《God Blade (Hiatus)》Chapter 16: The Capital

After two days of traveling, they finally reached the capital outskirt. They enjoyed each other companies more than they ever expected. They always had something to say and they have a lot of common interest.
As soon as the Capital City, Redmound was in sight, Lyana eyes sparkled. It was indeed a majestic sight. A huge walled city stood in the distance. And in the center of it all, stood an even taller structure, The Redmound Castle, where the King and the Royal Families live. Farmland and wheat field greeted them as they came out from the forest road. Carriages of both noble and merchant passed them as they walked toward the huge walled city in the distance.
Unlike in Aeston where Human dominated the population. Even outside the wall of the capital, it was evident that the population was very diverse compared to the rest of the kingdom. Beast-kin, Lizard-kin, Dwarf, Halfling, Human, Even elf, who rarely get out from their home forest, could be seen there. Some of them were slave, laborer, merchant, soldier, some even wore noble clothes and have a noble sigil of their own. Human still dominated the nobility, though the capital was much better than the rest of the kingdom.
Lyana had worn a black cloak over her head to hide her face. That, combined with her magic that concealed her horn and tail should prevent any trouble in the near future. Despite only knowing a low tier disguise spell, there was almost no risk of her getting found out. Amaryn was, after all, a kingdom of knight and warrior, a place where magic was underappreciated. There should be no Mage that scans the street. As long as they stayed clear from the mages guild building, there should be no problem.
They decided to stay at the inn outside the city rather than inside the city to save money. The difference between the rents price of an inn inside and outside the city was quite unreasonable. And the distance to the city gate wasn't even that far.

Theo rented a single room with two beds. Lyana protested at first, but Theo held all their money, and by extension, all the economic power of their small group. She had previously tried to steal some money from him, but he was extremely alert about his surrounding, even during his sleep. She had no choices but to agree to his decision. It was two beds anyway, what could be the problem right? It wasn't like Theo going to sneak up on her at night. He already swore to her.
The realization came too late to Lyana. Theo was a promiscuous man and she wasn't his girl. Theo would search for a girl and bring her to his room at night to satisfy his lust. But their rooms were one and the same. Lyana tried to calm herself down. Surely Theo wouldn't be so thoughtless, would he? And even if he bring a girl to the inn, would the girl wanted to do the act when there was another girl already? There was no way for it to happen.
"Finally, a bed!" She shouted as she laid on the bed. She hugged the pillow and rolled around in the bed a few times before stopping. She sighed. "And away from the prying eyes of humans." She said with a somber tone.
"I'm a human too you know."
Lyana waved her hand."Nah, you're different. You're more rotten than any human I've ever met."
"Thank you. You yourself were pretty good at handling those humans. I mean, despite the trouble you made for me, at least you didn't kill anyone."
Lyana sat on her bed."You don't know how itchy my hand was, wanting to smash that lecher's head. And those troubles wouldn't have appeared if you didn't force me to speak to him."

"I was trying to rehabilitate you. One day you will need to blend in with human, and by extension men, when I'm not around, better start now than later. Though I must admit I chose the worst person for you to talk to."
"So, what's our plan now?" She asked.
"We rest for now. After that..." He turned to look at Lyana. "I'm going to buy a slave." He smiled and stopped talking, expecting Lyana to object. He prepared his own counter-argument in his mind if Lyana tried to stop him, but much to his disappointment, she didn't.
"Oh" She replied without an ounce of interest or anything in her voice. "Not that, I mean our plan in the capital. You never tell me why you want to go to the capital."
"I have a plan for later, a grand plan......You're not going to stop me from buying a slave?"
"No. It's not like you can stop slavery by not buying a slave. If you want to buy one, then buy one. But promise me you will treat her well."
"I promise."
"I won't complain as long as you don't mistreat her."
"So you want to come and see?"
She laid on her back. "Right now?" She asked.
"Why not. You don't look like so tired." She stared at him annoyed. Her eyes saying that she wanted to rest.
"But you said we're resting for now."
"Well It's up to you, but maybe I will be away for a long time and maybe, just maybe, I'll be out until after dinner. Isn't it bad for a young woman like you to skip dinner?"
"Fineeee" She got out of the bed with an irritated look on her face.
Her irritated look was fine too, she was cute. But what truly made Theo happy was how cheerful she has been after they started their adventure. And it was not the forced cheerful attitude like before. It was genuine.
"C'mon Theo!" She called him from the door. "Let's do this fast and return fast. I'm tired, okay."
"Relax Princess and enjoy the city." He answered with a smile.

Overgrowth
I never thought I'd be killed by butterflies. But here I am... Edmon Valli was a smuggler, before a freak storm threw him off course and stranded him on a desert island smack in the middle of an uncharted monster zone. Trying his best to survive, or possibly even escape, he stumbles across the find of a lifetime: an unclaimed dungeon crystal. This is a dungeon-ish story, but without reincarnation or transmigration. I started it as a whim for NaNoWriMo so I may drop it any time after that... or I might not. My current plan is to write until I can reach some sort of conclusion and call it 'volume one'. I hope someone enjoys reading it for now! All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.

Raven: The Beginning
'What's the worst that could happen'? is what I thought to myself as I entered the World of the Veil with a new, experimental machine that the company created. I was originally excited to participate in their alpha test, and now, looking back, I was just a naive little girl that didn't know what it was like to truly suffer. Sarah was one of the world's best assassin players, but she wasn't prepared for getting stuck as a low-level player in a new game. Suddenly she has to struggle just to survive against the monsters of the world, while also keeping her secret from the authorities. What happens when the killing, and the consequences, are just too real? Author's Note (and a Warning): This book is about a normal person that is forced into a fantasy / medieval environment. What could possibly go wrong with our heroine? This novel is a sort of, legacy. I wanted to at least put it out there before I passed away due to a combination of financial difficulty, homelessness, job loss, and my last interview taking up the last of my savings (which I did not get the job). If by some miracle, and I get a job that can give me a pay advance by next week (4/8) and I survive this turbulent time, I will edit this - and the formating of the book).
