On a small blue marble, somewhere in the Midwest united states, there is a girl who just wants another normal day. Today was supposed to be a normal day, although sad. A girl wakes up after crying herself to sleep. The day before she had broken up with her boyfriend.

The relationship had been so sweet, doing everything together. Going on vacations, .and just enjoying each other's there company. At least that's what the girl thought. She had learned, he had been talking to other girls, behind her back, the entire time they'd been together. She was just a stop-gap to him until he found someone better. At least that's what he said when she found the messages.

What was worse to the girl, was that he didn't understand why she was mad, saying he'd never done anything with them, she should be happy he hadn’t found anyone better. He even tried to turn it around on her saying, she was the problem not fulfilling his needs.

She thought she kept her composure well when she only yelled at him, not thrashing him like she felt she should have. It wasn't till she got home that she let her emotions out, crying herself to sleep.

Though it had already been a week, since that happened at night she felt the betrayal the hardest. The girl resolved herself to get back to normal. So today was supposed to be a normal day, she was to go to work. And later that night she would be going to the circus. It was going to be a nice normal day.

——

The day was over as the sun began to set. The girl went home and readied herself for a night of enjoyment. The circus was just the thing to cheer her up.

She called for an Uber, and a large SUV showed. She compared the picture to the driver, and the make and model finding they matched. She thought the driver looked familiar, but she put it to the back of her mind as she sat in the back.

“How are you doing tonight?” The driver asked as the girl put her seatbelt on.

She let out a long sigh not wanting to talk, but feeling it would be rude to not repsond, “Just looking forward to the circus.”

“Many are.” The man chuckled at his private joke before addressing the girl, “Surprised you got tickets.”

“Won them on the radio.” The girl smiled remembering she had decided to call in on a whim. The first time she had ever done so, and she won.

“Heard this one was world-class.”

“Really?” She didn’t even know there was a circus in town till the radio contest and she hadn’t bothered to look anything upon it.

“Yeah, the last person who went there said it was like a dream.

“I could use that right now.” The woman looked out the window feeling tired.

“Well, we will be there soon.” The man pulled out and the two drove off.

The woman smiles as the driver turned silent as she felt herself falling asleep.

An unknown time later she heard the man's voice.

“Mam. Mam. Wake up. We're here.” The voice came from the front of the car.

The woman groggily started to wake up, “Huh?”

“We're here mam.” The man turned giving her a concerned look, “You must have been really tired.”

“Yeah.” The girl slowly got up and looked out the window to see the circus right ahead of her. After unbuckling she gets up and opens the door, “Thanks.”

“You have a nice time now.”

“I will.” The woman smiles gets out and walks into the circus.

The entire circus was a dream as the woman drifted through the circus taking in everything it had to offer. At some point, she found herself with a funnel cake, and a caramel apple laughing like a little girl. Trying to eat the funnel cake like a cookie covering herself in sugar.

The night went on as she found her seat for the main show. She barely remembered what she saw, it was impossible, incredible, and indescribable. She only knew she felt right, in this place. Not like when she served truckers, but here and now this felt right.

The woman found herself wandering the circus for a while before feeling pulled to a small trailer. She walked up to it and knocked.

A man in a rhinestone coat and hat opened the door smiling surprised.

“What can I do for you miss?”

“I would like to join the circus.” The words flowed out of her surprising herself. She didn’t know why she did this, but it felt like it was something she needed to do.

The ringmaster raised his eyebrows amused, “What can you do?”

The girl shrugged, “No idea. I just wandered over.”

The man smiled, “Well miss wanderer, welcome to the circus.” The man took the woman's hand and she felt magic flow through her. Making her feel younger and full of energy. Today had turned out to not be a normal day for the girl. Today had turned out to be extraordinary.

——

Just outside a trailer behind a circus, two people stand watching a woman join the circus.

“Would you call that a hero delivery?” A woman asked.

The man laughed, “I have no idea, I just drove the Uber picking her up. The rest was up to her.”

“A hero for a circus or a circus for a hero?” The woman asked thoughtfully.

“Why not both.”

“Sounds nice.”

The man went silent for a minute, before speaking softly, “Sparks of hope.”

“You could be a poet.” The woman says sarcastically.

The man lets out a snort.

The two turned opening up the truck, the man catches the eye of the ringmaster and smiles.

The ringmaster looks surprised, as he watches a rift open to a place that both never was and always been, the truck driving through to other worlds.
