《The Undead Dungeon》Chapter 23 - Tentacles

It was a lot to take in. The diary was an eye opener for Adam. The reason an unusually large quantity of animals and monsters lived was that of Istrian experiment and his artificial core that boosted the natures growth. The mystery of the guardian was also solved. And the reason this place was called the forbidden forest was also that of him and his experiment. It was interesting how every single mystery and questions Adam's had so far was somehow related to Istrian Vendan. But with answers, comes more questions.
Is Istrian still alive? It must have been a long time since he left his diary because, in his diary, he refers to Evermoon as a village, but Lucia was the princess of Evermoon Kingdom. It might be two different places, but that was highly unlikely. That means Evermoon had the time to grow into a kingdom since Istrian left. Adam was also very interested in all of the places that Istrian visited. Sky City, Dragon Island were they dungeons? The part that he was most curious about was definitely, the secret undead city. Just thinking about all those undead causes him to smile. The things Istrian mentions about Dominus worries him. How many people did Dominus reincarnate to Mondo? How many did he turn into a dungeon? Most importantly, how many did he run over with his truck and cut short their time on Earth? Looking back on it Dominus was shady as hell, why did I make a deal with him?
But out of all of the question that I had, the most important of them was should I read the exotic book before burning them? There are codes between gentlemen about what to do about a gentlemen book collection when he went missing or passed away. It usually ends with burning, destroying, or deleting their collection. Istrian only said to burn it, but he didn't say that not to look at it. After he found the loophole, he called Butch into the core room. He asked for Butch to turn the pages of the exotic book. After five minutes and a series of uncomfortable and funny questions from Butch like "why are they face battling?" I told Butch to burn the book which he did.

How does the elf body bend like that? That book confirmed one thing, he doesn't have any sexual drive. When he was looking at the erotic pictures, he was more interested in how were those positions possible rather than getting aroused. Maybe elves just weren't his fetish, but that was impossible since elves are everybody fetish. With that confirmed, Adam had lost three out of the four things that made me happy. He can't sleep unless he counted getting knocked out by spending all of his mana as sleeping. He can't eat anything other than mana. Absorbing would be more accurate since mana doesn't have any taste. He also confirmed that he doesn't have any sexual arousal and he can't pitch a tent. He only had his undead now, if he lost them he would be very pissed and those that hurt them would be dead. But Mike told him there was a way for him to get a new body if he were to reach the fifth floor, so maybe there is hope him.
The new monsters that the artificial dungeon core brought with it would be very handy. Since Adam didn't know what to add on his desert floor, looking at the new monsters, loot, and traps might give him a way to spark his imagination.
"Mike, can you make a list of desert type monster from the new artificial dungeon core?"
With pleasure, Adam.
"Thanks, you're the best."
Monster
Desert
Cactus Assassin: 10 mana
Cactus Dryad: 15 mana

"Wow, that's a lot of choices. You know what we should do, Mike?"
Look at the monsters advantages and disadvantages and choose what would compliment our current floors monster lineup.
"No, that makes way too much sense. I'm just gonna close my eyes and choose one at random," said Adam with a toothy grin.

He closes his eyes, scrolls the monster list and chose a monster at random. Desert Hyacinth was where it landed. It sounds like a cool monster, so he purchased it and put it at the back of the floor without even looking at its description. He immediately regretted his decision after looking at the monster. A six-meter hole opened up and from it a four-meter a pyramid-shaped spike filled with yellow blooms appeared. But something more insidious began popping up from the root of the flower and inside the yellow blooms. Tentacles, sticky, slimy, green colored tentacles. Why did it have to be tentacles?
It was already too late to regret it. It had better have good status for looking that disgusting.
Monster Status Name: No Name Race: Plantae (Desert Hyacinth) Information A monster that uses its tentacle to strangle its victims and its needle to paralyze them before digesting them in their acid stomach. It can also spit acid from its yellow blooms. Skill [Paralytic Needle] [Acid Spit]
Holy shit, it has a gruesome way of fighting his enemies. Those skills are pretty self-explanatory. It may look repulsive, but it was his creation so, maybe he shouldn't be too hard on it. He just hoped it doesn't grope scantily clad women in the wrong places. It only took 20 mana to make this thing, that cost decrease for monster comes in handy. Adam look at the list once more since he still has 81 mana to burn. He decided to purchase Cactus Assassin since it sounded interesting, for a desert floor, this place had a lack of cactus.
Alright, Dominus was messing with him. Adam decided to buy another Cactus Assassin to see if Dominus was genuinely messing with him. Yup, that asshole was making fun of me.
"Mike, is Dominus messing with me?"
No, I don't think so. Why are you asking?
"Hmmm, if he wasn't fucking with me, why did he named a monster after assassins which are known for their stealth with this? Cactus with handlebar mustaches and wearing sombreros. It's not stealthy and kinda racist."
Well, you never know with Dominus. But the reason their mustaches and hats are showing is that they are in battle mode. When they are in stealth mode, they look like any other cactus.
"I don't even know how to respond to that answer. Sure, whatever," said Adam tired and defeated.
Adam decided to stop buying monsters, so he doesn't get a headache. With 61 mana left he decided to make a boss room with it. One mana was all he had after he finished creating the boss room.
"Now, who wants to be the boss?"

8 179Glitched! Uplift Arc
[Winner of the April 22 Royal Road Writathon Challenge] In 2202 the System reached Earth. Thankfully it had learnt from previous uplifts and implemented an introductory arc to acclimatise the new participants rather than chucking them in the deep end. The previous practice of just dumping unsuspecting beings into a System designed for the growth of the multiverse had led to catastrophic and sub-optimal results. The return on investment was abysmal. That old trope was so over-cooked - after nearly extinguishing itself through negative returns new policy was required. That was 356 trillion local years back. Now over 5600 successful uplifts had joined the ranks of the multiverse. But the System was always learning, always growing. Still there were glitches. Mostly minor. Mere irritants really. Sometimes even they were catalysts, triggering a fresh expansion. Soon the System would understand why. Our Earth was 7912th. - Ascend - Battle - Challenge - Dominate - Expand - Gro... - Glor... - Where’s the eff word? - Glitch... File corrupted. ---END SYN---
