《Friendship Overload》Ch. 37 Engage

After big brother Wilson declared himself King, the younger son took whatever was left and started his own family. Fortunately, he soon entered the realm of rank 4 giving him some level of authority.

However, since most of Theodore’s possessions were in his brother’s pockets, the Wilsons he led needed to find a niche through which to make a living. Unlike the Hunts, their knowledge of commerce was garbage at best, and their skills in alchemy were non-existent.

“However, what they did have were several rank 3s and the mages and commoners that served underneath them.”

“So, did they use them to extort people?” Ethan was getting used to the pattern.

“Yees…” Arthur answered awkwardly. “But first, they hunted mana beasts in the forest. They sold their flesh and mana cores to buy crops. And then… They killed a bunch of people, demolished their homes, and built farms over the rubble.”

“F**king pricks… Why bother trading for crops if they can just take them by force?”

“Very few commoners in this city aren’t attached to a noble. It’s usually just the sick, disabled, or extremely poor.”

‘Like Ana and her mom?’ thought Ethan. ‘Like the kid who starved to death before I took over his body?’ He was getting increasingly angry.

According to Arthur, the Wilsons couldn’t afford to challenge other Lords, so they spent quite a few years on the border between nobles and commoners. It was only after establishing their farms that the family could afford to live according to their status.

Well, since their crops had taken the family out of poverty, Ethan would use them to throw these bastards back in. To make it happen, the youth prepared thoroughly.

The following week he spent training with Ana during the day and hunting in the forest at night. By the end of it, his dimensional ring was full of mana cores. His pockets contained vitality and scent hiding pills.

Best of all, hidden within his black ninja like clothes were 2 balls of mana hiding his best creation within this lifetime. The poison was so ridiculously powerful that he could only contain it with a highly complex seal which had to be renewed every 30 seconds.

‘God, I miss rank 6…’ Containing the poison required so much mental energy that he could only maintain 2 doses and still function properly. Even so, he needed to hurry.

The boy made his way through the darkness with the agility of a cat. His steps left no sound. His body seemed to melt into its surroundings. He couldn’t use his normal abilities in case someone saw him, but so far, it did not seem to matter.

‘Careful… No more f**k-ups.’

Until the very end, no human, mage or otherwise, managed to detect him. Finally, after crossing half the city, his goal was in sight.

Just a few hundred feet in front of him, a giant tower of earth, crops, and magic was piercing the sky. By the end of the night, it would be less than rubble.
