《The Voyager》Season 1: The Starcraft Commander---Chapter 12: Recovery

Jean opened her eyes in the medbay of the Hyperion. She looked down on her body. Her hostile suit was taken off and put on a shelf next to the bed. Her entire body ached. She did inject enhanced stimpack for three times during the battle. She was lucky to be alive.
A woman in white walked into the room. She was someone Jean met earlier. Doctor Hanson of Agria. Jean remembered the few remaining colonists remained on the Hyperion after losing most of their families. These survivors had nowhere to go, and none of them wanted to return to the Dominion after their men abandoned the colonists to the zerg. Thus they remained on the ship to help the Raiders against the zerg and the Dominion. They slightly compensate the losses the Raiders suffered on Agria. As their leader, doctor Hanson stayed to help the medical front of the Hyperion.
“You’re awake.” Hanson saw Jean waking up. “Adjacent, inform Jim.” She walked to Jean and pulled a chair to sit beside her bed. “How’re you feeling?”
“Aching.”
“You’re lucky to be alive.” Hanson replied. “Your body was falling apart from the stimulants you took. The wound on your stomach and the loss of blood almost killed you. I had to use everything I had to bring you back to us. Still you’re gonna have that scar on you for the rest of your life.”
Jean grinned weakly and looked down on her stomach. There was a deep red scar that put a dent on her near perfect body. It doesn’t matter. It wasn’t like she would be going out in bathing suit anytime soon. “Thanks.” She said to Hanson. The two have had some dispute on Agria, but now both of them let it pass. "What did I miss?"

"Well several Raiders came to check you out. Jim came here a few times himself. He told me to call him as soon as you wake up."
Footsteps drew closer, and Jean saw Raynor entering the room. Hanson stood up and left the room to the two.
“What were you thinking Jean? Going to a duel with a freaking protoss? You’re smarter than that!” Raynor said loudly. He seemed furious, but Jean knew he was furious because the man was afraid of losing her. Raynor truly cared about her.
“I had no choice, and I told you I would do anything to achieve my goal.” Jean stated. “It worked.”
“Just barely.” Raynor continued. “Your stomach was cut open when you got on the ship. I thought I was going to lose you…” He paused for a while. “just like how I lost Sarah to the zerg.”
Jean frowned. She knew Sarah Kerrigan, formal ghost and current queen of blades, was the lover of Jim Raynor. The two had quite a past, and Mengsk’s decision to abandon Kerrigan immediately resulted in Raynor’s decision to hijack the Hyperion and lead a revolt against the Dominion for years. The problem was why would she, a lieutenant with no sexual relationship with Raynor, be connected to a ghost operative Raynor loved and slept with?
Jean had no idea how much she represented the former queen. They were both determined and willing to complete the mission at all cost. They were both good looking. They were both brilliant strategists. And most importantly they were both lieutenants. The fact that their suits were similar was also an influence as Jean modified her specialized suit after the hostile environment suit of female ghosts. When Raynor heard about the terrible situation on Xil from the Hyperion it was as if he was back to Tarsonis where Mengsk abandoned Kerrigan.

Jean didn’t know why Raynor showed so much emotion, but she realized it would be an opportunity she could use.
“Anyways, just stay here and rest. We’re currently above the planet Redstone III and are mining minerals for a guy named Tosh. It’s safe and sound besides surges of lava.” Raynor assured. “Your orders are to get well soon. The Raiders might need you for future events.” Jean nodded and smiled and Raynor left the room.
It took Jean days to get back into the field, even though Dr.Hanson suggested her to stay in the medbay for a few more days. Jean refused. She couldn’t afford spending more time on bed. From what she heard, the Raiders have completed the mission on Redstone, and the client, Gabriel Tosh, was onboard the Hyperion and planning to strike another deal with Raynor. She felt like she needed to be there.
Jean walked into the bridge and found Raynor talking to a man with dark skin and an intriguing hair style. Before she came Jean connected a micro AI to her brain and the AI told her the man was a psionic user.
“Jean, you’re here.” Raynor smiled as the lieutenant entered. “Tosh, this is Jean. Jean, Tosh.” Jean shook hand with Tosh.
“Mr.Raynor have told me about you. He said you’re one of the best commanders he had ever seen and a great fighter, even besting one of the tal’darim fanatics in combat.” Tosh said and his eyes secretly twitched. He didn’t sense any psi energy from the girl, which meant she was probably not physic. How could a human defeat a protoss executor who rose to his rank by skills in combat? Even with armor a normal terran would be severed by one strike from any protoss, much less a high ranking protoss executor. Still, he hid the confusion.
Jean smiled politely. “I got lucky.” She said before getting to business. “Now, I heard you have another deal to make with the Raiders.”
Tosh nodded. “There’s a rare gas on Bel’Shir the protoss call ‘the breath of creation’. They think it be a gift from god.” He laughed briefly. “We call it the terrazine and it be worth a fortune to the right bidders. Of course the protoss’ll try to kill us if they catch us, or at least they’ll try.”
“Wait, tal’darim protoss?” Jean asked. She wasn’t afraid, even though she almost died during the last encounter. She was just calculating the possibility of succeeding and she didn’t like the odds. “We don’t exactly have the firepower to hold them back.”
“Relax girl, I did some digging before coming here.” Tosh reassured. “The tal’darim here are few in numbers. They are not the elite of the death fleet nor are they high on the chain of ascension. This is just one of the several planets that held terrazine geysers. The tal’darim guarding here relatively weak members of their society. They’ll still try their best, but I believe the raiders can beat them.”
“Swann added some new units to the arsenal when you were resting.” Raynor explained. “He seemed to be hard on himself after you were hurt. Anyways, we now have goliaths and reapers at our command. We also took a stop at deadman’s port and bought some new equipments. Of course, I can take over command if you want to stay back for a few more days...” Jean cut him off before he even finished.
“I’ll do it.”

8 114A Requiem For The End
Yuga wakes up on a cold, frigid land entirely covered in snow. Where was he? Who was he? Neither of these could he remember but he didn't have time to think of it, he could tell danger wasn't far. A quick death if he failed to avoid it. It was fast approaching and much as he tried to escape, it quickly caught up with him. Luckily he had survived, but was he just lucky or was there something more to him.....? A Requiem For The End is a fantasy story set in a world.......well, quite different from most stories you might have seen (I honestly don't know how to better describe it). Early into the story (prologue) the world feels elusive because you slowly learn about it through the eyes of Yuga. As you read on questions may arise in your mind and mysteries will present themselves. The answers to them will come the further you read. I'd like to think the plot is a bit larger than the average and same goes for the world building. If you find this story intriguing then all I can say is - There's a lot for me to tell, hop on?
