《The Life of a Dungeon》Chapter 8

By the time that Teaghan focused her attention back onto the maze, it had already been about two days. When she did finally look at the maze, the population of the petonx lizards had an increased growth to 200 lizards.

The lizards were not the only ones in the maze to increase their populations. The shadow bat flower grew in a way different from the white bat flowers. The shadow bat flowers grew their tentacles not only down but threaded them through the tree branches. Ensuring that if something touched the branches without protection, it was almost guaranteed that they would come into contact with this flower’s poisons.

In terms of the two different types of large praying mantis variants, the poisonous praying mantis stayed near the ceiling and tree branches. While the stronger and bigger praying mantis variant stayed near the trunks, staying near the sides of the hallway.

Teaghan realized that she only added the “Stone Rabbits”, the rabbits changed by the earth element mana. She decided to add regular cotton-tail rabbits, red foxes, and a few sharp-shinned hawks to the cavern room.

Teaghan also decided to add the fox variation that the blue-eyed fox evolved into, the chicane fox. Since these foxes use illusion magic and a small bit of fire magic, Teaghan only added a couple to the cavern and the maze, allowing them to wander between these two areas.

Teaghan also added the foxfire fungus, but she decided to try something new. She took the radiance quartz, but instead of having individual crystals, Teaghan decided to try to make a vein of it in the walls. She grew the vein of radiance quartz at the surface of the walls and the ceiling. Making the radiance quartz look like a lightning bolt encased in the rock.

Finally finished building the second level, Teaghan decided that it was time to connect her second floor to the first floor. She looked back up to the first floor and started creating a staircase to the second floor. She carved a circular staircase with a vein of radiance quartz, and Teaghan made it so that this particular vein could not be cut out of the staircase area.

Once Teaghan was finished with that, she started watching over her whole dungeon for a couple of hours. Not doing anything, but just watching everything that was happening without her guidance.

Remembering that she had two unexplored areas to discover. Debating over which one she should explore first, she decided to explore the cave system. Like the kobold she first sent out to bring objects back into the dungeon, she decided to send out the blue-eyed fox to explore the cave system.

To do that, Teaghan dug a small hole, far away from her core, that led to the small area of the cave system that she claimed. She turned towards the blue-eyed fox and looked at it, seeing if there was a way to see or map out the caves without claiming the cave system just yet. As she was studying the blue-eyed fox, a blue screen appeared.

Congratulations! You have gained the ability “Sight See”

Teaghan looked at the blue screen and was surprised. She didn’t realize how she got this new ability, but it could not have come at a better time.

After pulling up the description, Teaghan saw that this skill was a dungeon core skill that allowed dungeon cores to see through their monsters’ eyes outside their territory.

Teaghan grinned and realized that this was the perfect skill for her right now.

Quickly guiding the blue-eyed fox to the small tunnel, Teaghan turned on the skill and was able to see through the fox’s eyes.

When the fox reached the end of the tunnel, Teaghan pushed the fox to be cautious and avoid any trouble. Slowly but surely, the fox creeped out of the hole and made its way into the tunnel system.

Teagham, remembering what her brother told her about maze’s, told the fox to follow the path that went left and keep on following it.

As the fox left the first room and came to the second room, it reached an area with a bright, blinding light.

After the fox blinked the light spots out of its eye, it saw something that shocked it. Amber. And glowing pieces of white jewels or crystals, but Teaghan couldn’t tell which. The room was about the size of her old house back on Earth, and it was covered in amber. There were piles and piles of gigantic pieces of amber growing out of the ground. And some were just loose on the floor. While others look to be stuck in the wall and ceiling. But what interested Teaghan was that she remembered that small insects and animals would get trapped by the amber back on Earth. So she ordered the fox to look closely at one of the more significant amber pieces, and it had what looked like insects and small animals preserved in it.

The glowing white jewels or crystals were growing all over the place. And all of them were producing at least some light, while the bigger ones were blinding in their brightness.

Grinning to herself, Teaghan quickly ordered the fox to take a small piece of amber and one of the smaller white jewel or crystals and bring them back to her domain.
