《Cliche?》Chapter 23: Mother

I felt it again… A familiar resonance… It called out to me, more strongly than the last. It grasped blindly for my presence. Out of curiosity, I searched the resonance. Why did it feel so familiar? I felt this sensation only once before, but where? This is…!

Veloth! My child lives! Immediately I search for the origin of the resonance, but it fades before I can pinpoint it’s exact location. However, I know the general direction, and no world, no universe, no dimension can keep me from my child.

“Drema, what is it?” my husband asks of me.

“Jargen, our child lives, and I found the direction he is hidden.”

“That is grand news Drema!” He leapt into the air with pure joy. “He must have grown strong for you to be able to detect him from this dimension, after his own father!” He boasted proudly.

“I am glad for it. He had such trouble learning to speak, it worried me.”

“I guess you will be taking his fiancee to find him and return to us here then?”

“Ah, yes, bringing Myria is a wonderful idea.”

“Right then, i’ll continue dealing with these pesky gods of chaos and destruction and what-not with their silly titles, until your safe return!” He puffed his chest out. So boastful, it made me giggle.

“Try not to destroy a world that would upset the balance of their universe, you know the implications, dear.”

“I told you that was an accident! let it go already!” He pouted.

“No, no, no, dear, mistakes should be remembered in order to avoid repeating them.” I reprimanded him.

“Geez, I get it already! i’ll incapacitate them tactfully! You will see!” He pleaded.

“Fufu… I’ll leave it to you then, dear. I’ll be off now, take care my sweet.” I rub my nose against his, inhaling his scent deeply, before teleporting to Myria’s location.

“Drema!” Myria shouted excitedly upon seeing me materialize, and excitedly dashes before me, rubbing her body affectionately against mine, tails wagging. She was a beautiful mana spirit at two years old. She had grown into a magnificent adult. “What facilitates your visit to this volcanic mess of a planet?” She inquired me.

“Your fiance, my son, lives, and I have found the general area he has been hidden in. I’ve come to take you with me to fetch him back.”

“Oh, gladly! I can’t wait to meet him! My fiance!” She said with starry eyes, probably imagining Veloth’s appearance as I had described him before his disappearance.

“Let’s be off then.”

Veloth POV:

We approached the gates of Pandemonium. The castle was bustling with activity. There were soldiers of the varying colors Ira had described to me. It looked like all the Seven Sins were here, although i’m not sure if Ira himself was here, considering there were no red-clad soldiers.

Upon approaching the gate, a soldier clad in white, one of Pride’s soldiers, if I am not mistaken, rushed up to us. Hahnu stepped forward to announce my arrival and avoid any confusion, but it was unnecessary. The soldier knew exactly who I was, and ushered us through the bustling soldiers and into the castle.

We were guided not to the throne room, but instead to another room with double doors elsewhere in the castle. Shouting and arguments could be faintly heard from this side of the doors. The two guards, both Pride soldiers, stood at attention at our arrival, and one of them knocked on the double doors loudly, before opening it a fraction to whisper something to those inside.

“Well let him in already, fool!” Kel’thul could be heard, and he was clearly in a bad temper. I wonder if that temperament is common for him?

The guards flusteredly threw open the double doors and gestured for us to enter. Before me was the sight of vastly different demons who seemed to exude their own unique personality.

I saw first those I recognized, Kel’thul at the head of a long table laden with maps and figurines, followed by Ira, Brows furrowed whilst glaring at those maps and chewing his lips. Zavus was fiddling with a figurine, looking disinterested.

Standing beside Kel’thul at the head of the table, was a man who wore white armor. His skin was made up of white scales, and his eyes were cherry red. He was definitely of the Dragsul race, like that annoying Nilus, and judging by his armor, he was Pride.

Next was a small girl eating a steady stream of candies from a bowl placed in her childlike lap. She had white skin, pointed ears, large round violet eyes, and platinum blond hair. She stared intently at the maps while absent-mindedly placing the candies indiscriminately into her mouth. If I had to place her trope, she would be Gluttony.

By far the most alluring site, was a woman wearing a nearly transparent white robe, with a low cut to show off her generous bust. She had long smooth black hair, ruby red lips, emerald eyes, two small pointed red horns, a pair of red batlike wings, and a long dextrous tail that ended in a spearpoint. Another trope, Lust, and a succubus to boot.

Next was a man who looked to be in his teens. He had curved horns, like a ram, and hooves rather than shoes. His hands were outfitted with long intimidating claws. He looked longingly at one of Zavus’ rings. Envy, I guess?

Next a man who nearly matched Ira in size and muscle, his skin looked like it was made of rock, and gray in color. He was also bald, almost similar in appearance to the Thing of the Fantastic Four. He slouched in his seat, head in his hand, drumming his fingers against his chin impatiently. Sloth, perhaps?

“Ah! Veloth! Hahnu! And… guests! Welcome back! So Hahnu, what did you think?” Kel’thul’s expression immediately brightened up, and everyone's gaze pointed in our direction.

“More than suitable, nya. I want him, nya.” Hahnu responded.

“Then, Veloth, won’t you marry my daughter?” Kel’thul asked.

“Huh? Marry who?” I asked in confusion.

“Hahnu of course!”

“Wait… She is…?”

“Nyahah.” She grinned mischievously at me. “Marry me, Veloth?”

“W-wha?” What the hell is going on? Was I called here just for this? Equally surprised were Viridi and Sival… Or I imagine they were dumbstruck beyond words because Viridi was contantly shielding her eyes after glancing anywhere into the room and Sival’s jaw dropped.

“Well, lets worry about the ceremony later, we have more pressing needs right now.” Kel’thul declared and gestured for me to have a seat.

“It seems the Aesir have attacked...” Kel’thul began…

A/N: Sorry for the very late chapter (a few too many personal issues all at once decided to crop up and rear their ugly heads). I know it might be smaller than some would like but I figure getting something out is better than nothing. Hope you enjoy!
