《I awoke as the hero of Oakvale》Chapter 8 Skill & Theory

Skill is a physical Will attribute like strength and also has its own experience type. When one trains skill attributes like speed their reflexes are faster or increasing Guile makes their hands/limbs steadier and thus stealthier. The increasing of the Accuracy attribute seems to enhance eyesight itself similar to Halo's eye blood vessel augmentation that increased blood flow to the eyes. One could say that the Hero of Oakvale was a lot like a super-soldier once he max's all available powers. This also has its limitations by being a "Jack of all trades but a master of none" but to completely ignore training a branch completely would be foolish. Coincidentally Jack of blades is a master of all branches so I must master each power better than him. What if one type is negated or becomes useless when fighting Jack? Then I will use one of the other ones in a way he didn't know was possible. It's like the saying goes, "Never put all your eggs in one basket".
So I plan to train all branches to some degree but to simply follow the basics would be a bit boring. Also, I don't want to end up looking like a massive gorilla after training Might like the protagonist always did at the end of fable if they were a warrior. Talk about being a bull in a china shop after becoming a literal mini hulk. Just too much bulk to handle in confined spaces or accidentally fumbling small objects in my hands like those resurrection Vials. That would be a horrific waste since those valuable objects are super expensive. It is going to be hard to get my hands on some of those before Jack arrives in less than six months but I'll find a way to do so.
There are many ways to make money in this world if one knows how. My mother and father are already stockpiling dried meat, jars of preserved fruits and berries, pickles, dried vegetables all for a training expedition to the void. It would take us a while to get together all the resources needed even with my mother's reserve of gold saved from being a hero. So I suggested using her guild seal's teleport function to transport goods and traders rather than escorting them through the monster-infested Darkwood. I don't know why the guild or any heroes never thought of this but it makes things much easier.

This new service Scarlet Robe started providing was in high demand as an escort was normally costs 500 gold anyway and she was charging a reasonable 300 for instant teleportation. What can I say I got my own start-up and I didn't even need a "GoFund me account" or a "Patreon". I created the uber of a magical medieval world. Now if I could only get my hands on another "Guild Seal" or better yet figure out how it works.
I have a theory based on how it looks like it works. The person appears to slowly turn into light and then back from light into themselves at the desired location. This somewhat makes sense as light can be both energy and a particle at the same time. Light also moves at a super-fast speed which explains how it appears almost instant. As of 2014 light could even be turned into a solid crystal by convincing it to act like regular solids. It was done by using a superconductive material shaped like a molecule placed around the light within. I, however, after learning light-based magic could just will it to do so. I knew this power exists because of Fable the Journey VR game. In that game, The ancient Hero Sol's power was shown to be light-based. His main spell was Bolt which was a blast of light. He even used healing that also somehow appears to use light as well. Maybe its an alteration of teleportation that puts parts of the body back where it was before? Or maybe light has a healing quality I don't know about but I could once again just use willpower to fill the gaps in my knowledge. There's also lasers and invisibility both of which would be useful against anyone. If I do get time to train a second Will ability it will be light due to its versatility and potential. This is all something I'll have to research later once we are back in the void.
The issue at hand now is training skill attributes. Since skill seems to work mostly with enhancing the nervous system I have to be careful with how I proceed. The Skill attribute screen in one version of the game even showed the nerve's lit up/glowing within the body image of the menu. This is where I want to try and break the threshold of my body's limits. If I can make my impure nerves conduct better than normal my reflexes will be greater than humanly possible. The answer already exists in this world. The silver augmentation is used in fable to give an attribute of silver to weapons in the game. It increases damage to balverine's who are allergic to silver and undead who are hurt by the holiness of silver. Pure silver is the most naturally conductive metal of electricity on earth. Making it superconductive just requires making it freezing cold. It even conducts heat well but that's not relevant to my current problem. So I need to transfer an augmentation not to a weapon but to my nerves using my willpower. Not to mention I need to find one first and they are rare as a dragon riding unicorn who wears fedoras.

Since this augmentation does not require me to hold off training Skill entirely I've started by training speed. First, all I had to do was form another core layer with Skill experience energy around my Will pool. it really was layered like an onion. At the center was the Will pool itself and around it is the Skill sphere. Then the strength/might sphere is layered over it. My blue will energy and yellow Skill energy pass through the Might sphere in what appears like glowing sparks. It is actually quite beautiful and if I could take a picture I would.
Theresa's archery training interrupted my thoughts as she made light work of dozens of wasps with arrows.
"Impressive!" was all I could muster to say.
"Yeah, with my accuracy ranked up two levels and my foresight it's easy to hit them now", Theresa responded.
"Wait, how does foresight help exactly wouldn't you have to memorize where they are going to be?" I questioned.
"no silly, I see a transparent image of the target where they are going to be in a second and I aim for that" Theresa responded with a smirk.
"I see... I didn't know it could be used that way", I responded. So that explains how Theresa could walk around on her own in the other timeline. Looking at Theresa now someone may almost mistake her for a 14-year-old due to her growing much taller. Her current babyface being the only real give away at her actual age. Training skill for some reason triggers a growth spurt and makes people taller. For a girl already overdue for such growth, she grew like a weed. In the next couple of days, I too would have such a growth spurt since I just trained speed to rank 1 but it wouldn't be a drastic as Theresa's. She has two ranks in accuracy and girls grow taller sooner than boys anyway.
After Training toughness to rank 1, I didn't become muscular but my body did become a bit more tone. To others, it might be weird to see a nine-year-old with abs but such concerns matter little to me right now. As for what to do with strength? There are three kinds of muscle fiber. White slow twitch which is bulky and the strongest but has no endurance. Red fast twitch which is faster and has better endurance but very little strength. Then there is Pink muscle which is good at all three but not the best at each. It is the Jack of all trades for muscle but since its tissue/fiber is very thin it's ideal for not becoming too bulky. The hard part is the insane workout regiment I'll have to do to train it. High-intensity muscle strain while moving very fast. There's a reason why I trained toughness before starting this regiment. It is because otherwise, this young weak body could break from too much strain. I nearly died from my last great adventure into the unknown after all.
Theresa saw the contemplative expression on my face and said, "Cheer up loser. you have a real hero watching your back after all". She then pointed at herself with a fake smug look on her face.
"Why are you so such an asshat sometimes?" I laughed back.
"Ha, whats an asshat? where do you buy it and how do you wear it?" She questioned barely able to contain her laughter.
"Stop your too much sis".
"Too bad, it's too late to get you one for your birthday. I bet it would look great on you", Theresa smirked.
