Vehicles and Mounts

Of course you don’t want to spend all day hoofing it around on foot. You’d rather get to your destination, get your business done, and head home with your rewards without spending your time watching out for packs of wolves or random Wildmen. With a decent mount - or better yet a vehicle - you can leave most ordinary kinds of trouble behind while you speed away making rude gestures at it.

Horses

Horses can be had from any number of NPC traders, though they aren’t cheap, and you’ll pay for quality (think speed and stamina). You can also buy from other players by checking the market boards. If you’re feeling ambitious and don’t mind some serious travel you can head out into the wilds and break your own mount with the help of the local tribes (though they’ll have their own price for their assistance).

Motorcycles

Only slightly rarer and more expensive than Horses, a good bike is a solid investment that will make your life easier. Of course there aren’t any more factories, so you should count yourself lucky to get a Frankencycle. But with enough determination you might be able to piece together something more classic.

Cars and Trucks

Fuel or charge is precious and pricey, but for speed and protection combined, a rusty Subaru covered with welded metal plates is hard to beat, plus you can bring a bunch of your friends along for the ride. Or you might prefer the look of a gigantic mutant pickup belching black smoke as you mow down your enemies from the air-conditioned comfort of your cab - the choice is yours. With enough work, just like with the motorcycles, you might be able to reconstruct a real pre-War relic.

Military Vehicles

Light armor such as troop transports can be had - they’re not as fast or as efficient as a good truck, but you can’t beat them for protection and mobility for your whole party. Heavier and harder-hitting transportation can be found as well, but not without a lot of work or a lot of money. Or both.

Flying Vehicles

You’ll see gyrocopters in the sky once in a while. If you can manage to find a pilot they might be willing to share more information on how to enter their ranks, for a price. There are stories of other things being seen in the sky as well, but those are probably just crazy nonsense.

Unique Mounts

They’re rare, but you’ll see them now and then. How you obtain one is something you’ll have to learn on your own, but if you’ve ever wanted your own War Elephant, it can be done. Not easily, but it can be done. Keep your eyes open. You never know what opportunities might show up as possible quest rewards. Spend some time talking to the NPCs. It might be worthwhile. Of course a lot of things can be had from other players on the market boards, if you're wealthy enough.
