《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 4

Over a period of ten days, from what Amy could tell from the sun’s movement, she was finally able to have complete control of the iceberg. She also controlled the surrounding area of a metre from all sides of the iceberg. However, it took a while to integrate it into her territory. She kept on having problems with mana thread breakage and over-extending herself. Each time it happened, she had to start over again with those areas.
The iceberg was not as big as she initially thought it was. It reached 6 metres above sea level and 16 metres below sea level. While irregularly shaped, the most extended bit measured 25 metres from side to side.
While not the large and majestic iceberg that she envisioned, it was her new home, and with all homes, there are ways to improve it. But the iceberg held life and materials that will allow Amy to have a base to work from.
The iceberg was shaped with two points above sea level, with a valley between the two, and below sea level, it was shaped more or less to a point. One thing that she noticed the most about the physical aspects of the iceberg was that it was not made of solid ice. There were natural tunnels, crevices, grooves, etc., throughout the iceberg. If you ignored the closed-off room that her core stayed in, there were a bunch of air bubble rooms 10 centimetres or bigger throughout most of the iceberg. Some of the cracks or bubble rooms were filled with either fresh or saltwater.
One thing that Amy was happy about was that the iceberg was not devoid of life.
After she had added the whole iceberg into her territory, Amy noticed something different. Unlike before, where the only mana within her territory was her own, now, there were thousands of tiny little specks of mana permeating within the iceberg and below sea level.

So, Amy investigated. She wandered over to the areas that contained those tiny specks of foreign mana and greatly pleased what she saw.
The first area that Amy checked had a one-metre tall and 50 centimetres wide room with a small crack at the very top of it that had water streaming out of it. The amount of water was slowly streaming out was only a trickle, but it was enough to either create or add to the small puddle at the bottom of the room. At the bottom of the room, there was a stone where the specks of mana were mainly congregating in this room. The specks of mana were actually representative of a type of small green moss.
Amy stared at the moss so hard that a description appeared.
Arctic Moss
A type of moss that thrives in any type of cold temperature. It can grow hundreds of metres long, and as long as there are enough nutrients to encourage its growth, it will never stop growing.
Amy stared at the description blankly.
‘Why … is this here? I couldn’t get any system or status page up, so what is this?’ Amy stared at the description and couldn’t believe that there was something like this. When she first appeared in the iceberg, in this world, she tried to pull up a status page, screen, or a system that this world uses. But there was nothing that she could find. The only time Amy saw something like a status screen would be when she had to choose her dungeon affinity.
With the limited information that she was currently in possession of, Amy decided to call this the dungeon page, as all of her interactions with the floating words were dungeon-related in some way.
Amy was excited to see if this trend would continue, and knowing that those little specks of mana were living beings, or at least things that had mana in them were the little specks. And she was pretty excited to see what else this previously imagined wasteland contained.

So, Amy continued exploring each of the foreign specks of mana that was absorbed into her dungeon. What she found was astonishing. What she previously thought was a wasteland actually held small ecosystems and life within it.
As she discovered each thing that had mana within it, she made sure to grab the descriptions of them.
Rime Moss
A type of dark blue moss that lives on the outside of ice and can absorb ambient mana surrounding it.
Flash-Frozen Glacial Salamander Eggs
The eggs of a type of salamander that is only found within cold and icy environments. Due to an unexpected drop in temperature, these eggs were flash-frozen but still have the ability to produce the life held within them.
Algae
A type of plant grouping that usually grows in water of any kind and does not produce seeds.
Scaly-Foot Snail
A species of ocean-living snail that is commonly found in cold environments where there is a lot of algae, its primary food source.
Verglas
A type of extremely rare phenomenon where iron has been encased in ice for thousands of years. During this time, the iron would start to grow into the ice, creating a new type of metal.
Amy was incredibly pleased with what she discovered and what the little specks of mana represented. In turn, she was able to have a baseline on actually constructing her dungeon and have living beings that she could use to lure other animals into her grasp. But the best thing was that as she added the iceberg into her domain, those little specks of mana became part of her and her dungeon.
Through her close inspection of those specks of mana, Amy also explored every nook and cranny that was her iceberg and discovered all cracks, valleys, streams, rooms, and water-filled pathways throughout it.
With a big grin on her face, Amy went to work, trying to make it even more magnificent and especially more dangerous. Her first step, trying to experiment with her mana.
