“Her name is Sparklight” [Tsikee]
“Sparklight…” [Lan]
The name of the weapon given to me.
It was a beautiful sword with a detailed handle and a plain scabbard; everything was made extremely light.
To test Sparklight, village chief Tsikee suggested something out of sorts
“Now that you’ve showed up, let’s go kill some bugs” [Tsikee]
“Bugs?” [Lan]
“B-bugs… you don’t mean…” [Stephan]
“Yep, exactly” [Tsikee]
“I didn’t say anything yet, chief!” [Stephan]
“What you’ll be hunting down are Vattles, pesky buggers…” [Tsikee]
“Pesky doesn’t even begin to describe them” [Stephan]
“…What exactly are Vattles?” [Lan]
“Vattles are giant metallic beetles that have been messing up our food; our mushrooms in particular. They really are a problem to be taken care of but isn’t that a bit too much for a weapon’s test, chief?!” [Stephan]
“HAHAHA! You’ll see little Pan, the potential this boy holds shouldn’t be taken lightly” [Tsikee]
“Eh? Really? Well… if you say so, I guess” [Stephan]
Stephan is acting really worried… should I be worried too?! I mean are those beetles that dangerous?
Ha~
Guess I’ll have to see to find out since the others aren’t here.
The injured got treated, some went home and Ruin went to make his report on the ninja’s records…
Ultimately, there isn’t anything I can do about it so I might as well take this challenge head on
“When do we start?” [Lan]
The village chief let out a foul grin-
“That’s more like it” [Tsikee]
.
.
.
“Here we are Lanny-boy, this is our Shroom room” [Tsikee]
“Your what?” [Lan]
“Shroom room” [Tsikee]
“Your what?” [Lan]
“Shroom room” [Tsikee]
“Your what?” [Lan]
“Shroom room” [Tsikee]
“OKAY, NOW… back to business” [Stephan]
Stephan seemed irritated for a second, I wonder why… or was it just my imagination?

The Shroom room was a poorly lit, damp room full of extravagant fungi.
There were different cubicles for different types of mushrooms and where we were headed was in the back row where the Leather Mushrooms were being grown
“It seems the Vattles have grown fond of our Leather Mushrooms since Leather Mushrooms are different from the rest, in a way” [Stephan]
“Different? How?” [Lan & Tsikee]
“Chief too?! … Well, unlike the other shrooms; which absorb water like sponges, the Leather Mushrooms absorb water from the atmosphere to nourish the leather skin on its’ cap. The leather sharpens the vattles teeth without damaging them which makes it their primary food supply” [Stephan]
“Ohhhh~ I get it now” [Lan & Tsikee]
“Chi-?! Whatever…” [Stephan]
“Now, what do you think Lany-boy, wanna give it a go?” [Tsikee]
“5,6,7…7 huh…” [Lan]
“They may look small in comparison to the beasts out there but do take note that they are extremely durable. Even when we exterminate them, we use heavy doses of poison just to kill one vattle” [Stephan]
“…” [Lan]
“Lany-“ [Tsikee]
“Now I want to do it even more” [Lan]
I don’t know what their ‘extremely durable amounts to but I think it will be fine.
I can feel my blood rushing through my head.
I really want to see this weapon in action.
How will the lightweight Sparklight be able to fair with an extremely hard shell.
I want to know.
I want to fight.
I want to ignite
