Dialogue referenced was taken from the end of Chapter 3: The lord of Helwin.

Transcript of the side story:

Some mages say they can “smell” things.

“This person is like moss on a riverbank.”

“This person is fire and ash."

It sounds fantastical, but I think I understand it a little.

There’s no scent, but my instinct speaks.

“This one is safe.”

"That one's not bad, but I should be careful.”

“Get away at all costs."

It's kept me alive this long. I've got no choice but to trust it.

Which is why the first time I met my brother, I ran.

It didn't make any sense.

My instinct said "safety"—

—but also "danger."

What the hell?

Should I trust him? Should I leave? Is this a warning, or is it an opportunity? Damn it, I think he's still following me...

Safety, but also danger, it could've meant so many things. But suddenly I was reminded of the

story the old man at the end of the street always told us: back in his days as a soldier, in order

to be safe from archers—

—you had to charge towards them.

Would you risk it? A chance to change your life? Would you gamble just for that opportunity? Would you bet everything on a person you didn't really know? Would you—

"I have some questions for you, so how about we trade?"

Would you risk it?

I would.

"Is that a yes or a no?"

"It's a yes."

"Let's trade."
