《The God in the Grove》Book 4 Chapter 45: To the Old Mountain...

“What? “Fari looked from Tirr to Dun, looking for any kind of explanation… “Go where? What's wrong now?”
“There's no time! We have to go now!” Tirr started his body already moving towards the tent opening before any of the others could get up. As he reached the flap that served as the tent's entrance, he stopped his, voice quiet as he muttered to himself… “Or is it already too late? Would we be better off gathering as many forces as possible? But it would take weeks for Claire and Nerida to come now…”
The others had stood up now and we're looking at him in varying degrees of shock. Even Maria Doron and Dun were having trouble understanding him…
“Ahhhhh!” Tirr suddenly yelled making the others jump. He held his head in his hands as he glared at an imaginary Rev… I should have just killed that idiot earlier! Now, how are we going to deal with this?!?!?”
“Deal with what?” Fari asked, yet the conversation seemed to move along without her, leaving her more and more confused. Kos just raised an eyebrow at Dun, but the former mercenary was too busy trying to think on what Tirr was saying…
“Is it really going to wake up?” Maria asked as she finally managed to catch up to Tirr’s train of thought. Instantly she thought back the titan curried deep beneath the ocean's surface. “The other one…”
“It’s too hard to know for sure, but it's a possibility.” The little god shook his head, “The way it was absorbing the energy around it. If a sudden feast of Shard users shows up and basically feeds themselves to it. That might be enough to push it over the edge…”
“We don’t even have all our forces here…” Doron spoke up, looking from Tirr to Dun… “Most of the honor guard is still back at the other valley. And from what I understand it’s the same for the other clans around here….”

“It's still possible that Rev didn’t even go there…” Dun answered him, “All we know is he was heading in that direction. He might have veered off or only passed by. That wouldn’t be enough to wake it right?”
“Wake what!?” Fari finally yelled, her voice sharp with irritation at being ignored, “What is it you’re all talking about?”
The four of them stopped for a moment, realizing there were still others in the tent with them. Most were looking at the trio in confusion and some fear as they said one scary thing after another.
Dun coughed lightly looking at Fari as he tried to explain, “Fari, the statue at the altar to the ancestors, it's not just a statue… I know it's hard to believe, but I saw it for myself… I don’t know the last time you’ve been up there, but it's been… Sucking the life out of that place. We…” He motioned to Tirr “Think it’s the reason behind the Beast attacks. They were scared away from their usual territories because of that thing…”
“That’s…” The older woman sputtered… “That’s impossible, if that were true if that thing woke up it would be…”
“Enormous yes… And even harder to deal with than you could imagine…” Tirr cut her off, It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe us, We need to go check to see if that idiot really brought his people there and if it's close to waking up… If it is and we attack it haphazardly we could just speed the process up. We’ll go check with a small and fast group first while making sure whatever fighters available prepare for a fight…”
With that he left the tent, only glancing back as he heard the flap open again behind him as Maria and Doron followed out as well… Soon to be copied by Dun and Kos. After that. to Tirr’s surprise, Fari and Koti followed as well “If you’re going to take a look then I’m coming with you… I’ll see for myself if what you say is true…”

Tirr nodded, and spoke quickly to Doron, “Go back to the Waythe clan valley and gather the others, make sure everyone is ready to fight at moment's notice…”
“My men will go with you…” Dun added, waving a couple of these clan members over and passing them the same orders…
“Mine as well…” Kos said cheerfully as he pulled off his bone necklace handing it to the messenger as he winked at Dun, “We can have everyone meet at the pass to the Holy Mountain… If nothing else, it could be good training haha…”
Fari seemed to agree and passed the messenger her own clan leader symbol as well, leading the poor messenger to wonder what could be going on that would require the full might of three of the tribe's clans…
Tirr waited impatiently for them to send their orders and soon the small group of clan leaders and their seconds was ready…. Setting off onto the mountain’s trails…

Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
