Leeanna Narwitz's heartstrings twanged as she witnessed the object of her affection striding toward her, and she noticed his demeanor resembled something like a conqueror.
"Dee, he's coming!" she said in a panic as she turned around and began fixing her hair and her bra.
"I know he's coming," said Destiny with a smirk, "I texted Donny Simpson and told him we wanted to hang out."
"Wait, the red-headed friend?" Leeanna asked, "Do you mean that guy who's always staring at your ass?"
"The one and only," laughed Destiny, as she faced the two approaching boys with a smile. Leeanna did the same and when she locked eyes with those two piercing sapphires; she felt naked, way earlier than she had expected to be.
"Hi Jonas!" said an upbeat Destiny, and she shot a wink at her friend who was falling apart.
"Hey girls," Jonas said while his gaze shifted from Destiny to Leeanna. Although he was not very interested in drunken sex in a creepy forest, he had to admit that the busty brunette in front of him was as attractive as he remembered. She wore a tight pink top and a pair of light blue jeans that hugged every single one of her curves.
"Leeanna, right?" he asked while gesturing a slender hand towards her. "It's nice to see you again," though maybe he should not have mentioned their previous encounter. Leeanna's cheeks turned red as she returned the gesture and shook his hand, noticing the length and softness of his fingers.
"That's me," she said while batting her eyelashes, "It's nice to see you again. Happy birthday, by the way."
"Thanks," Jonas smiled, and he admired her pretty eyes. It seemed like his childish grudge wasn't strong enough to dissuade him from going through with the plan.
"Okay, enough with the small talk," Donny said while nudging Jonas towards Leeanna, "Let's drink and have a good time. I'm Donny," and he settled himself right between the two girls.
"Yeah, I know who you are," smirked Destiny, "You've been stalking me since kindergarten."
"Of course, you know who I am," Donny rolled his eyes, "I was introducing myself to Leeanna," and the two of them bickered back and forth.
Catching Leeanna's eye, Jonas nodded his head towards two nearby lawn chairs. Leeanna caught his meaning, nodded her head, and gave a cute smile. She followed him, and they took their seats. Jonas was waiting for her to say something, but it seemed like she was too embarrassed so instead, he took it upon himself to get the conversation flowing.
"So, how have you been?" he sipped his beer and tried not to sound too awkward.
"Uh," her voice squeaked like a mouse, "I've been good, thanks. How about you?"
"Great," he nodded, "Everyone at school has been treating me pretty good."
"That's right," Leeanna almost forgot to be nervous, "You transferred here a few months ago, didn't you?"
"Correct," he said, "I enrolled at Saint Peter High before, but my brother got a job on this side of town, and it was way too inconvenient to keep driving there."
"I'm sorry," Leeanna said, "It must suck leaving all your friends behind."
"I didn't have any," Jonas chuckled, "Certain circumstances made sure people at school avoided getting too close to me, though they were always nice to me."

"Your brother?" Leeanna regretted her words almost at once, "Sorry, I didn't mean that."
"Don't be sorry," Jonas couldn't help but marvel at the reputation his big brother had built for himself, "It was more because I kept to myself most of the time."
"How did you and Donny meet?"
"Uh," Jonas smiled, "On my first day of school, he approached me and said, 'Now there's a face that can get me laid!'," and Leeanna giggled as she sent a strange look towards the tall redhead that was talking up her friend.
"And is that how you ended up at my birthday party last month?"
"Yeah," it shocked Jonas that she even brought it up, "He told me it was a tiny get-together, and I ran with it."
"Surprise," Leeanna smiled, "It was so big they destroyed my house."
"I'm surprised you're even allowed out anymore," he added, "Didn't your parents want to kill you?"
"Oh, they did," she nodded, "But that's the benefit of being an only child," she added, "It's just you and your brother, right?"
"Uh," Jonas wasn't sure how to bring up the topic, "Yeah, we're orphans, but he's my legal guardian."
"I'm sorry," and she was cursing in her heart for being so insensitive. "Do you have a phone?" Leeanna changed the subject, but it sounded even ruder after some quick reflection. Jonas did not mind however, he rather enjoyed being asked questions, as opposed to him trying to lead the conversation.
"Don't worry about it," he smiled, "I appreciate you asking about me though, it's nice," and he added, "I do, but promise not to laugh."
"Promise," she agreed, but she should have rethought her reply because she bit the insides of her gums as she watched Jonas pull out a brick from his pocket.
"You said you wouldn't laugh!"
"I'm not!" but the cracks of her mouth betrayed her, and she burst into giggles, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she tried to say, "I just haven't seen one of those since, well, I remember my mom had one in college."
"It's an LG Keybo," he said while glaring at her, "And it works like a charm," and he used his thumbs to flip the phone open as he began clicking away at the buttons. "Here," he tossed the phone to her, "You can add your number if you don't mind my poverty."
"I'm sorry!" guilt flooded her at once, but seeing as Jonas was smirking, she knew he was not mad. Clicking away, she added her name and number as a contact on his phone. "It's pretty cool," she said while giving it back to him, "I like the way the keys click."
"Best you can afford when you're unemployed," Jonas sighed, "My bro won't let me get a job, he says I need to focus on school."
"Are your grades good?"
"They're alright," Jonas wouldn't go into the details, "You're an honor roll student, aren't you?"
"Perhaps," she said, "My grades are alright too."
"What do you like to do?" he asked, "I mean hobbies, or whatever."
"Hmm," she licked her pink lips, "I like volleyball, music, partying, and talking with you," and as she said it, her face went red once more.

"Interesting," he said, "I'm fond of football, music, partying, and talking with you too."
"Very interesting," she added, "So similar, yet so different."
"Volleyball is cool," Jonas conceded, "But it just doesn't compare to the fine art that is the gridiron."
"If you like football so much, why don't you join the team?" but seeing his face turn rather awkward, she regretted asking at once. "You don't have to answer that."
"Why wouldn't I?" he tried to laugh, "It's just kind of hard considering I'm out of shape."
"You're out of shape?" she asked as she used the excuse to examine him, and she found that everything about him screamed he was in perfect shape.
"All the smoking, and drinking," he grinned while holding up his beer, "Though I once ran a four-two-nine in gym class."
"Shut up," she said open-mouthed, "That's like a professional athlete level."
"That was way before I transferred," he added, "I'm slower now."
"Still," Leeanna said, "You're far from being out of shape."
"You think?"
"You're hot," she said, and Jonas looked shocked at her boldness, and he felt his cheeks go almost as red as hers.
"Interesting," he said, "I also think I'm pretty hot," and he added, "You're good too though."
"You butt," she smirked, "Someone is a little prideful."
"Believe it or not," Jonas raised his eyebrows, "I once caused a fistfight between two older girls who were fighting over me, and the craziest part was that I had never met either of them before."
"Ah," she sighed, "The pains of being beautiful."
"Tell me about it," he sipped his beer once more, an excuse to think of something much more interesting to say. "What are you drinking tonight?"
"Not drinking," she said, "I learned from last-" but she cut her sentence short as she buried her face in her hand.
"No idea what you mean," Jonas tried to play stupid, and he would not bring up their last encounter on his own.
"Okay, listen," she said, since the cat was already out of the bag, "I'm so sorry for what I did," she added, "Like very sorry."
"Oh that," Jonas made a funny face, "I didn't even remember until you brought it up just now."
"Liar," she said with a grin, "No one forgets being puked on by a strange girl," she added, "I was so drunk I can't remember what happened that night."
"Well," Jonas said, "I got to your big ass house, helped myself to some pretzels, and then you sort of just approached me, grabbed me by the hand, and said, 'Come with me,'."
"Oh, god," Leeanna felt like crying, "And you just ran with it?"
"I don't know," he laughed, "A cute girl grabs you by the hand and says come with her, you just go with her, right?"
"I sound like a rapist."
"Nah," he said, "I figured you just wanted to talk about the finer points of Greek philosophy and the Socratic method."
"How did that conversation go?"
"You pushed me into an empty room, pulled down my pants, and then puked on me."
"Oh God," she looked up into the starry night, "If thou are in Heaven, please smite me."
"It's not that bad," said Jonas, "I never liked those pants."
"You're too nice," she shook her head, "Like I can't even believe you're talking to me right now."
"If a girl shows up to see you on your birthday," Jonas said, "You talk to her."
"Maybe this time our conversation can be a bit more productive," but as soon as it left her mouth, Leeanna knew it had come out much more sexually suggestive than she had meant for it to sound.
"Bold," Jonas smirked at her, "I can't have you showing me up, though. How about we get together and hang out sometime this week?"
"I'd like that." her heart was galloping, and she couldn't help but shoot a grateful glance towards Destiny.
"Do you enjoy watching movies?" Jonas asked, "I only have an old VHS player, maybe we can make it a nineties date."
"I'd like that," Leeanna smiled, "Maybe order some pizza. I can bring a blunt if you smoke?" she offered.
"Deal," he laughed, "No booze though."
"Definitely not," and she felt butterflies tickle her stomach at the thought of herself finally catching a lucky break, "Do you like the old Disney movies?"
"Of course. If you could be any Disney princess, who would you be, and why?"
"Uh," Leeanna sunk into her chair in deep thought, "I always loved the Little Mermaid because of the music."
"Ariel," Jonas scratched his nose, "A bit of an interesting pick."
"I didn't even notice," she laughed, "I guess I do like Ariel, and I'm not talking about the mermaid," she shot him a glance, "How about you?"
"Me?" he thought back hard, "Mulan."
"I didn't see that coming," she said, "Why Mulan?"
"Uh," he said, "Because she's a total badass?"
"Good enough," she smirked, "Courageous women don't bother you?"
"Of course, they don't bother me," Jonas smiled, "They just puke on me!"
"Jonas!"
"Is it true you're seeing Tommy Phillips?" he asked, "I'm not comfortable being a mistress."
"No, no, we broke up like ages ago, like I mean we have nothing to do with each other anymore," she added, "I mean nothing."
"Oh," said Jonas, "I'm glad then."
"Why are you glad?" she asked, her heart racing once more.
"I was thinking we could pick up where we left off at your place," and those words made her body feel numb as anxiety rushed over her.
"The part where I threw up on you?" she tried to make a joke, but it came out flat.
"I was thinking more like you grabbing me by the wrist and leading me into that dark forest."
"Then I'll look even worse than the last time," she protested.
"A cute girl demands you enter a dark forest with her," he smiled, "You go with her," and he leaned forward and placed his lips on her own.
