《Bugs》Book 2 Epilogue

“Huff! Huff!” The dry breathing of someone running through the dark forest resound through the forest. The man was dressed in a black cloak making it impossible to distinguish his features but he ran with purpose.
Every so often he would stop and pull out a strange compass before running towards where the needle pointed.
After hours of running he finally reached what seemed to be an abandoned village covered in plants and trees. Only a single place looked even remotely different which was a temple at the back of the village.
Walls surrounded the village covered in plants but if someone looked at it properly, they would discover that the walls were not rotten and were new while the plants held a faint magical energy to it, clearly made by magic.
The man walked through a well hidden opening after checking the surroundings and snuck towards the temple before quietly entering it.
He looked around before going to the stone pedestal and kneeled. Near the bottom was a carving in the form of a cross.
The person’s hand came out revealing a rosario that he placed into the opening.
“The god of light leads us to extinguish evil.” he spoke. The rosario suddenly began to light up and a magical circle formed under him. He removed the rosario only to vanish from the spot.
Several dozen meters under the ground, he appeared within a dark room lit by weak magical crystals.
He walked through the room into a corridor which led into a massive stone room where many religious zealots walked around doing their jobs.
They bowed to the man as he walked to the back where an old man stood.
“Reporting to the High Priest.” he said.
“Speak.” the old man said.
“I have located three small groups of recruits and possible demon cultists.” the cloaked man said.

“Good, send the paladins.” he said.
“Also… that man you seek, I have gotten news of him.” He said.
The old high priest’s eyes widened as a flash of viciousness appeared in his eyes. “Where?” he asked.
“He is the first to reach the south west region, Sandora Savannah. What do you wish this servant to do?” he asked.
“The west and south west are blocked by a barrier. It requires us to go through the Sandora desert, it is too much effort for so little gain. Bid our time and recruit more followers for our just cause to hunt down all these bug cultivation heathen.” the high priest said.
“As you wish, my liege.” the cloaked man said and retreated.
The high priest turned and looked at the statue of a god behind him but said nothing more.

The Court of Souls?
What do we talk about tonight?~“How about a story?”~Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one.~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~Was it strong then?~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it?~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~So he became a hero and changed the world?~»…”~Tell me.~“Nooo, that’s not how the story goes. This isn’t a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was… kinder than the rest.”~A kind demon? How boring.~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~So tell the story!
