Chapter 15 The Beginning - Goblins (Part 3)
With a nod from both of them, “Okay let’s go!”
After ditching the earlier group of goblins they’d doubled back to find the smaller group. The group decided to go about this as safely as possible, small groups at a time before working their way to the larger groups.
Also instead of going back to get Hannah, they all agreed that it would be better to leave her in case something happened. It would be best that one of them be in good enough condition to take care of the others if worse came to worse. Mostly Daichi thought Kaden just really wanted to avoid putting her in danger until he felt strong enough to protect her, since it was his idea from the start.
Finding the smaller group that they thought they saw earlier, Daichi checked the goblins with his skill.

Weapons in hand he described the goblin group to the others. Daichi told Ava to go for the two unarmed ones at the front after he charged in and engaged the first two and Kaden the other two.
Daichi informs them that he will take the stronger ones and changed the strategy for the first time. He put his knives away. Instead he took out one of the short swords for the first time and held it with two hands. These goblins were small and he couldn’t keep taking hits when fighting lesser monsters.
Thus Daichi decided to use the range from the sword and get some experience using his best weapons. Hiding around the corner they waited for the goblins as they started to pass them by at an intersection in the town. After the first four passed Daichi tensed up on his sword, waiting for the second the others show their backs…
They passed them by unknowingly and Daichi immediately moved forward confirming his two targets with

Getting into what he believed they called it in the martial arts club, an inside right pose. Daichi held his sword at chest height and pointed it right in front of him, with his left wrist facing upwards and his right holding it further back on the hilt facing downwards. In position he pushed himself out of a crouching stance and charged forward. Keeping his sword in position ready to pierce his first opponent. Just as the goblin noticed Daichi’s footsteps and turned around, Daichi thrusted his sword forward making only a grunting noise of exertion before piercing the goblin right through the head. “NOW!” he yelled!
The goblins had noticed them and were screaming in their language but without having needed to say anything Kaden was already right behind one of them and stabbed one of Daichi’s goblins right in the back with both knives as he used his weight to push him to the ground all at the same time.
Not getting a chance to focus on anyone else Daichi placed his foot on the goblin’s chest and yanked his sword out and swung it in an arc motion to get rid of the blood on the blade before charging the next goblin.

With no weapon in hand the goblin could only put it’s arms up in a pleading motion while Daichi used the same thrusting move to bypass his hands and pierce him right in the chest. Letting go of his sword he pull out his knifes. Using two reverse knife grips he stab him twice in the throat and moved on towards the third goblin near him.

The goblin in front of Daichi had seen these humans attack like lunatics and tried to run away but Daichi jumped on its back and pierced him in the back multiple times until he was sure it was dead.
Meanwhile Ava had an equally easy time and had already melted through the chests of her two goblins and killed them without even having to go entirely through their chests.
Expecting Kaden to complain that he’d took his kill, Daichi got off his goblin while looking dismayed and walked up to the other two “Next group?”
Kaden turned to Ava “Ava you ready?”
“Yeah… Let’s go.” Looking down, Ava also seemed a bit off.
None the less, Daichi paid no mind as he assumed that perhaps the other two just weren’t too comfortable seeing so much blood. They moved on after Daichi got his sword back and jogged off to find their next targets. Daichi was inwardly complaining as he figured he’d killed three goblins but hadn’t felt that familiar sensation of getting stronger.
“I wonder if it’s because my level was higher than them or something else?” Daichi wondered.
The second group happened to be a group they haven’t seen. Since they haven’t found a pattern to the movements of the goblins they’d decided to just attack small or weak groups.
The entire town was intersection after intersection with crumbled structures all around. With plenty of rubble to hide behind, which was perfect for them in their current situation. When they this current group of goblins passed them, Daichi used his skill on them immediately.

“Super easy! Perfect group for us.” Daichi thought as his eyes widened with anticipation!
He told the others the levels and with no resistance they moved in behind them with no specific target in mind except for Daichi. Daichi was aiming for the level 7 goblin. Using the same strategy as before he used his trusting technique and this time his target managed to scream just before the sword pierced through his head.
Only his target happened to have a weapon and it was only a brick. The other three were easy for the other two to handle as Kaden finished two of them off and Ava dispatched of the one that tried to run away with her technique.
After cleaning up their weapons Daichi urged the others as they forward towards the next group, telling the others that leveling up wasn’t going to be so easy if this many goblins don’t do much for them.
This time they ran into the original group that they’d seen before.

Definitely the group they’d followed most of the day. Most of these goblins had no identifying features so they might as well all look the same with the only differences really being seen in their weapons so far. Some had some others didn’t
Feeling confident and annoyed they’d wasted so much time following these goblins in the first place Kaden and Ava couldn’t help but glare at them. Daichi pointed them out and told the others “I think we’re ready.” Looking a bit more motivated than with the previous group, they readied their weapons. Daichi planned to do things differently with this many goblins this time around. After picking up a knife earlier he was up to 3 disposable knives, so he was going to try throwing them and if failed, then he could fall back on using his sword.

Going around an intersection and getting ready as they hid. Using their same ambush tactic as they waited for them to pass them by. It had begun to feel a little routine to them already. Not focusing on levels due to their numbers, Daichi got ready to take out the ones closest to them. After they passed their group Daichi aimed at the first goblin that was closest.

Throwing one dagger at a time, the first two hit the goblin hilt first but the third was a success!
Right in the middle of the chest! Charging out and ignoring that weaker goblin, Daichi left it as an easy kill for Ava and slashed with all his strength at the other goblin as he cut into his chest and stomach getting his sword caught inside “EEEEK” The goblin screamed a loud pitched sound that personified its pain! Daichi could only think as he tried to pull his sword out “These goblins have such high pitched voices it’s ridiculous!”
Ugh. After yanking his sword out with all of his strength, one of the other goblins jumped on his back.
Temporarily Daichi trembled as he almost fell forward. That muscle contracting feeling passed through his body and left him stunned for a second before he regained his earrings.
Unable to get the goblin off Daichi jumped backwards onto his back. Landing with his full weight on the goblin and dealing some damage before rolling over and crouching. Looking around 6 of the goblins were chasing after Kaden who was evading them and buying time while Ava was just now finishing off the one Daichi had left for her.
Ignoring the thought of wanting to check his status window. Daichi lifted his sword above his head and brought it down with both hands letting gravity do its job as he decapitated the goblin that was finally coming to his senses.
“Ava! Take the two stragglers! I’ll help Kaden!” Daichi pulled his blade off the ground and ran towards Kaden. He was already cornered up against a wall despite his speed, and was fighting them off with his range but he’d already gotten multiple cuts.
Running behind the goblins Daichi swung his sword from side to side hoping to draw their attention from Kaden, letting Ava jump in at one of the goblins with no weapons and go straight for his neck with her skill as if she was going to strange him. She melted his neck with almost no resistance and got stabbed in the side by one of the goblin warriors.
Daichi noticed it and changed directions as he rushed at it and kicked it in the chest pushing it away as he reversed his grip on his sword, bringing it down and through it’s chest.
The goblin screamed in response to Daichi’s assault but he paid the goblin no mind as he pulled out his second sword with the same grip brought down the second sword down onto it’s neck to shut it up.
“Ava how are you??” he called out to the side while focusing on two of the goblins who were now paying attention to them.
With their numbers dwindled they looked furious but hesitant to attack anymore even though two of the stronger ones are still fighting Kaden.
“Ugh….. This hurts more than I thought, stay for a second while I use a potion.” Pulling another potion out of thin air, popping the top and downing it all in one motion her body began to glow like before. Noticing the goblins reaction to this Daichi pulled his swords out of the goblin’s corpse and got into a defensive position in front of Ava hoping they’d attack.
Both the goblins and Daichi made eye contact as the goblins turned their attention towards Ava as they noticed Ava’s glow receding. Their weariness now suddenly gone. They came rushing at Daichi and Ava.
Noticing how useless holding his swords like this was going to be. Daichi twirled them in his hands back to their regular grips and rushed at the closest goblin making a swiping motion with one of his swords and then hitting it with his shoulder knocking it down. Shifting his focus to the goblin still coming at him, he struck with his sword from above with a vertical strike and after it blocked with its knife Daichi thrust his other sword through it’s chest.
Eeeeekk! “Yet another annoying high pitched scream. Every time.” Daichi thought as he grimaced at the annoying sound.
He pulled out his sword and kicked the goblin with a sidekick backwards. Then when it lost its balance and hit the ground he took a few quick steps forward and put a foot on it’s chest and pierced it’s throat with another quick thrust. Focusing on the other goblin that had gotten up and was coming at him screaming lividly. It failed to notice Ava chasing behind him and tackling it to the floor as she melted through its back all the way out through it’s chest with her hands before it stopped screaming.
Daichi looked around as he noticed that all of the goblins were finally dead as he sighed in relief.
This had been the toughest battle yet. Ava was taking too much risk and damage by only fighting hand to hand with no real martial arts kills and relying on her melt skill and the only reason Daichi had been managing to get so many kills was due to Kaden being such a great distraction but there were too many flaws in their strategy. “We’re too inexperienced for now.” Daichi concluded as he looked at the results of the battle.
As there was finally some calm, Daichi pulled up his status screen, and immediately looked at the differences.

Looking at the distance with a grimace “I’m not fast enough and at some point I won’t be strong enough. I’m not leveling up quick enough either.” was what had passed though Daichi’s mind as he stared at his window.
“Kaden are you okay, need any help?” Kaden just waved his hand dismissively, looking tired and dispirited. Even Ava looked out of it.
“Let’s call it a day, let’s get back and meet with Hannah and recap what we know and our next moves” Daichi spoke up and noticing no objections began to head back to the cellar. He could tell something was up with them but he didn’t know what and wasn’t sure if it should bother him.
In fact Daichi was a little bothered by their dispirited demeanor despite all of the great benefits from the day!

8 112The Hand of Sigmar. A Warhammer Fiction.
Adebar von Bolstedt was a normal young Aristocrat once. When confronted about his presence he claims to be led by the God-King Sigmar, but with the name of the Protector of Mankind come his responsiblities. Soon Adebar finds himself tasked with ridding a town of a mad killer, and settling some lethal family quarrels.Word from the AuthorGreetings! The Hand of Sigmar plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This work will be shorter overall, partly because its born out of a sudden passion, partly because I thought I'd try my hand at a more comfortable story than the grim darkness of the 41st Millenium (psychotic murderer and fraudulent holyman included). Depending on how this does and my time allows more adventures may be coming. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
