《Primal Adaptation》Chapter 3 [The Bets -1-]

Evalyne got out of the store with the orb in her hands. She could feel the little Spirit squirming at the changes it was getting in its core. She smiled at it while she brought it to her face.
"You will make me advance, little guy, but you better prepare. As for this moment, both of us will be in a bad situation, and we will have to adapt to survive."
The Spirit inside didn't understand any of the words but could feel the emotions behind them. Evalyne started walking but found herself stopping at the sight of the one who got her in this situation. A hulking humanoid made of purple vines and bark. Blue lights were coming from within him; he had a deep voice to match.
"Well, well, well, look at that. Evalyne found herself some Asther to buy a Soul for the games."
"I have already paid you, Mardok, and with interests at that."
"Yes, you did... Be careful, Evalyne. Being without energy in this place means death. I know you understand that. Also, I will not loan you not even a speck of Asther anymore. I hope that soul lets you advance because, without it, it's game over for you."
"Fuck you, Mardok" With that, Mardok left Evalyne trembling in anger. She had no more paths to follow, she only had to keep forward, and the little soul was her only chance at surviving.
Now, the games are an infinite thing. By the achievements of the creature or creatures you control, you gain Asther. You can use it to keep helping it grow and get more in return. Or you can use it to advance to the next layer or Tier if you are at the end of it.
It is simple, and even creatures that belong to Limited in primary tiers are in the same Void planet that the games work. It's generalized, so everyone can have their chance at winning big. That if its creature destroys some controlled by the upper-tier ones or thrives on its own. It is a bet for survival and chance. The problem is, the Limited can only make opportunities appear, not put them in the creatures.
Evalyne was heading towards the center of the city. A vast building positioned itself there; it looked almost like a Hexagon if you could see it from the top. It had a simple look to it but was almost like a maze inside, with many places to observe.
From the center, a beam of light reached towards the infinite gray sky. Inside exists chambers to canalize energy. Arenas to duel other Limited and take their power if you killed them. Luxury stores for the dazzling ones. Chambers to make transactions between two or more Limited, Etc.

The center of attraction for all was the Primal Adaptation games. These, conducted in a specialized manner, are the primary way for someone to get Asther.
Evalyne entered the building and got to the reception, and there was an android stationed; its job was to inscribe new contestants. Evalyne pressed forward with the orb in hand.
"Hello Ma'am, are you here to inscribe for the new planet or make bets?"
"I'm here to inscribe."
"Excellent. How many souls are you inscribing?"
"Only one."
"There are better chances at winning and making achievements with more souls, are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Very well, give me the orb to mark it for the games."
She gave the orb to the android, and it got a rune stamped in the center.
"Perfect, take it and go to the waiting area to begin the process. Your Id number is S-589."
She followed the instruction. Evalyne went towards a colossal metal door behind the reception where the android was. She entered an area filled with beings of many shapes, colors, energy; you imagine it, it's there. In the center of the room, a more significant android with gold details around its body was standing and looking at many screens with its countless eyes; after some minutes, it spoke.
"Welcome esteemed guests to a new season of Primal Adaptation. Each one of you has chosen to take part in this game, all for the chance of getting more Asther to advance in your purification process. We are glad to be your hosts in this plane of existence. Please, if you must, reach towards the area designed by your number. You can use the teleporter closer to you to get there." — The Android that worked as the host took a pause.
"After that, we can begin the process of choosing your creatures. The majority are born on the planet, but there are some exceptions as well. Choose one as your avatar or avatars if you have many souls with you. We like to clarify the ways you can win this game for the new Limited. Be it by supremacy over the planet with numbers or by making your creature the apex predator. You can even advance layers and tiers at the same time while your beast makes its path in this new world."
Evalyne got to a teleporter that transported her to a room with another device inside. There were many things to make herself comfortable inside. It looked like a Penthouse with a panoramic view of the Void.

At the center of this place was a machine with a Hologram. It projected the planet that got selected for the Primal Adaptation games. Above it was the name Scylla-X45. There were many screens to look at what the creature or creatures you had were doing. At the side was a slot for the soul orbs. A voice got transmitted to the room.
"Perfect, everyone has settled in. Please put your orbs in the machine. With that, we can begin by selecting the species you would like your creatures to have. You can only choose creatures existing on the planet. But, for this season, we have introduced animals of other worlds here."
The android continued — "As a way to make things interesting, there are plants, renewable minerals, and crystals. Each champion of yours can evolve on its own with the resources on the planet. Also, you can bring things outside of the world. That way, your champion can have an advantage over the other contestants, so take your pick. We recommend you choose a species compatible with the soul and the spirit so that It can have a better potential in the long run."
Evalyne did as instructed and pressed the orb in the slot. The same list with the traits of before presented again.
Earth Gekkonidae (Chimera) Traits
-Curious
-Perfectionist
-Bloodthirsty
-Intelligent (Tier 7)
-Athletic (Tier 6)
-Adaptable (Tier 8)
Potential: Tier 8
"Now, you can see a list of species compatible with the soul and other requirements."
Compatible Specimens Neutral Specimens
-Elemental Lizards
-Energy Lizards
-Physical Lizards
-Hidden Species
-Insectoids
-Golemites
-Animalia
-Plantera
-Energy Beings
-Abominations
Evalyne started to see the species. There were some recommendations with great synergy. She ignored the rest because the soul she had lived in the forest. But she didn't like the idea of it being an elemental lizard or a physical one initially, as It would set back its potential by following those more straightforward options.
Evalyne was going for the Energy lizards because those could control almost any energy source with short practice. The problem is that they are weak against physical attacks. She looked at the Hidden Species tab instead.
Hidden Species Some of these species did not originate on this planet. Because of these inconveniences, they get modified genetically to survive in this planet's environment. These species are only available in cryostasis eggs and put in harsh environments as a security measure to balance their abilities against the other creatures on the planet. Because of their potential, their bloodlines get restricted in the early stages of life. Extremophile Iguania Energetic Diploglossa Core Gekkonidae Parasitic Scincomorpha
"Mmmm, these are pretty strange. They are most likely the progenitors of some creatures in other places, that means they have many evolutions ahead, let's see..."
Extremophile Iguania These are reptiles capable of completely adjusting their temperature and pressure resistance, all at will and in extreme velocities. With time they can control the temperature of their bodies to make breath attacks of ice and fire. Energetic Diploglossa These reptiles can maintain or lose their limbs. They are perfect at controlling any energy in their body. They are born without the weakness of the energetic lizards because of their long and resilient bodies. They are extremely dangerous with each power they get and obtain direct control over them. With time they are capable of making energy clones. Core Gekkonidae This lizard has a core or more inside or outside its body to store any energy it consumes. The Core Gekkonidae can evolve into almost anything in sight with sufficient knowledge. They adapt to what they need the most, but they are weak in the early stages of its life because of this fantastic advantage. They have to be cautious in their first steps and can eat everything for future mutations. Parasitic Scincomorpha These lizards are capable of taking control of bigger beings than them. After that, they steal their traits to defend themselves when trying to find a better host. Because of this specimen's dangerous characteristics, it will start in a desolate area on the planet.
"I would have chosen the Diploglossa, but the Gekkonidae it’s the better choice because of the synergy. The problem is that I have to put it out of danger way. The traits of the soul will help in the endeavors the little guy might find. The curious trait might bring problems but also opportunities. if he eats good stuff, the better the mutation."
"We like to say to our guests that you only have 15 minutes to finish your selection. If you only have one creature, the start of the game will start in a week. That way, every soul will be in their respective host in time."
"Perfect, this is my choice. I have to see what this little guy can do by itself. Good luck, little soul, we will need it."
