Hi All,
Sorry for using this to notify you of some changes, but given that they are pretty significant I didn't want to just leave it to an author's note. The previously released chapters, Chapters 14 and 15, have been edited as part of a fairly significant rewrite of Chapters 14-18. I highly recommend going back and re-reading both chapters. Additionally, I've seen a number of questions about fire and why it matters and how Asance treats it. I can only suggest that you read the chapters more closely. First, the Public Dungeon is, as someone noted in the comments, a tree. Trees and fire don't mix well! Additionally, the Guardians have already made an appearance earlier in the novel (I believe chapter 12). I recommend re-reading that if you're curious about how the city-state is policed.
