Wanting to successfully hunt with the smallest amount of damage as possible. For the weapons, this was their stats.

Crude Wood club

Low quality

A very crude wooden club made by an inexperienced carpenter extremely mediocre material.

+4 dmg

Crude Sling

Low quality

A very crude sling made by an inexperienced carpenter extremely mediocre material. It can shoot rocks with much greater speed and range then what can be thrown

+4 dmg

The sling was for the rock thrower, they could only do 1 dmg in normal cases but this was much better.

“Now I wonder what the calculation for damage and defense is.

Tutorial Guide

For the curious, damage and defense is calculated in the following form:

(Str + Weapon damage) - (Con + Armor Def + Shield Def)

In the case you are running or with a mount the calculation is the following.

(Str + player Agi + mount agi + weapon dmg) - (Con + Armor Def + Shield Def)

Akor scowled when he saw this and began to rub his head. He stopped school at the age of 10 and so his hardest subjects were things normal people could usually do. He looked at his own stats and separated the equations into simple addition and subtraction groups.

“So… 3 strength + 4 dmg is 7… I’m not sure what the constitution of the goats are but i think it is 4 at least… maybe less since they are fast.” he thought and counted that he could take at most.

He scratched his head wondering if that was true but he could do nothing about it if it was or not.

He simply huffed up the club he made for himself and walked with the imps to the goat’s area.

As expected, they were in the same area which is expected of a game for them to have ‘zones’ they live in. Of course, there are companies which keep the realism and don’t bind monsters but since it was a tutorial stage they keep it to make it easier on the player.

Seeing a lone goat a distance away, Akor looked at the sling holding Imp. “Shoot that one.” he pointed.

The imp was given a small basket to carry stones ammo, specifically called pellets, ammo used for slings. One unit of stone makes 3 pellets while the sling itself is made with 1 unit of wood, reverted into vegetation.

WO! WOO! WO! WOO! WOOSH!

Gripping the sling’s ends after putting in the pellet he swung it until it was very like a fan but this was where the trouble with slings came. Without practice, accuracy was bad.

The pellet flew high up and plopped down a few meters away from the target.

The imp swung the spin and shot again but it was an overshot, then it was too weak.

Only on the fifth shot he got a decent spin and the pellet came out with a 30 degree angle and surprising speed which seemed measured.

It slammed right into the side of the goat.

[Hairy Mountain Goat Level 2 26/30]

Looking at the damage, Akor marked it to try and do the count.

“Attack it. You two, stay here, if the goat passes them run and grab the horns.” He said.

He had explained the way to attack, two pairs of imps ran to both sides to flank it while holding the clubs at the ready.

This made the goat look and find Akor commanding the group. Also since the one that hurt it was the sling holder who was next to Akor, it rushed to where there was most ‘hate’.

Different from the dumb imps from before, these were much smarter and when the goat was just about to pass with its horns near them, the four swung the club together.

THUMP! THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!

For strong clubbings hit the goat and its hp dropped like a rock.

[Hairy Mountain Goat, level 2 10/30]

A resounding 16 hp in one assault, it instantly caused the goat to stop and bellow in pain and anger before it swung its head and hit one of the imps on its left.

At that moment a pellet came flying and struck its horn.

[Hairy Mountain Goat, level 2 8/30]

Most likely because it was hard bone, the damage was half as before but the imps on the right of the goat were unaffected and swung their hammer together and hit together.

The goat was smashed into the ground with the last hit.

Battle report

Your nameless minion has killed a Hairy Mountain Goat and gained 12 exp.

You have gained 3 exp.

“Huh? Just one minion?” Akor asked.

Tutorial Guide

As explained, demons will never share experience points when hunting. The gods judged which was the first and second to hit and the second one was the official one to kill the enemy.

“Wow… this is a really cruel system towards demons.” he muttered but just sighed.

He didn’t mind it and went to pick up the loot while the sling shooter went to pick up his ammo.

The loot ended up with a few goat bones, a goat horn and, much to Akor’s joy, a hairy goat pelt.

After a short while the goat vanished leaving nothing behind so the group began properly training through hunting to gather up hunting materials.

With a viable method performed, the group of demons began to hunt the herd of goats.

The next goat didn’t drop pelt or horn but it dropped two pieces of meat, the hind leg and the ribs, and a bone. When stored, the two pieces of meat surprisingly enough to convert into 2 units of food.

“No wonder demons are a hunter based raced.” he said.

If food was this easy to get through hunting, of course they would prefer hunting over farming. Of course, this was just in early stages, anyone can tell you that the fields would be the true feeding grounds that will sustain a nation once those fields are properly upgraded into true domestic crops which could produce tens of units per field.

He kept hunting and killed five goats before returning. With hunt came 7 units of food obtained, three pelts, six bones and four horns.

The food was deposited in the village storage while the pelt, bones and horns stayed with Akor.

The first and foremost requirement he needed to do was improve food production, as he always planned, he wanted to make fertilizer and Bone meal was required for that.

He turned all the bones into bone meal and he had just enough for 1 per field.

He took them to the fields.

You have one kind of fertilizer in your inventory.

Bone Meal x6

+ 0.5 to food production for 2 days

Do you wish to use this fertilizer on the fields (one per field)

Yes

No

“Yes.” He said.

From his inventory, five of the bone meals turned into lights and shined down on the fields making the rough soil look just a little bit healthier brown but it would last only 2 days but it was plenty of time to hunt more.

Once that was done, Akor opened the town resource window to see the towns resource.

Looking at the food production count, he was very happy to see such a high number, as for the imps, they gained a bit of exp, the same for himself who was already at 26.5 exp from hunting all the goats while leading the imps.

Soon he would even be able to send out imps to hunt on their own but he was afraid they would die if he didn’t at least level them once. Letting mindless imps run around wasn’t exactly something he wished to do.

Still he went to rest, but before that he used the 3 pelts and converted them into a small pelt bed using 5 wood and 3 pelts so that he could sleep off the ground.

Dropping into the pelt bed, he logged off and went to sleep properly for the next day when he had to wake up early.

***

Second Life INC was a company stationed in Richmond Virginia, the current city of Richmond was a mega city with the central zone being just as big as major capitals like New Jersey and California.

To reach the HQ of Second life INC, they sent out hover cars early the previous day. Lucas lived in what was once North Dakota, but the two Dakota finally merged into the state of Dakota. The current USA was no longer USA.

The United states broke down during the 4th world war in the late 21st century but thanks to the fact the FBI and many secret service groups ‘cleaned up’ the warring country governments who were at war just before they authorized nuclear bombing the war didn’t end.

Among these were pretty much all American countries, europe and asian countries. It ended up in a coup with the secret services taking command for a short while. After that they decided that there should be something to control the nuclear power of humanity.

Nuclear control laws were released world wide and then so called ‘super’ countries were born.

Under the control of the secret services command the government, the american countries came to an agreement that they would completely merge into one America.

Government restructuring had to be done to countless countries and the choice of government was similar to the previous USA.

Small countries became single stats while large countries like brazil were broken up into separate states.

The language barrier was the first thing tackled. To not be unfair to the countries, they made three languages official, English, Spanish and Portuguese. French was not included because it would be an overload but it was included as an extra language along with other languages common to the natives from specific regions.

The education was changed to the USA system as well because of its practicality and good results.

Similarly, europe became one union and asia as well.

After a while the african countries formed the African Union and soon the six continents with human population each had one country each.

In this way, Lucas, took a short while but it was different for the many others. When he woke up he found that the number of Demon lords had capped at 100 and there was a notice which spoke that the Lord class wasn’t supposed to have such a high appearance rate so they limited to the first 100 of each race.

There were even people in south america and the hover car had to travel early and at high speeds to pick them up.

When he saw the car stopping in front of his house, he felt solemn about seeing a hover car, the car of the rich, stop for him.

A woman walked out, “Greetings Mr. Rollin, please this way.” She said.

He simply stepped into the car and she followed. The seats were like those of a luxury car, the back seats faced each other.

He had used a lot of water to bath so that he wouldn’t smell but his image was still that of a poor young man but the young woman didn’t do anything or look at him.

He equally didn’t reply or say anything as he opened a hollow screen to access the net to research. He would always research things that could be done to improve kingdom development. One thing he researched is hand crafting items in [Magic Life] because he didn’t find quite a few things so he thought that there might be things he could hand make to make traps.

He kept doing the same thing and getting simple ideas but for many things he scratched his head. For one, he wanted to figure out if he make a reservoir to divert the water coming down in the stream near the village to make better use of it for things like irrigation but his incomplete education was a constant problem for him.

If someone asked why he never did virtual education, he can’t. He needs to pay the curriculum and the connection to the server of the school to receive the work, then he needs to have money to sustain himself and school would take from his time in game and he already wasn’t a good player. For him to balance his poor ability to make money, school work and having money to eat, that was impossible.

As stated before, robots do most of the manual labor so humans can only work through Virtual reality but because his education was cut and he can’t pay it becomes a vicious cycle where he can’t improve.

There was no sound in the car besides the wind outside and any video he would bring up. A lot of the videos were actually old videos of people who got their own village in games and how they started up. This was especially so for the period of time where there was no trade and money flowing.

It really wasn’t a good answer, the flow of money would happen as soon as they captured or formed new villages. Of course, that was the large flow, the basic flow happened when monsters dropped coins.

The few drops he had did not include money which made him ask the only question to the woman, “Do the monsters or animals in the game drop coins?”

The woman was surprised by the sudden question but nodded, “Yes, they do. We limited this for the Lords class to a degree but after you get mines, you can both gain them from drops and make gold, silver and copper bars which can be further refined, though you need to research coin minting after researching blacksmithing. Otherwise you will remain in barter trade until you connect with outside races which have money or you gain enough from monsters to produce a flow of money.” She explained.

“Thank you.” he said simply.

The silence fell again making the woman uncomfortable after it was slightly broken. She decided to search the net and do some of the work she had to do before arriving.

The hours quickly passed and soon it was 9:30 am when they arrived at the HQ.

From the air, Lucas saw the building far away and sighed, “So much wealth, can make anyone die with envy.” he said coldly.

The woman saw it in a different way of course.

“Second Life INC has been around for close to a century, we have on AI managing [Magic Life] and several dozen minor AI aiding her. This could only happen because of the efforts during our founding when we made [Heaven World Online].” She said with pride.

“Hmm… Must be good to not have to worry about money.” he said casually and sat back down, waiting to arrive at the garage.

The garage in question was on the 10th floor, halfway up the building, and there was a hydraulic clamp to grip the hover car to bring it in safely. Just like an airplane, there were many security calls going over the radio in the driver seat but there was a window between him and them.

When the car finally settled down and turned off, the woman reached for the door and opened, “This way please Mr. Rollin.” she said.

He said nothing as he got up and walked out.

Other Hovercrafts were coming and going around the building but not many were like himself who was so distinct among these executives that he stuck out like a sore thumb.

Be it his skinny appearance, dirty shirt, baggy pants or shoes which were falling apart, his image could only be described as a beggar. If not for him coming through the companies own personal Hovercraft, they would have long kicked him out.

At the elevator, she simply spoke out, “Meeting hall.” She said.

“Oh my, if it isn’t the young Demon Lord Akor. Meeting hall right away~!” a cheerful voice exclaimed happily like a fangirl.

Lucas looked at the woman who was blushing embarrassed, “S-sorry… the AIs are… eccentric.” he said.

“Well, at least it’s better than a dull machine.” He replied.

She nodded with a weak smile as the elevator rose up quickly. Current elevators used the same technologies as what was once used in bullet trains. The speed of acceleration and deceleration is very high making it great for huge buildings.

In a few seconds they had reached one of the top floors and the elevator opened up and the woman walked out with Lucas behind.

“Before the true meeting, we know that many people would be inconvenienced by the time frame so as a courtesy…” the woman said and opened up a large door into a side hall. An amazing aroma flooded out along with sound of some people already inside.

Lucas suddenly began to drool before whipping it off before he was seen. He breathed in deeply and felt emotional because it had been a few years since he ate something different that wasn’t instant noodles.

“... please dine as you wish, everything was handmade by our best chefs and are incredibly healthy.” She said.

He gulped and nodded, “Thank you.” he said.

The woman looked at him entering and felt sympathetic towards the poor young man. Just looking at how skinny he was one could tell he was quite malnourished even if he ate noodles which contained all the necessary vitamins and nutrients for the human body.

He went to a table and quickly filled a plate, he then looked around and found a distant table and sat down to start eating.

After the first bite, he was nearly in tears as the flavor erupted in his mouth.

In the other tables and those standing up, they watched him since he arrived.

“I didn’t know Second Life INC let beggars in?” Someone suddenly cursed loudly.

Lucas didn’t even care to hear that, he was focused on eating what could be his last luxury meal for who knows how long.

When the person who said that saw he didn’t even hear him, he actually felt offended and decided to go confront him but a hand gripped his shoulder.

When he looked back he saw a stone faced guard. The man paled as he saw this man, in fact it wasn’t a man but a machine. Technology had greatly advanced making it possible to make ‘skin’ for robot's to hide the machinery on the inside.

“Sir, please avoid racial or financial persecution of the other players.” He said.

Along the walls were many similar looking guards in tux wearing glasses.

The man clicked his tongue and walked away, Lucas looked over and saw the man’s face and looked at the surrounding people who looked his way.

He snorted “The message went to all lords, of course there will be rich and poor mixed in.” he silently thought.

Surprisingly he ate non stop without thought. What was even stranger was how his stomach didn’t bulge and it seemed like a bottomless pit.

“Hey… isn’t he one of them?” someone commented.

“Yeah, I’ve met a few, they are just like that.” someone else said.

As they watched, they actually saw him bring another full plate, or better yet, a tray, of food to his table.

Among the current humanity there was a special ‘breed’. The term ‘super solder’ is one quite common after genetic manipulation reached humans. There were quite a number of failures and a number of successes.

The evolution of mankind had happened at that moment as they began to increase the number of these ‘Super humans’. Of course, as their number increased, so did the fact that they weren’t mindless and were true humans. They grew up, had a family and so on. That said, of the several hundred billion humans in existence now, there shouldn’t be even several million Super humans.

One of their most distinct features is that their bodies break down food at an accelerated pace but they can last as long as common people without eating and even eating a small amount like normal people will keep them alive.

When they saw his current state, they knew he was definitely a superhuman but an extremely poor person who could not sustain the consumption.

As for the second major feature they had, they grew stronger and healthier the more they ate. These bodily features were implemented to allow the body to grow into the super human state. They had found that forcing someone to grow up with that kind of power would lead to complications but by adding a genetic feature where they consume immense amounts of food for energy, their body would naturally adapt to the power accumulating inside them.

As they watched him eat, more and more people arrived. Lucas obviously knew of his own ‘eating addiction’ but he has obviously controlled it for all these years. He eats enough to live at most.

Now that he had an all you can eat buffet, he was taking his chance. As he ate, his appearance actually changed a bit each second.

Of course, it was only by so much but his pale skin gained a healthier tone by the time he was ‘full’ and could no longer eat for the time being.

He asked for some tea and just sat there drinking and opened the page of the net to continue browsing.

Many people were watching him like he was a freak of nature while others were curious.

Eventually everyone arrived and had enough time to eat and so attendants came, “Everyone, please come this way, we are about to start our meeting.” one of the attendants exclaimed.

Everyone looked over and stood up before slowly walking over.

They entered a large board room which was like those jury rooms which circled the center. There were thousands of seats but each section had 100 seats split by a name of a race. “Please find your characters name and sit at the seat. We will refer to you by character name to provide identity security. Each section is for one type of race except the demons who are a broad range of races.” The woman said.

Everyone slowly filed in and Lucas walked around the tables until he found ‘Akor’ written on a name tag so he sat down. Next to him was a young teen probably one or two years younger than himself. She was looking around and saw him, “Hi, I’m Sam Jolie. My character name is Ulra.” She said.

“I’m Akor.” He said.

“Hey! I introduced my real name. Tell me yours!” She said.

“It was your choice.” He replied simply.

Her slim brows connect as she frowns and snorts, “If you keep acting like that, you will never get a girlfriend.” She said coldly and turned away.

He didn’t put it to heart, even if he wanted a girlfriend he would first have to be alive to go out with her and his current financial status would not permit such a luxury.

After a short while, all groups were filled up and the CEO himself came in.

“Welcome and thank you all for coming at my call, I am Wilson Rich, CEO of Second Life INC.” he said with a smile as he walked to the center and sat down with his Vice just behind him.

Everyone was surprised and looked at each other curious about what was about to take place.
