them out.”

“There is a subtle shift in the wind as our hero starts accumulating the surrounding air elements.

His speed has risen, an effect when in tune with the air element or any variation of it.

The occupied undead are none the wiser that they are soon to become prey to the ferocious Ji Aleksy.

A look of concentration has taken hold of our hero’s face. A rare sight.

His hands mimicking claws, the chaotic elements gather at his fingertips to form a transparent swirl of mana.

A very sloppy and dangerous way to practice magic.”

‘Rrrrrrrr!’

“Shit!”

“Our hero has been discovered, the dramatic change in the surrounding elements, the loud footsteps and obvious charge towards his foes must have alerted them.”

‘Rrrrr?’

‘Uuurrhh?’

‘Rrrrrr!’

“The quick minded undying trio quickly come up with a battle plan.”

“Eh?”

“Before our hero has time to adjust to the new found scenery of three charging undead he sees a movement far behind his current enemies.

He will have to quickly dispose of these fiends or make his escape.”

“This is the feeling of deja vus right?

This can’t be how things are. I saw them move properly seconds ago.”

“The undying tide will soon overwhelm the tiny existence that is our hero!”

“But. And I don’t want to complain, but. Why are they so slow? I get zombies are supposed to be slow but this is a bit awkward.”

“Our hero move forward with extraordinary speed and with an open palm filled to the brim with myriad of open world elements.

The sounds of shattered brittle bones and tearing of old leather engulfs the senses.”

‘Uuuuuuh!’

“You can see the despair in its eyes as its friends are torn to pieces, one by one. The last undying having witnessed his companions shredded, moans bereaved.”

“This was pretty easy. That’s what, four now?

This seems like it will be surprisingly easy, I don’t think I need all this magic either.

And then there is that mana deprivation that I can’t even feel unless it’s too late, better be cautious.”

Optional: Kill ninety six undead foes.

“With no time to rest our hero stands on the precipice of his demise as a virtual avalanche of undying creatures rush towards him.”

“Let’s try out this with the sword.”

“Carefully made by an aspiring weaponsmith.”

“I need better weapons. Or do I? I need to see a decent standard for weapons.”

“To those confused. Our hero has a horrible weapon, not at all suitable for him.

Something like a whip or maybe a crossbow would be better for him.”

“What? What does that even mean? I don’t know how to even use a whip, well not in a harmful way.”

“Case and point.”

“Alright, whatever I got to deal with these things.”

“Rushing toward our hero are faster moving undying. Some gallop on four limbs, some drag themselves with two hands while others walk on two feet.

With a sword in hand, our protagonist sprints with never before seen speed towards the dozen or so creatures.

We are left with the sight of true cruelty. Ji’s sword does not quickly take the lives of his enemies but leaves them mangled on the ground before he moves to continue his mutilation.

The droning anguish is near palpable, even with averted eyes one cannot help but imagine the massacre in progress.”

Optional: Kill eighty two undead foes

“I need a break. This is exhausting.”

“A night of death, and in the morning we mourn. For when remember those that have fallen we think of them rising.”

“Very poetic.

This has been very easy so far. I was under the impression that things were supposed to be a challenge.”

“The high and mighty will die due to their complacency.”

“Point taken. I’ll be more careful.”

“A lot of these. Wonder what I will be able to use these for. Maybe I can just sell them.”

“And this. It even has an odd glow to it, very faint but it’s there.”

“The world has many mysteries our hero couldn’t possibly understand. Nor does he seem capable of comprehending even a fraction of them.”

“I understand a lot of things I know pletora of things.”

“The word our hero is looking for is plethora.”

“That’s what I said! I’m going to rest for a minute then explore this place.”

“Unexpectedly or perhaps we should say predictably, our hero has fallen asleep. He’s lucky that the area he is in is considered somewhat of a slum.

And while we have this rare opportunity alone lets chat.

What we observed today was our hero ridding this world of the scourge that is the volatile beings known as the undying.

These fiends were of course of little importance as they were one of the lowest on the list of things to fear. Nonetheless he will be rewarded for his actions, but no need to inflate his ego with praise.

Originally the undying were merely something like annoying and hostile creatures that seemed a bit off.

It wasn’t until a few of the more intelligent ones gained sentience that they became a problem.

And the reason they became a problem was because these mis-named things are easily controlled by their betters.

So therein after the more self-aware undying saw their brethren being cut down like beasts without any concern. They saw them killed for what seemed pleasure.

They gathered their kin and waged war on everything not undying.

This of course is all very old history, repeated on multiple occasions and is most likely forgotten by most. The hatred between the races has already formed a firm foundation.

Both relish the thought of slaughtering the other, who’s to say who is right and who is wrong?

Looks like that is all the time we have, a noisy old man is getting closer.”

‘Tsk.’

“It appears our hero has fallen truly fast asleep, oblivious to the dangers that surround him. Luckily he is well hidden and the winds have changed, averting his scent away from those that would make him their meal.”

“Mmmh. Owh. My back.

Ah. Did I fall asleep? Damn.”

Survive for seven days and twenty one hours to twenty seven days and twenty one hours outside the sanctuary.

“Hmm. I didn’t think about it at first but seven to twenty seven days? Isn’t that a bit odd?

Whatever. I feel so good though, I must’ve slept like a baby.”

“The carefree truly are free.”

“Hm? What?

Oh look. Probably getting close to noon. Nice daylight and everything. How long did I sleep?

Let’s go deeper into the town. I wonder if they got running water and electricity.”

“Even when the sun is at its highest the surroundings seem desolate, gloomy and decrepit.

The only thing keeping one from thinking this place is abandoned is the bellowing of beasts and the droning of the untiring undead.”

“I was wondering why it seems so dark even though there are no clouds in the sky, almost as if there was a filter on the entire place.

Oh, that’s a big one. How can it stay up on two legs?

Doesn't look very stable.”

“The Eaege, a ferocious animal. Even though they possess considerable strength, their intelligence can’t be described in such terms.

They are considered to be above the general fodder and they have the ability to assert dominance over those weaker than it.

The Eaege will create a band of creatures that it will use to hunt and cannibalize if the need arises.”

“Huh. Do I fight it? It looks at least twice my size, every which way you measure.

Hey! You big guy! Hey! C’mere!

Oh. Ah.”

“We watch our hero scurry like a startled rat, quickly jumping into nearby ruins.”

“I need to seriously start to think things through.”

“Once our hero started calling the Eaege, every nearby member of the pack rose up and the numbers must have overwhelmed our poor, ignorant, naive, self-involved and reckless hero.”

“I get it! I should have noticed something strange about all those dark piles on the ground.

Can these things climb? Where do I run?”

“A howl of the Eaege travels far and the surrounding hegemonies, the local tyrants all take notice.

Few may join the search for what is a clear enemy of the undying. Most will ignore the pest.

It is up to our hero to fight or flee.”

“Fleeing. I’m fleeing. I’d fly if I could.

And it all comes back to getting a flying beast!”

“The earth may not shake but we can certainly feel the pressure of the tens of the Eeage’s minions start to move in our hero’s direction.

Question is, have they caught his scent?”
