“Hey, Treebo. What are you doing?” Kendra asked as she walked into the Grand Cavern.
“You know, Tree shit.” I replied. “Also, I like it. Treebo. Sounds cuddly.”
“I’m always looking out for you.” Kendra replied. “So what are you doing down here?”
“I discovered something wonderful.” I explained. “I can use my Treepods, patent pending, for more than just respawning you meatbags after you die. I can use them to make new creations. Wanna see?”
Kendra facepalmed. “Are you perverting the natural order of things down here?”
“No. Maybe. Come on, it’ll be cool.” I replied. “Don’t make it sound weird.”
Kendra said nothing and just waited for Treebo to continue. “I’m going to have everyone call you Treebo.”
“Well, I’ll just have everyone call you the lorax.” I replied. “Because you speak for the Tree.”
“I’m pretty sure the lorax was of the dude persuasion.” Kendra replied.
“What about, The Lorelai.” I said. “Yeah, Whenceforth you are The Lorelai. You speak for the Tree.”
“What about Queen Bitey?” Kendra asked. “Doesn’t she speak for you?”
“Queen Bitey is more of the ruler of the underworld. She is the keeper of my roots.” I explained. “She is the rock upon which I grow. It is a very prestigious title.”
“Are you going to show me what you have been working on?” Kendra asked again.
“Yes. This way please.” I directed Kendra to a side cavern to the grand cavern. “Welcome to the room of experimentation.” I grandly stated. “Check this one out. It’s a mix of those stupid coyotes running around and some sort of mushroom I found growing. I call it a Spryote. Three syllables. Spa-ro-te. Say it.”

“No.” Kendra flatly replied. “I am not encouraging you.”
“Fine be that way.” I sulked. “It has a couple of special attacks. It has a vine whip thingamabob, a spore cloud attack and the devour skill.”
“This is an abomination of the natural order of things Treebo.”
“Check this one out.” I continued on. “This one is made of cats and bees. It’s the cat's bees. I call it a Meowbee.”
“This is a terrible idea, Tree.”
“It gets better.” I assured Kendra. “It has a stinger in its tail for its tail sting attack. And it can combine its buzzing with its purr for its Double Buzz Purr.”
A heavy droning sound filled the cavern as the Meowbee demonstrated its hypnotic buzz purr. Kendra fell silent as she was hypnotised by the melodic sound. Tree finally had to shoo the Meowbee away.
“So what does the buzz purr do?” Kendra asked when the effect wore off.
“Uh, nothing. Nothing at all.” I wisely decided to lie.
“You’ll like this next one.” I quickly continued as he tried to change the subject. “It’s a mix of a bumblebee and a dog. I call it a bumblewoof. It mostly just collects things. I haven’t figured out how to make it do anything. So it is mostly just a cute little bumble woof. Who’s a good little bumblewoof, yes you are.” Tree said as he made awful baby noises at the bumblewoof.”
“How does it fly?” Kendra asked.
“I have no idea.” I replied. “I assume magic of some sort. The details are all very technical and not for the likes of you to know.”
“Fuck you Tree.” Kendra said testily.
The cavern suddenly rocked from a distant explosion. Little streamers of dust fluttered down from the ceiling.

“What was that?” Kendra asked me. She had never seen anything able to affect the tree down below.
“Hold one.” My voice trailed off as my attention extended to the edges of my domain. “Oh, those dirty bastards. They’re training mobs on us.”
“Who is?” Kendra asked.
“Those army bastards that have been trying to sneak in here for forever.” I said. “Kendra get up there and rally the defense. Be my Lorelai. I’ll be sending reinforcements up shortly.”
Kendra turned and ran for the exit.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.

There were no boundaries, it was endless, nothing to indicate that there was something within the distance. He grasped his hands and looked upwards towards the sky as he lifted his hands up. A dark void appeared in front of him, but only to disappear once again. Voices entered his thoughts, pain struck his head, he gripped onto his hair and groaned in agony. He looked forward and saw an image blurred in front of him, fading in and out. “Young one... “ the blurred image simply spoke. The young boy didn’t say anything and only looked down at his wound on his chest. It was a large gaping hole that passed through him, however there was no blood spilling out from it, the veins and arteries only dangled in place where a heart was supposed to be. Realising the cause of this scene the boy asked. “Am… I dead?” “Hahaha, no not at all.” A wispy tired voice simply chuckled “Then… what do you want with a dead man… but my hands...boy?” “ Well Do you…” “Do I?” “Want to change fate?” Welcomed edits and suggestions.
