《Kenosis of the Light Bearer》Chapter 29 - The war waged in Heaven

“My names Lucifer, this is my sister Aruna and over here is Ambrosia. But you can just call me Lucif. What’s your name?”
The pretty elven girl spoke out in a panting voice, she was obviously still tired from the running but she felt an excitement in her blood that she had never felt before. “Sorry for the late introduction, my name is Luar Fantaji it means moonlight fantasy. Please don’t ask me why my parents named me that, it’s an embarrassing story.” Her face blushed red and she lowered her head to the ground, trying to avoid eye contact.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why they named her that. A lot of parents would name their children after things that lead to their creation or things that happened along the way. Some even waited until they were born and named them after the first thing that popped into their hand.
“Next.”
A voice spread from behind them. As they turned around they saw that the front desk was finally free. It was time to get their tickets and take their first step into a brand new world.
“You go first.” They shoved Luar to the front. They didn’t know the process and protocol so it was best to let her show them what to do.
“Here is my I.D card, one ticket to Enochian Academia please.”
The ticket lady took her card, scanned it and then handed it back.
Beep, beep, beep.
A ticket was quickly printed out, she grabbed the ticket and punched a hole in it using a hole punch.
“Next.”
Lucif walked up to the ticket lady, he noticed on her t-shirt it had a name tag that said ‘Maria.’
“Ah, yes. Hello Maria, I’m new here so I’m not quite sure what to do. We would like three tickets to Enochian Academia please.”

“Oh, are you new students? Have you enrolled yet?”
They shook their heads, “No, not yet.”
The lady smiled and pulled out three new forms. “Alright then, I need you to quickly fill these out.”
The trio grabbed the forms and quickly filled them out at the front desk, it just asked for basic information like name, age, species and medical conditions. After the forms were handed back, the lady tapped all the information onto her computer.
These computers were incredibly advanced. She didn’t type in the information but pushed the paper onto a large computer screen. She tapped on the paper twice and the computer started to quickly scan the papers and record their information. It was over in less time than it takes to breathe.
An error popped up on her screen in red writing, she looked over to the group and said, “You forgot to enter your last name Ambrosia.”
Ambrosia came to the front to speak, “Ah, I’m sorry miss. I don’t have a last name.”
“How can you not have a last name?”
“Because my grandfather never gave me one.”
“Well, that’s strange. Why didn’t he give you a last name?”
“He said he never had the right to.”
“Didn’t have the right to? Then who does have the right?” Her eyebrows creased as she looked over at the girl. She didn’t seem to be lying but she couldn’t process the application like this.
“You need to help me understand the situation a bit better, can you explain this matter in more detail.”
“Well, it’s a bit of a story miss. Are you sure you have the time to hear it?”
The lady nodded her head. “Well, I can’t process this application unless you give me a good enough reason because the system only handles citizens with first and last names. I can process it but I have to overwrite the system which will take a bit of work. Tell me your story and I’ll decide to process it or not.”

Ambrosia sighed and began to narrate her story. Time seemed to stop and began to flow in reverse, her thoughts recalled the story her grandfather once told her and she began to speak.
--
An old man with greying hair punched the ground as he roared at the sky.
“Give her back to me. You give her back to me you bastard!” Tears streamed down his face and his hands shook in frustration and grief. His eyes red as he gazed at the dead baby he held in his arms.
“Why are the heavens so unjust? First you take my son and his wife, now you come back and take their only child? My only granddaughter, the last of my kin! You want this old man to suffer? You want me, old Jericho here to bear witness to the annihilation of his entire family?!”
His tongue lashed fiercely at the heavens, wanting to tear them apart whilst his tears fell like rain drops and slid down his cheeks. He clutched the baby in his arms, rocking her back and forth like he was rocking her into a soft calm. His hand brushed her forehead as his fingers trembled with sadness and anger.
“Don’t worry my child. You rest easy, your grandfather will join you all soon.”
He dug a hole and buried her in the ground, it wasn’t very deep but it was the best he could do with his failing body. Then he started to dig another hole, a hole for him to lie in and die.
As he dug out his grave a crashing thunder echoed through the clouds and blew him back onto his back. When he looked up from his freshly dug grave he saw various lightning bolts flashing across the sky.
Crackle, rumble, pzzt, boom, rumble, rumble, crackle, boom.
After a flash of lightning spread through the clouds he was shocked to see two giant silhouettes fighting in the sky. He rubbed his eyes once, twice, three times just to be sure. But they were there, right in front of his eyes. ‘Maybe he was turning senile. This old body is at its end.’ He thought to himself.
He continued to watch the sky, the two silhouettes in the clouds were big enough to cover a large portion of the sky.
“It looks like the G…Gods. The Gods are fighting.” Jericho muttered to himself. His face hysteric, the shock was visible on his face. He didn’t know if it was real or not. But if this was a dream, it was one he couldn’t wake up from and the explosions of power felt incredibly realistic. He could even feel the harsh wind brushing against his skin. The feeling of worship before such powers was undeniable, it’s like his blood was screaming out that these were higher beings.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. 8 161Dust and Glory
A century after World War III left the planet a nuclear wasteland, earth is nearly unrecognizable. Alien ‘Benefactors’ have taken control of North America’s most populous cities and built indomitable walls around them, defending their inhabitants but trapping them under a totalitarian rule. Outside these citadels, chaos reigns, led by the mutants of the wasteland; cultists, raiders, and canibal clans. Glory, a rogue android, is roaming the wastes after escaping her sadistic “father”. Alone and reeling from the effects of a previously sheltered life, her only ray of hope is Reza City, built upon the ruins of what used to be Phoenix, Arizona. True, the Benefactors have a strict ban on self-aware artificial intelligence in place, but that should only prove an issue if they realize she’s an AI. The real problem is what lurks outside the city: over a million square miles of harsh, unyielding desert. And slinking between the dunes and the fissures are the mutants, looking for an easy victim.
