It's a tearful moment guys, this story of mine has surpassed by previous one in vies and followers.(Sniff}

To answer a previous statement, when did I ever say Sarah was the number one girl at the academy? She just happens to be the one Plat likes- in this world there are many beauties thanks to, wait for it, SCIENCE! Sarah is in the top tier I guess, but no where near the top.

As always, your comments and ratings help me write the story, so keep it up and thx

Anyway- back to the story!

--------------------------

"What do you mean you don't know! Aren't you the best at this?" Steel cried out in shock.

M.M. whacked him on the head again.

"Quiet boy, I'm trying to think. I didn't your parents teach you any manners? Respect you elders." She shot back at him.

Steel rubbed his head in annoyance, she aimed for the same spot as last time. "What parents, not like we have a familial connection or anything." He muttered to himself, "Caretaker raised us just fine I'll have you know."

"Quiet! I can't think with you making a gloomy atmosphere over there." Steel shut his mouth.

M.M. regarded the boy in front of her. He was special, him making it to her so early compared to the other travelers was proof enough. Sure, plenty of travelers had wanted to leave the city, but for their own amusement killing monsters and dreaming of adventure. Those characters held little honor and desire for growth, they wanted strength for their own amusement. Only special players would be given the quest from the guards, same in every city.

"Curious conditions for this boy." She thought to herself, "While he hasn't trained any of his stats, he has gained 3 new stats so quickly and a decent amount as well. Charm and Faith are no big deal, but 11 luck is unheard of in a rookie. Also, that skill of his is interesting, and that mysterious blessing as well. He has good relations with the guards, but a powder keg with the mages."

Steel watched the woman in front of him lean toward him, her eyes locked on his form. He took advantage of the view, as she was still plenty of attraction for her...experience.

Her eye narrowed suddenly, "Boy, you weren't thinking anything rude just now were you?" She said in a dangerous voice. Steel shook hi head back and forth quickly.

"No ma'am, nothing of the sort."

She nodded, "Good." She leaned back and considered him for a moment. She folded her hands in front of her, "Boy, at this time I cannot make an accurate assessment about you, mostly because of that unknown blessing you have on you."

Steel cursed in his head, (Son of a Biscuit!!) as he realized the blessing was continuing to mess with him.

She continued, ignoring his obvious distress, "Even taking the blessing away, you are an interesting case. You haven't worked on improving you stats, but you gained some and have an S rank skill so early in the game. The best I can tell you is to do something with the guards, at least you have a high relationship with them. Becoming a guard, merchant, farmer, or something else that communicates with the guard would be your best bet."

"Wait, there are professions besides combat related ones?" Steel asked in surprise.

M.M. snorted, "Of course boy, who makes the food in restaurants and in adventure parties? Who makes the armor used by the guard? Who weaves trees together to make staves for the mages? There are all kinds of class professions out there, and every single one of them is important and has their own rules. Merchants rank up and down according to their wealth, Cooks rely on customer feedback and competition. It's a big world out there, and there is a job for everyone."

Steel scratched his head, "That's neat to learn about and all, but I can't leave the city unless I get a class."

M.M. shook her head, "No, just meeting me and hearing my advice will let you leave the city. I'll give you a stamp to show the guard your ready. That being said, don't wander too far, you are still far to weak for any real adventure right now. I advise you use you weapons to fight monsters until your tired and then return here to rest." M.M. looked him and and down and frowned again, "Where are your weapons anyway, I know you should at least have some from the training hall.?"

Steel pulled the tower shield out from behind the chair and showed it to her. M.M. looked at it and laughed loudly.

"Hah ha ha ha, heh, really boy, you really are interesting, don't you know tower shields are the hardest shield in the world?"

Steel looked down embarrassed, "I like shields, and this was the only one they had left." He said sulking.

M.M. clapped his back with mirth, "Well, there was a reason for that, but I'm not faulting you boy, this just makes you more unique." She got up and smiled down at him, "Wait a moment boy, I'll be right back."

M.M. left the room, and a minute later the door swung open. She came back in carrying an older looking tower shield. "Here boy, this is much better than that wooden practice shield you have on you back. Consider it my thanks for an interesting experience. Also, take this old necklace of mine, I don't need it any more."

Quest completeNew jobYou have finished the quest, albeit with an unknown conclusion. Bonus added for being the first player to complete this quest. You have recieved: a tower shield, a necklace, a pass, and +200 experience points.

Hidden QuestThe God's BlessingAn unknown god or goddess blessed you, and you have no idea what it does. Figure who blessed you and what the blessing does. Failing this quest by forgetting to pray or committing crimes will result in loss of favor from the gods and a curse.

Steel held mixed feelings from the results. The rewards were great, he was excited to see what they would do, but the blessing kept popping up and interfering with his game. "Even in this world the gods like to play with my feelings." He muttered to himself, accepting the items from M.M.

She raised an eyebrow at at his words but said nothing.

"I'll leave you to look at my gift. Don't do anything stupid with them you here, otherwise I'll have to show why no one causes problems in my guild." A feeling of fear washed over Steel from the lady, he didn't need his instinct skill to tell him that crossing this woman would end his life. She left with a smile and a twirl of her skirt.

Shaking, Steel calmed himself down before inspecting the items in front of him. Thankfully, he could see their stats, otherwise he would have had to pay someone to identify them for him.

Leader's Tower Shield

+10 LeadershipA tower shield made with rare metal. This shield has seen much combat, being used as a wall to protect one's men. Using this shield requires the use of both hands, so adjustments were made to allow the wielder to attack with it.

Seeing the stats of his shield, Steel couldn't hold in a whoop of joy. The stat bonuses were huge from the shield, it would make him a force to be reckoned with for quite a while. Items in this world were ranked by rarity:

white

ultra common

A rare shield was a great thing to have!

"Eh, wait a moment..." Steel paused and read through the description again. He groaned, "I knew this was too good to be true." He didn't have the strength or agility needed to use the shield, worse it was a two handed shield meaning he couldn't use any weapons.

Sighing in disappointment, he looked at the necklace:

Leader's NecklaceType:NecklaceDurability:---Quality:Yellow/RareRequired Stats:---Effects:+5 Strength

+5 Agility

-5 LuckA necklace made from rare metal. Wearing imbues the wearer with strength and speed, at a cost of the wearer's own luck. A monster hangs from the necklace, carved in the same material.

Steel didn't know whether to punch the air or hit the ground. Wearing the necklace would allow him to use the shield, but he still couldn't attack and his luck would decrease. Compared to the other stats, luck was almost impossible to raise! However, his battle prowess would get a huge boost, which he would need outside the walls.

Accepting his fate, he equipped both items and pulled up his status screen:

(ARRRRGGGGG, stupid table coding! I can't make it work good without everything shooting off to the left :(This makes me sad )

It wasn't so bad, but holding the shield was kind of awkward. The shield had two ways of being used: the first required him to grab the two handles on the inside and brace the shield in the ground in front of himself, the other way was to strap his entire left hand into the shield, resulting in his entire left side being covered. His right arm was theoretically free in this scenario, but it was needed to help brace the shield when his arm was moving. He had no idea about how he could attack with the shield, but the description had said some modifications had been made to it.

"Speaking of, I wonder why M.M. had a shield like this lying around?" He wondered out loud. He didn't dwell on it too much, didn't seem overly important.

Steel left the Adventurer's Guild after thanking Mema for her help, she giggled and swatted him on the butt as left her. He made his back toward the gate.

Even though a day had passed, he could see a visible difference in the amount of finished stone wall from the gate. It looked like a few players had chosen a masonry like profession, as they were running around helping put the wall together. He waved at them, but they were far too busy to notice him.

As came to the gate, a guard stopped him.

"Traveler, go back, you have not experienced life enough yet to risk it beyond these walls."

Steel held out the pass M.M. had given him to the guard. He inspected it, smiled, and said, "My mistake, if Madam gave you this, then you are ready to go. I wish you luck traveler, don't die too quickly."

He stepped back, and Steel walked by him and exited the town.

--------------------

Steel's first impression of outside the wall was one of amazement. A beautiful grassland separated the wall from a large forest. He could see small animals moving through the grass and butterflies flying through the air. A river flowed nearby that came up to wall for awhile, forming a miniature moat.

Steel was excited, he wanted to fight something. He spied a bunny nibbling on a peace of grass. He took the shield off his back and ran at the bunny.

The bunny watched him for a little while, than when he got close it took off, stopped and resumed staring at him while eating grass. Annoyed, Steel tried again, but the bunny did the same thing. This time though, the bunny turned and pooped in his direction before turning back around and eating grass again.

Peeved, Steel chases the bunny around the field for the next 30 minutes, each time the bunny being so close to his grasp, yet so far. He ran so much his stamina level hit zero and he had to lie down to rest. Looking around, he noticed a group of bunnies watching him and the other bunny, all nibbling what looked like a carrot.

"Oh great, I'm providing the entertainment for dinner." He said weakly. He put his head back down and watched the clouds above his head.

"The realism is amazing here." He muttered, amazed at the level of detail the world had, "Even the clouds move like in the real world."

As he laid in the grass with his eyes closed, he felt pressure start to build on his body. He opened his eyes to find himself covered in sleeping rabbits.

"How cute." He thought, "I feel bad for trying to fight them."

He moved his right hand up to pet a bunny on his chest. It sneezed in it's sleep and rubbed it's head against his hand. Steel smiled as he pet it, then froze.

The rabbit yawned, revealing a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and two large fangs that blended in to it's fur.

"Uhhh, what kind of rabbit has teeth like that!" He screamed in his head. He quickly scanned the rabbits lying on his body in a panic.

SpeciesRabbitDanger Level:AverageDescription:This is a rabbit. It is cute, adorable, and tasty over a fire. The only threat they pose is to new adventurers in the field. They attack with headbutts, biting, and have a special kick attack.

That covered all the rabbits except the one directly on his chest.

SpeciesHungry RabbitDanger Level:HugeDescription:This was a rabbit when it was born, but a evolution requirement was achieved. It is cute, adorable, and loves ripping the flesh off it's victims. It poses a huge threat to average adventurers and can be a threat to veterans. The scary part is that until they show off their teeth, it is impossible to distinguish them from normal rabbits. There always a few of these to protect the rabbit population.

"Does that apply to identification too?" He thought in horror. Sure enough, a rabbit cuddling his side yawned it's dangerous maw at him as well. Very realistic sweat began to roll down his head.

Skill activated: InstinctMove and you die.

"Not helping!!!" He mentally screamed at the system. Then, Steel sneezed.

The rabbits slowly opened their eyes and stared at him. Steel stared back, sweat beginning to come off him in droves.

"Heh heh, nice bunnies?"

The Hungry Bunny looked at him and smiled, which terrified the crap out of Steel. It hopped over to his neck, sniffed him and

(SLURP)

The thing licked his mouth! Instantly, Steel shot up and rolled jumped onto a grass hill, freaking out as he ran toward the gate.

"AAAAAHHHHHHHhhhhhhh! Demon bunnies!" He cried, trying to escape with his life.

Unfortunately, his stamina was still down, and he collapsed halfway to the gate. He could only watch as the herd of bunnies hopped toward him. Closer, and closer, with the Hungry Bunny at the head of the herd.

They reached him, and he put his hand over his face.

"Please be gentle." He begged as they looked at him. He closed his eyes and waited. And waited. And waited, but nothing happened.

He opened them back up, and found the bunnies and scattered, leaving the Hungry Bunny staring at him. It watched him for a little while longer, then hopped at his face and sat on his chest, falling back asleep.

Steel heard shouting, and turned his head to see a group of 3 guards running to him. They reached him and looked down.

"Sorry young traveler, we thought you had been warned that the bunnies were the most dangerous creatures in the grassland. To even survive one encounter, you must have the luck of the gods. We thought you had been eaten when we saw the rabbits covering your body."

The talking guard noticed the rabbit on Steel's chest, and panic blossomed on his face. He jumped back with his fellows and they all pointed their swords at the rabbit.

“Traveler, don’t move, that’s a Hungry Bunny on your chest! We have to kill it before it rips us all to shreds!” The guard said fearfully

“How’d you know?” Steel asked in surprise.

“Because a regular bunny would have fled at the sight of us, only this one did not.” The guard responded, shaking his spear at the rabbit.

The Hungry Bunny looked up at the guards and hissed at them, angry to have been disturbed. It barred it’s teeth at them and they scrambled backwards, their panic obvious. The guards huddles for a moment, nodded, and turned back to Steel.

“We are sorry young traveler, but we do not wish to risk our lives saving yours. You’ll just come back at the temple, we could die. We wish you luck sir.” The guards left in a hurry, returning to the safety of the gate.

Steel lay still for a moment, annoyed that the guards had abandoned him and scared he was about to ripped to shreds.

“Still though,” He looked down at the Hungry Bunny, “All that it has done is sleep on me, plenty of chances to eat me while my defenses were down.” He pet the bunnies’ head, and it rubbed itself against his hand.

“I’ll call you Hunie.” He declared, “Because you’re the sweetest rabbit I’ve ever met.

The rabbit froze, and looked Steel straight in the eye. It stared for the longest time, before licking his cheek and hopping off into the grassland, back to join the other rabbits.

“Well that was strange.” He said as he got up and watched Hunie disappear into the grass. Shrugging his shoulders, Steel headed back to the gate before logging out for the night.
