《Reborn with 1600 IQ》3. University of magic

I woke up after getting some sleep. There are many things that I enjoy in this new world, from reading, to learning new things, but the most enjoyable one must be sleeping. Well, it’s not like other people are different than me, but for me it’s a little different. My intelligence makes daily life a little too “tiresome”, if I can describe it like this.
Well, there are things that one can get used to, and thinking the way I do is one of them, but I still enjoy the sleep much more than I did in my previous life. Maybe because I don’t have a computer beside my bed, with games, and funny videos?
For real, internet is probably the thing I miss the most… Wait, no! My parents! Yeah! I miss my parents, not the internet!
I slowly stood up from my bed, and took a glance at my room. It wasn’t too big, but I liked it nonetheless. Full of dusty bookcases, and papers that were all over the room. Under a big window, two beds were placed near each other, and on the other one a boy about my age, but higher than me was sleeping.
He had short, red hair, and a face of someone impolite. Well, maybe it’s rude to describe it like this, but his eyes always looked like he was angry, not that they were open right now.
As if he knew that I was thinking about him, he moved a little under his blanket, and faced me with his head still sleeping.
There was no reason for me to stare at him, so I just approached my desk that was in the corner of the room, intending to tidy my stuff a little.
“Hmm… There is no dust in this place…” I said quietly, as I touched the clean spot on my desk “Did he “borrow” my stuff without asking once again?”
The boy that was now soundly sleeping had a habit of taking my stuff without asking. From the pen that I was using, to the homework that I worked so hard to prepare. Speaking about homework, we had a really big one for today. Maybe I should revise it once again? Well, it’s not like there will be any mistakes anyway…
After cleaning my stuff a little bit, I approached a one, and only mirror that we had in our room. It was hanged on the wall behind the boy that was still sleeping. It wasn’t too big, but I still could see my pajamas, and bored gaze.

“It’s been a year since I regained my memories, but I still can’t get used to this face…” I said, as I touched my nose.
This person reflected in the mirror was me, but I couldn’t really get used to it. I know that I spent sixteen years living in this body, but what can I do? Still, I don’t look that bad if I can say so myself.
A nice looking face, with a small nose, and big, reddish eyes. Can’t say that I understand the way people look in this world, but if I can accept red hair, I should also accept red eyes. Speaking of the hair, my looked messy. Long, black strands of hair were just chaotically arranged on my head…
I grabbed a comb, that for some reason was now placed on the floor under me, and started to brush my hair. It took me some time, but I made it look well enough after some time, which made me look a little cleaner.
“I don’t look bad, if you ask me…” I threw a meaningless compliment at the mirror, and went to a nearby wardrobe to get my uniform.
As I was changing into it, the boy that was sleeping for this whole time finally woke up, and was now looking at me with half opened eyes.
“W-Why are you changing… W-Wait! Wait! Which hour it is!?” he shouted, as he springed out of his bed.
“Who knows, but I would start changing right now if I was in your place Roy…” I said, and he looked at me with angry expression.
“You should have just woken me up! Ahh… Where are my things… Where are my things!”
I ignored the voice of this little thief, as I put my clothes on me. Finally, when I was ready I took a look at myself in the mirror. The uniform looked extravagant, and a little over the top. It was black, with golden, and white accents. The buttons were nicely decorated, and they looked good with the black trousers, and boots.
“Where is my homework… Where is it! Where! Why didn’t you wake me up… Uhh…” Roy was still moaning, as he threw the papers on his desk.
“There are probably under your book for conventional magic. It seemed that we needed a lot of material from that book, to make our homework.” I said, and he grabbed the book that I was talking about.

“Yeah, you are right! Thanks man! Wait, I shouldn’t thank you! You are the one that caused this situation!”
“Yeah, yeah… Just change yourself, and go with me. We don’t have a lot of time.” I said, and he grabbed his uniform, while still moaning about how it is my fault that we will be late.
Finally, when he got ready, we took our bags, exited our room, and started walking through a hallway of our dormitory. This building wasn’t as expensive looking as the university itself, but it still made a really good impression. It’s white walls, and big windows, from which a lot of sunshine was coming through, made this hallway look like something from a fairytale.
Well, I was in a fairytale now.
“Ehh… Why can’t we share our dormitory with the girls… Why? I don’t want to look at men from the beginning of my day!” Roy was saying some stupid things, as he walked beside me, but it’s not like I couldn’t understand him.
Walking beside those people from the beginning of my day wasn’t pleasing.
“He’s still here?” one of the boys walking through the hallway said quietly, while looking at me.
“A commoner, in a place like this. Doesn’t he know that this isn’t a place for him?” other one said, behind my back.
“I don’t care how good he is. He should just return to his little city, and stay there, with his lowly parents.” a little laughter carried through the hallway, when someone said this.
Yeah, even in a fantasy world like this, people were still the same. Can’t say I blame them. I was learning in the greatest magical university in the country. People here were mostly highly born, and from noble families.
I got here only because the scholar from my city recommended me here. It seemed that he was a highly known person, because with his help I got here. Of course, his recommendation wasn’t the only thing I needed. I was put through many tests, but every each one of them was testing something that I have too much of, my intelligence.
Anyway, those tables, that everyone receives after their fifteenth birthday, couldn’t help me. They are invisible to anyone other than the person that they describe. Talk about useless stuff...
“Those idiots… If I could just…” I heard Roy’s voice, and when I looked at him, he had an angry expression on his face.
“Don’t worry about them.”
“Don’t worry about them? If I could just…”
It seemed that there wasn’t anything that I could tell him, to make him calm down, so I just stopped talking.
We walked like this for another ten minutes, going few floors down, when we finally arrived outside. As I left the building, I looked around. We were standing next to a big garden, with many beautiful flowers, and big trees. In the distance I could see a really massive, and beautifully made white building, that looked like something from baroque.
It was probably half a kilometer away from us, and a road through the garden lead to it.
“No matter how many times I see it, it still leaves a big impression on me…” Roy said, while looking at the university.
“And what should I say? I’m but a commoner.”
“Don’t even joke like that.”
Yeah, Roy was a good boy, and a nice friend. From the very beginning he didn’t judge me based on my origin, and just treated me like someone his age.
Yeah, Roy was nice friend but it was hard to talk to him naturally. He doesn’t see even the half of the things, that I see. From the time we left our room, to now, I saw so many things, that it’s scary.
This intelligence of mine is scary. The things you can deduce only after looking at someone for a short amount of time are scary.
“What are you thinking about?” I heard his voice once again, but now he was looking at me.
“Nothing… Let’s go.” I replied, and we started walking towards the university.

Some time ago, a planes-traveling archmage made up a video game to train some people on the planet Earth for the catastrophe he knew was coming. That game was the Power of Ten. The gods seized this opportunity to take the templates of some of those characters, and even their souls, for use in other worlds, and other realms. Sama Rantha is one of those characters, and is going to find out that being a Hagchild and having to survive after your Hag Curse fails to murder you at birth is much, much less fun than setting it as your Race at level One on a gamescreen. Join Sama Rantha on her Road to Ten, and letting her Hagmother know exactly what she thinks of her... ------ Warning: This book starts with a HARD OPEN! It was written as an extension of other stories that have not made it onto the Internet yet for National Novel Writing Month in Nov/2018. Sci-fi/Fantasy/psionics mashup, grimbright clashing with grimdark! Sama is sent into a setting she'd rather not be in, but the heart of a powergamer never says no, even in the crapsack galaxy of the Tellurian Empire.
