《Origin A.R.S.》The Volume II Update - and Smashwords Coupon
Advertisement
Hello happy Origin lovers, and people who like it just 'OK'. :)
EDIT: I realized that there was a small repeating error and re-uploaded the book on Smashwords. The part where Ero's theme is playing during that final boss fight in the mine had not kept its formatting. So, I italicized and re-centered those few lines. If you want, you should be able to download the story's new version update. If that sort of thing doesn't bother you so much, then continue on. :)
I have to wait till Amazon finishes reviewing the story before I can update that.. and then they'll take freaking hours to do review it again... but this is an obvious issue so I need to change it. ... end of Edit. The version is updated on smashwords
EDIT-EDIT: All versions SHOULD be up to date now. :)
--- continue here ---
I've finally finished revamping volume II a bit and I have placed it up on Smashwords and Amazon.
If anyone want to read the official version for free, you can do so at Smashwords using this coupon -> DF69T
The coupon is good until April 1, 2015. So... till next month. Feel free to leave a review!
If you wish to 'support the arts' you can buy the second volume on Amazon for $2.99.
If you do not wish to read or buy either version, but want to help support the series feel free to click on that Amazon link anyway, and then scroll to where you can leave a customer review/comment.
In order to rate anything on Amazon, you will need to have purchased something at some time or other on Amazon. So, if you've never used the site, and can't review the series there, you can still do so here on Royal Road. :)

Rate it what you believe is appropriate on a scale of 1 -5 stars and leave a short comment. You have to leave a comment for it to count properly I guess. That's true both here and on Amazon.
If you have not reviewed the first volume on Amazon and you wish to do so as support for the series, feel free to do so. Honest reviews are always welcome. Just scroll to the bottom and click on the customer review thingy. You have to actually say something, though, if you do it.
Anyway, back to the update!
In case you are wondering about what has changed... There are several expanded scenes, two or three new scenes (I can't decide if some of them count as new or just expanded.)
Either way, every chapter is at least 500 - 1000 words more descriptive and several previous scenes are more flavorful. There are 14 chapters now, but there are no 'new' chapters. I split and rearranged a few things, then fleshed out those things. Though, if you add up all the minor scene expansions and new scenes.. among other things, it would be enough content for a few new chapters anyway.
from what I can tell it went from around 60,000 words to just shy of 74,000. I will try to make the next volume slightly longer as well. I am shooting to make the rest of the series end up being around the 80-90k word mark per volume. So, leaving the light novel area and entering somewhat proper novel territory. :)
In comparison, the first volume's finished version was around 54,000-ish words. So, definitely a good bit bigger this time. Something like an extra 60 pages on kindle, it seems. Not sure how it would rate in a paperback pages, but that's still a bit more meaty than before.

At the end of the book, I have added a glossary. I will probably add that information here on RRL in another update.
I chose to hold off on the bestiary and have that be part of the actual story, so those entries will start popping up in the next volume, instead of being tacked on at the end of a volume. If I do add a bestiary entry in the story, I'll probably add it at the end of the story as well, however. That way people can quickly reference that information. I might also add in the character stats and things as well from now on.
If you see any specific terms throughout the story that you want to have me define, I will add them to the glossary from now on. :)
The first chapter of volume III should be out tonight or tomorrow morning depending on my inner muse. Thank you for your patience!
By the way, what do you think of the new book cover? :)

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. The gamelit and xianxia elements are uncovered at a slow pace. ******************************** Notes: If you are looking for lots of fast moving action right away, this story may not be for you. There is some violence that is visceral and realistic early on. Some things are not what they appear to be. Character viewpoint narration is not always reliable. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice. (And if you actually read all of the above, then this story may be for you) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Chromesight
After three centuries, post-industrial civilization threatens to shatter. Megacorporations accrue enormous power by linking together nations turned insular in the aftermath of yesterday's global multilateralism; a reinvigorated United Nations threatens the crumbling sovereignty of state by enforcing human rights independently of member nations, and the UN and others patrol for mass destruction technologies in the ever-accelerating, ever-democratizing arms race. Another environmental collapse looms, visions of the last haunting memories and consciences of the lower and middle classes around the globe. That is the reality that virtual child Colton is rehabilitated into. A system shock, a brave new world and above all a regurgitation. Rescued from being a tool in cyberspace and grown a new body, Colton couldn't care less about the new meatspace world. He wants to go back, back to the electronic glow that was his home. - - - - This is a MyNoWriMo entry. Lesser known than NaNoWriMo, MyNoWriMo takes place in January and is otherwise exactly the same. The goal is to finish this as quickly as possible and then possibly circle back and tidy things up. In the meantime there'll be no editing and helter-skelter story planning since I didn't do it beforehand :/
