《Isekai kami desu ka? -- (God of another world is it?)》Chapter 8: “Hidden” Talent

Chapter 8:
My name is Watanabe Kaito. I’m was just your average high school student until yesterday; but something miraculous happened. I was whisked away to an alternate dimension. In this world I’ll get skills; and levels that allow me to get stronger by fighting monsters. It seems like I am a chosen hero, who has to defeat the demon king…? I’m just your average loner otaku, I play games, mostly romance and RPGs. So getting transported over here was about all I could have wished for… well most of it at least.
{{The princess was pretty cute when I told her I could help. Actually… There are a lot of good-looking servants}}(Kaito)
Laying back on his king-sized bed in an overly embellished room, Kaito gave off a refreshed sigh.
“Hero-sama, Your breakfast is ready.”(Two maids enter the room)
Standing up Kaito is assisted with his dresswear, seemingly pleased with the amount of attention the maids were giving him. Checking out each of their figures, Kaito leers over the two of them intensely. Quickly completing their duties the two of them leave, and a new maid opens his door addressing Kaito.
“Hero-sama, this way.”(Maid opens the door and directs Kaito down the hallway)
She was a tall, busty, dirty-brown haired maid. Her shoulder length wavy locks tucked under a classical white bonnet. Donning a black work dress accented with a wide black belt across her torso and a lace apron, her facial expressions were heart-soothing. Walking down the hallway together to the dining hall, Kaito couldn’t help but sneak a few peeks at her “assets”.
“Was your rest alright last night; Kaito-sama?”(Maid asks Kaito as they walk)
A little startled by his name being called; Kaito stands frozen for a few seconds. Before taking another step he tries to remember her.
“Have we met before?”(Kaito asks scratching his head)
“Oh my! No, I guess we haven’t.”(Maid responds)
Giving an elegant curtsy with each hand grasping the sides of her dress, she introduces herself. Her eyes closed she gives a gracious dip forwards; her chest, not going unobserved by Kaito.
“My name is Hana, I am the leading maid put in charge of your personal caretakers.”(Hana)
“Ah! It’s very nice to meet you then, Hana-san.”(Kaito)
Hana became red in the cheeks and awkwardly the two of them kept walking down the long hallway.

[7:00AM]
Dalhurst Main Square
Looking out into the crumbling roundabout, the scout squad from the Briniel Empire scanned the wreckage for survivors. The horrific scene was enough to turn the stomach of any seasoned soldier; and since the incident was nearly a whole day ago, the whole place had started to produce a gastly stench.
“It’s clear over here!”(Squad member)
“Over here too!”(Another adds)
Turning over large pieces of rubble, and using life detection magic, the knight’s squad managed to find a single demi-human child, who was protected by their mother at the time of the explosions. The child no older than four, seemed to be in a state of shock.
“Wait, I see someone!”(Squad member)
Pointing down off the side of a large staging area, was a form that was incomprehensible to them. Kneeling on the ground was a beautiful platinum haired angel, her palms on the ground along with her forehand; she seems to have been there for a long time. Dust had already collected and settled on her pose. The men looked in awe; at the golden light-emitting halo that adorned her head. Her wings miraculous; black shimmering with silver down the veins.

"Huh, who is that. I've never seen an angel like that…" (Squad rookie)
Slowly walking up to the new figure; the knights couldn't help but be wary. As they approached they noticed that… She was shaking in a seated position. One thing was clear; despite her conspicuous exterior, she was just as terrified as the rest of them. Looking up at the unfamiliar faces the only thing she could ask was:
"Is it over?" (Akari asks.)
The soldiers took a moment to look around, before nodding back at Akari. The moment she got a reply she fell limp.
"Who the hell is she?" (Squad rookie)
"I have no idea, but she looks important." (Squad Captain)
Touching the glowing ring above her head with the hilt of his shortsword, it makes a familiar metallic chime. Lifting her up off the ground the soldiers carried her back onto the carriage with the rest of the injured. Other than dozens of carcasses littering the ground; the roundabout was clear of survivors stuck under rubble. A large crater filled with a crimson mixture, a brand new stage left in rubble, and all the main roads destroyed; Dalhurst will have a tough time clearing this up even with the use of their advanced magic.

[8:30AM]
Royal Family Living Quarters - Dining Room
“Hero-sama! It’s this way!”(Hana the maid points inwards to a large set of double doors.)
Entering the room, there were a few unfamiliar faces; two young men, maybe a year or two older than himself. As well as Riza seated next to another tiny girl. A servant quickly pulls out a seat for Kaito, and tucks him under the table; somewhat uncomfortably.
“Kaito-san, how was your rest? Satisfactory?”(Riza asks)
“I guess you can say that. Although the size of the room does kind of intimidate me still.”(Kaito laughs it off)
{{Would have been a lot nicer if you had sent someone to keep me “company”}}(Kaito)
Looking around the table, Kaito was surrounded by beautiful nobles. Although they weren’t very similar in personality; they all shared the royal bloodline’s brown hair and emerald green eyes. It seems this is the breakfast table dedicated for the siblings. After scanning around the room for a moment, he finds that his eyes meet with the smaller girl next to Riza.
“Are you really a Hero-sama?”(The little girl spouts out at Kaito, somewhat unimpressed.)
*eek*(Riza immediately covers her mouth)
“Don’t go saying something rude to the Hero! I saw him appear with my own two eyes.”(Riza pesters the younger girl while poking at her sides affectionately.)
“Pardon, this one... Felt-chan can be a little… plain-spoken.”(Riza apologies)
Looking down at the bright eyed girl, Kaito didn’t really feel any urge to continue conversing with her; but from the interactions between the female siblings, Kaito had concocted a plan.
*Mutter mutter*(Kaito holds his chin talking to himself.)
{{Seems like she’s the sisterly type then. I’ll have to get the sister to like me, before I try to raise any flags. Otherwise I’ll hit a bad ending.}}(Kaito)
Brought back to reality by the arrival of his meal, Kaito was stopped before his first bite.
“Oh! That reminds me; Kaito-san you and I are going to head to the church later this morning”(Riza)
“The church? What are we doing over there”(Kaito asks before devouring a large cut of rustic crepe.)
“Well, you will be getting your status information, and after your baptism; I need to head there for a few things at the same time, so going together works well.”(Riza responds)

“Uh, Excuse me for a while”(Riza)
Tugging on Riza’s arm, Felt whispers something into her ear; before the two of them dash off down the hallway together. A little confused, Kaito looks to the other two left at the table.
“Where did they go? ...uh..?”(Kaito)
“Randal Azaroth, And this is my step-brother Leo. They probably are just having some girl talk.”(He says holding his hand out pointing to the other)
“Nice to meet you Leo”(Kaito)
*Pfft*(Leo stands up and leaves the room)
“Don’t mind him too much Kaito-san, Just focus on getting your abilities properly assessed this afternoon. I have high expectations for you in the front lines.”(Randal)
Finishing his meal before Kaito; he too, stands up and leaves the dining hall. Randal had the presence of a soldier, while Leo had trouble with other people’s presences altogether. Now alone in the dining hall, Kaito finishes his meal, and was awaiting assistance from the servants. A little lost as to their whereabouts, he decided to take the time and make it his “own”.
{{Ooo la la, thought you could hide from me}}(Kaito)
Reaching out over the expansive table Kaito picks up the glass cup that was seated directly in front of Riza. Without the slightest hesitation, he is grotesquely licking both the inside and out. That is until a maid walked in, however she was none the wiser.
*wipes mouth on sleeve*
{{Now then…}}(Kaito)
“Princess where are you…? I can’t wait for our little date.”(Kaito whispers to himself as he walks down the hallway)

[9:00AM]
Briniel Empire - Elise’s Chambers
Seatted bedside to Elise, Felt stares with a worrisome expression as Riza replaces the damp towel on her forehead.
“Is Elise-oneechan going to be alright?”(Felt asks Riza)
A little distraught herself, Riza collects her faith and smiles back at Felt. Reaching over and patting her on the head, Riza kneels to match eye level.
“I’m sure she’ll be just fine! It’s only been one day, Of course you’d be tired if you had to carry another person all the way here from another world.”(Riza pokes fun, making an exhausted expression.)
Felt giggles in response and nods in accordance. The two of them glanced over Elise silently for a moment before Riza broke the silence once more.
“Well, isn’t it time for you to get ready for your math tutor! I’m sure he won’t be as forgiving as last time if your late today..”(Riza teases)
A look of dread as well as urgency flashed upon her being. Quickly getting up, Felt excuses herself and darts out the door; knocking one of the cleaning staff’s carts as she erupted suddenly into the hallway.
“Hey! Be careful!”(Riza shouts out the door)
“Sorry! I’ll be back as soon as I’m done with my lesson”(Felt responds while fleeing)
*sigh*(Riza)
Standing partially in the hallway; a hand suddenly rests on her right shoulder. Immediately she looked back.
“I guess it doesn’t matter what world you’re in, Kids will be kids.”(Kaito)
A little spooked by his sudden appearance she flinched out of reflex.
“Something wrong?”(Kaito)
“Ah.. No nothing. Why are you here?”(Riza)
Staring back into the room with Elise, acting quite overprotective Riza awkwardly stalls him.
“Well, I mean… Aren’t we suppose to head to the church about now. It’s already 10 o’clock.”(Kaito)
*ah*(Riza said with a red face.)
Walking down the hallway gallantly several steps ahead of Kaito, Riza lead him to a carriage prepared for their trip. The insides of the carriage lined with fine fabrics and jewel encrusted molding on the ceiling/footboards.
“As expected of royalty, this carriage is something else. Well still not as good as my dad’s CR-V at home.”(Kaito said in an outloud reflection)
“Sea are vee?”(Riza asks with a puzzled look)
“Ah don’t worry about it.”(Kaito chuckles to himself)
Kaito and Riza, along with two servants and a carriage driver made their trek to the church. The ride was excruciatingly long for Kaito whom was use to the bullet train to get to school.
[15 Minutes later]
*sigh*(Kaito)
“How long is this going to take?”(Kaito)
“Huh? Maybe a little over 90 minutes by carriage.”(Riza said with a happy expression, having enjoyed the bustling city so infrequently.)
As observant as ever, Kaito susses out Riza’s feelings, viewing them the only way he could.
{{Ah, so she’s one of the sheltered Heroines, seems like she’s easily excited about the outdoors.}}(Kaito)

[10:45AM]
South-East Dalhurst - Noble’s district.
“Dear Kami-sama, Please help Oka-san come back quickly.”(unknown child’s voice)
Light pierces through fine white curtains, elegant furniture positioned in a comfortable fashion. Laying on her back, Akari wakes up to see a small demi-human child kneeling at the foot of her bed.
“And… If it... isn't too much trouble… “(little boy)
Startled by her sudden upright position, the child fell onto his back. Staring up at the spectacular angel, he could only gaze in awe, with mouth left wide open.
{{Ah god, my head hurts. What happened to Kinzo-sama}}(Propping herself up with one arm, Akari reaches and rubs her head.)
Reaching around, she finds the halo still firmly hovering a few inches above her head. Looking at her wings they were still in their black form.
*sigh*(Akari)
{{I guess he must be alright if I am still like this right? Actually.. Can he even be killed?}}(Akari)
Thinking it over for a while in somewhat of a playful attitude towards Kinzo, the child in front of her went strictly ignored. Perhaps it was the servant pact, but Akari could not find fault with her master’s decision.

[11:15AM]
Briniel Empire - Church of Maya
The two of them entered a set of large double doors into the church nave. The whole structure made of white marble, spotless with an amazing gloss. Large pillars with intricate facing support the amazingly high ceilings. But also allow for the colored light from stained glass to enter and flood throughout the room.
“The new hero has arrived!”(A strange voice booms out over the lobby)
Arriving in white robes embroidered with golden lace at the perimeter, an older plump bald man makes his appearance in front of the two. Extending his arms outward in a prophetic way, he addressed the two of them. His face seemed friendly, yet Kaito knew his type. Ignoring a lot of the neurotic speech Kaito hurried the conversation along.
“This is a momentous occasion! By the blessings of Maya alone will we strive through this holy war!”(Priest)
*Pfft*(Kaito stiffles to cover his amusement.)
“Ah, yes. Well I’m here for my status.”(Kaito.)
“And I’m here to see Lupin, is he in his study?”(Riza asks)
Nodding to Riza with a smile, he points over to a door at the back corner of the room, urging her silently. Turning back to Kaito with a considerable pause, waiting until Riza leaves; he speaks once more.
“Right, right you are! Come just over here, Place your hand on the altar.”(Priest)
Reaching over a large stone tablet that rests upon a redwood alter, the markings and magic circles begin to light up. Each ring a different color, but each responsible for a different section of the magic. Appearing upon the altar was a holographic screen, detailing all of his stats and abilities.

“Oh look I got a skill.”(Kaito says out loud.)
Amazed by his luck he ignores his below average stats and investivages his strengths.
{{Dimensional Shift… Level one huh, What does it do?}}(Kaito)
Notice: So your an otherworlder huh!? Then this is the power for you! Not only does it come in handy when carrying things around, but it also protects you from negative reactions to our world, and finally will be the ability that allows you to return to your old world! Well… That is if you level it up a lot, and get tons of “EXP”. Really I don’t understand most of this language, but I’m sure things will be fine. Good luck! - Maya
Freaking out for a moment Kaito looks around and asks the priest if this is normal. Nodding his head the priest elaborates.
“I take it you have been given advice by the words of the goddess. The voice that knows no bounds, no limits. Quite the honour.”
Calm, but a little confused about his ability, Kaito incants a short phrase while reaching out towards the middle of the room.
[{Dimensional Shift}](Kaito)
Silence… Nothing happened at all.

Although, I hope you enjoy! I'll probably write around 2000 words or more per chapter, but on average a bit more. If you're wondering, the cover art is drawn by me, just in case you thought I wasn't giving credit to the creator. This story might often times lean more into the comedy side of things, but stuff can still get pretty serious at times, especially in the later chapters. The story isn't super dark or anything, but character death is of course going to be a thing. Who? Well, you'll find out, eventually. Also, I'll upload chapters on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I hope you enjoy reading this little hobby of mine!
