《Parasites and Magic》Orcs 2

Finding the path that the orcs took was not in the slightest way hard, they broke almost every branch, pushed aside shrubbery and stomped down grass. She followed the path until she came to a clearing.

The clearing revealed a small orc camp. Judging by the number of orcs around and how things are structurally laid out, they didn’t look very advanced. Crude wooden buildings were established. Unmanned watchtowers, opened roofed buildings, and half-assed fences kept most of the forest at bay. Everything about this area screamed danger. Except for the innocent little silver-haired girl that approached one of the cooking pits. She stood at the entrance of the camp with little regard for how many orcs surrounded her. It took a while, but one of the orcs finally noticed, he stood and roared. The sound alerted just about every creature in the area. In return whooping and other roars came back. The whole camp was lively at this point.

A massive orc approached her first; he snickered saying something in the clan’s localized language. In his hand an ax, he raised her chin making her blue eyes look directly at his face. He let out a thunderous laugh. Probably due to how easy he was about to get fed or possibly he was just insulting her. He raised it high above her head then brought it down with enough force to split a tree trunk. The blade connected with her skull. He let go of the ax to hype up the growing crowd. His mind went straight to his stomach. After days of not eating, today was the day that he was going to fill his belly with delicious human meat or so he thought. The whooping of the other orcs quieted as the little girl remained standing. She reached the handle of the ax. With a bit of tug, she removed the weapon from her head. She threw the crude tool to the side. This enraged him; He roared in her face, he was going to tear her apart with his bare hands. She stared at him; her crystal clear eyes unmoving, unblinking as if she was looking inside him. She seemed almost unimpressed with the beast. This Is also the moment he realized; this was not a human.

He intended to crush her windpipe before he got close to her throat she reached outward grabbing his wrist. She also had the same idea; she closed her hand into a fist, the razor-sharp claws sliced through the bone and flesh with relative ease. The orc cried out in pain; His hand was twitching in the dirt. This feeling was not something he was accustomed to in fact, why was he feeling the pain, to begin with, He backed away from the tiny female. The look of absolute fear struck his soul.

She wasn’t going to allow him to get away that easy. She took two steps forward lunged at him making him fall back onto the ground. She sat on his chest clawing, tearing away flesh, pushing organs inside as she searched for something. With those eyes of hers, she saw the essence of magic. Much like how an ant would see pheromones. However, she found this particular orc to be nearly useless magic was stored deep inside its body in a tiny quantity, working this hard for merely a treat was inefficient. Her current form would burn through the current amount by moving.

Two more approached her with their weapons in hand; they too were just as disappointing. She hissed at them momentarily stunning them in place. They were not attacking for a piece of meat; they had been attacking for safety for It's not often they would see a tiny girl rip a full-grown alpha orc apart. She jumped off the corpse, getting low to the ground lunging once more. She dug into the ground and propelled herself forward, she might have overshot her distance, but she managed to cut the femur in half of one of her stunned prey. He fell to the ground shrieking. It seemed her claws could negate specific magic effects. And that enhanced adrenaline they possessed was most definitely a form of defensive magic. She rectified her jumping distance and attacked the carotid of the other orc. He dropped to the ground and squirmed as his blood was leaking out from the newly opened hole in his neck.

The orc she left alive was trying to crawl away blood gushed from his missing appendage. Maybe it was a predatory instinct perhaps it was just her, but she walked around the slow-moving prey and stood in his retreat path. It shrieked in horror. She grabbed the creature by its balding head and flipped it on its back. She straddled on top of its chest and stared. The beast desperately wanted away from this monster. It punched and scratched, but, there was entirely no damage it could do to her. Her arms and legs were covered with a thick chitin-like material, the top and sides of her head were also covered in the stuff. The reason that it was new to him was that it was covered by her long silver hair. She grabbed the jaw of the orc. The orc immediately stopped attacking her. The two sat in silence as she inspected him. Still nothing significant, maybe she was wrong about the one in every third orc. She ripped the jaw straight from the skull. The orc was gurgling trying to cling to life.

She had forgotten because of their weak magical presence, but there were at least a dozen more orcs in the camp. Many were weary even of trying and attacking her. She was going to be extremely busy in the next few hours or minutes. She stood from the corpse. Even if they tasted horrible, she could still convert the flesh to make a low amount of magic.

It didn’t even take nearly half as long as she thought it would have. The first three orcs she killed must’ve been the strongest. All the others almost died just from her breathing on them. She looked around the camp. Decapitated heads and disemboweled bodies were strewn across the ground.

It seemed one, and every twelve orcs were the right number. At least with the amount of flesh, she wouldn’t go hungry for a while. Leaving the devastation behind she went further north.

She wandered endlessly going in a singular direction. She did not see a single creature in that span of time. In fact, she came out to a deserted dirt road. Curious she decided to follow the way. The path hadn't been heavily trodded upon from the hooves, so it at least saw some traffic.

A few minutes into the walk, she collapsed. Her vision started to black she tried to stand but fell back to the ground. The amount of magical energy she used during the fight must’ve been more significant than she thought. Her vision once again went black. By the time she opened her eyes again, she was surrounded by three tall, dark-skinned beings. She was able to repeat one word she heard them say before blacking out a final time. “...F..am..i..ly?”
