《Greenskin》Chapter 19 - Guess Who's Back

The hunting duo came hurtling down the mountain side, Grak had moved away from the cliffside mere moments after seeing the fire rising from the forest. The forest was alight. The Lady's forest, the bark of the trees were her skin, the leaves her hair. If the forest was aflame, then so was The Lady. Grak could not allow her to burn, to suffer. No matter what, this hobgoblin hunter would protect The Lady and punish whatever would have the gall to burn her hair and scorch her skin.

Steal followed along of course, he could barely understand any of the multitude of seething words and curses that his much larger companion angrily spat from his borderline frothing fanged mouth. The goblin figured there was very little he could gain from going off into the forest alone and he had to admit, the goblin had no idea where he was or how to even get back to the village, nevermind his birthplace... Though that was a place he did not wish to return to.

The two stumbled, dashed and slipped down the rocky hillside; every few meters Steal would lose his footing, even the thick soles of his feet and his new trait didn't nullify the damage he was taking; sharp stones and jagged rocks cut into his flesh as he tumbled downwards, the last thing he noticed as he tumbled into a thorny rose bush was how agile Grak was; although he'd seen hobgoblin move quickly, his hulking, muscular body certainly didn't seem appropriate for how dexterous and agile he was. Whilst Steal had been tumbling down the mountainside, practically in freefall, Grak had been deftly sprinting, barely so much as losing his footing down the unstable footing.

You Have Suffered 4 Damage

Before Steal could come to his senses, he felt that ever-so-familiar muscular arm grab him; Grak wouldn't stop, and simply dragged the little goblin along with him as he tore through the forest. Steal managed to struggle free from the uncomfortable, tight grip of the powerful hobgoblin.

As the goblin squeezed out of his arms and dropped to the damp forest floor, the hunter just kept on sprinting, Steal quickly scrambled to his feet and tried to follow behind, not intending to get left alone in a place he didn't know... which was essentially everywhere at the moment.

The two pushed through the forest, Steal barely managing to keep pace thanks to his smaller stature, his legs may have been shorter, and his sprint slower; but he could more easily avoid the overhanging branches and knarled tree roots that so densely populated this overgrown, ancient forest.

The air turned dry, black smoke continued to billow into the sky, visible through small gaps in the thick canopy. Steal could feel the raging flames as they approached, as if it could already burn him. Waves of fire licked the bases of trees far older than the very first of the creature that had set it aflame. There it was; it's hundreds of red scales and clawed wings came into view as the two monsters pushed forwards.
