Mr Rob and Mrs Julie; one of them was always usually in the house to look after me.
They never left me alone and took good care of me often taking me out to places.
The only problem with their affection was that it was difficult to exercise without getting their attention.
I decided not to be an ass and douche and to reciprocate the care they gave me by love.
I started calling them mom and dad after 1 month of being there. They were pretty happy with that and I could see it in their eyes.
The one thing that still confused them was what happened to everything I ate. I was very normal for a 10-year-old and never got fat or big due to my huge eating.
They took me to the doctors who after some tests and seeing my perfectly healthy results suggested I might have a very high metabolism which was very common amongst kids who were very active.
However, my parents denied this saying I rarely played and was always reading books or playing the flute. The doctor then suggested it could be because of my genetics which convinced my parents finally.
During summer break they took me to see their or my family.
I met my new grandparents from my mum's side. They were pretty happy to see me and were very careful not to upset me in any way.
However, after a while, they got used to me and started casually talking with me.
My parents were acting very unusual around them the first time they visited, especially mum. She looked very nervous when around her parents.
Strangely we never visited my dad's side. My mum diverted the topic to something else whenever I asked about my dad's side of the family.
I didn't stop with my practice and put in extra effort for my grade 8 flute exam.
I didn't know why I was doing this anymore. At first learning, the flute was just a form of training to improve my lung capacity. But after a while, it became something for me to seek achievement in. And that achievement was what I enjoyed doing.

It was September 1994. Schools started their new year along with that were serious talks about our year 6 exam (SAT's), along with choosing our high school for year 7.
When I came back to my flute teacher she was satisfied with my progress. At this point, she had gotten used to my rapid improvement with the flute. We kept practising until Christmas before I took my exam.
My parents invited my mum's whole family and their friends for Christmas.
For most of my parent's friends, it was their 1st time seeing me.
During the dinner, my grandparents kept boasting about me to my mum's family which made me very embarrassed.
After dinner, my grandparents asked me to play few Christmas Carols in the flute which I did for everyone without the help of my ability.
They all enjoyed it and clapped and suggested to me to play a few songs, which I did as long as I knew it or understood the tune or rhythm of the music. If I didn't I simply asked them to sing and I would join soon once I understood how it went.
Everyone went home except for my grandparents who decided to stay for the night as my dad asked them to stay. My mum didn't look pretty happy about this decision from my dad and I soon understood why.
My grandmother told my mum off for not inviting one of my mum's cousin who she hated apparently. I just smiled at this along with dad.
1 week later both my grandparents came to our home and along with my parents were all waiting for the call from my flute teacher.
My grandparents were looking more stressed than me, to which I just smiled and joked with them about it.
At 1 pm I got a call.
I got my results for my grade 8 flute exam.
I passed with distinction much to everyone joy and happiness.
We all celebrated for the night before going to bed.
The next day my parents asked which high school I wanted to go to.
"I am not sure which one to go to," I told them.
"How about you try a grammar school?" My grandad advised me.

"Grammar school? Aren't those very strict schools that need exams to enter or something, along with having to pay money to study there?" I asked my grandad.
"Well they are, but if you do really well in their entrance exam you can study with scholarship." My grandmother told me.
"Hmm, how tough are their exams?" I asked them.
"Don't worry about that. We can arrange for someone to tutor you for that." My mum told me.
I nodded my head. I don't think their exam could pose any challenge for me at the moment who is basically a walking fountain of university-level knowledge.
My parents applied me to a local grammar school and started doing the paper works for it. They also arranged a tutor to help me with the entrance exam.
The maths paper was really easy and quickly finished all the practise paper. However, I struggled a bit with the English paper and had to use my ability to easily pass through it.
My tutor was happy with my progress and after 3 weeks told my parents that I was more than ready for the grammar school test.
One of my exams was in March and the other was in April for both grammar school.
I got ready for both exams and took them. It was easy and I easily whizzed through both schools paper and had to wait with boredom for everyone else to finish.
My parents were worried about my grades while my grandparents assured them that they would cover for my fees should I not get enough grade.
3 weeks after my exam on March I was contacted by one school to say I had passed and was offered a scholarship if I needed it due to my results and my qualification of being a grade 8 flautist.
My parents gave a sigh of relief hearing that news.
Similar to that I was offered the same thing 3 weeks after my exam in April.
My parents decided to send me to the school with the highest A to A* grade pass rate.
Then I got prepared to take my SAT's exams which were easy as hell at this point.
My flute teacher told me in my last lesson that it was a pleasure to teach me and that I should keep practising the flute.
I nodded at her advice.
My SAT's were pretty easy and then it was preparation for the farewell of year 6.
Everyone was sad including the teachers, especially my friends from the care home that we would not see each other.
I visited Ms Connie on the last day of year 6 and told her I passed my Grade 8 and had got into a grammar school with a scholarship.
She and everyone were happy to hear that.
I spent the day with them, and my mum came to pick me up at 7 pm.
During my summer I had to fill in lots of forms with my parents. Apparently, I had to decide which sport I had to do.
I couldn't skip out on this and had to pick at least 1 sport to do on Wednesday. There was also after school extracurricular activity that I could also pick. I could only pick a maximum of 2 extracurricular activity.
From the list, I chose 2 extracurricular activities: Rowing and swimming. These two activities were known to use the whole body muscles.
For sports day on Wednesday, I picked archery as a sport. I had picked archery in order to improve on my aim for the future. I know a gun and bow is different, but as long as I got the knack of aiming then it won't be that hard to aim with a gun in the future.
Everything I picked was for training and getting stronger. It was so I had a better chance of surviving the shit storm that will rain down in a few decades.
After making my decision and buying all the necessary things required for school we decided to go to Scotland for holiday.
We spent 2 weeks exploring the mountainous region of Scotland and enjoyed trekking. I decided to take a break during these 2 weeks from exercising and just enjoy myself and let loose.
