《Dungeon Games》V2 Prologue: The first day begins!

I felt a pressure on my cheek, and I groaned and rolled over, only to feel it again, and again. It was like I was being poked. I groaned and opened my eyes, the sound of voices distant in my ears, and the images blurry from being so sleepy.
“Wakie wakie Sidnie, it’s the first day of school!”
Franny, and Jessica. Both were smiling at me, though Jessica wasn’t looking at me fully for some reason. I yawned, and stretched, my shirt riding up on my stomach some, a small draft hit it and I shivered. Franny poked my belly then, and I giggled.
“Stop! I’m up. I’ll get dressed.”
Franny smiled at me, and dragged a very red Jessica from the room, and I tilted my head at them both. Goofballs.
Jumping up I nearly fell, lack of balance, but managed to go into my bathroom and brush my hair out before putting on my favorite pair of pants, they were a bit old, but I loved them. Along with an undershirt, and long sleeve shirt, followed by the Baggy sweater I had gotten from Daddy a while ago.
Tying my hair into a tight bun, to keep it from going everywhere, I went downstairs, and told Mommy goodbye, though she hugged me for ten full minutes not wanting to let go. I grinned, I didn’t want to leave for a day without her either. But I was excited.
I would be with Franny, and Jessica at school for the first time in forever! Leaving the house, we waited at the corner for the bus, a Prompt showing itself from my watch.
Sidnie, you should wait inside where it’s warmer. I fear for you health.
I shook my head and took a deep breath of fresh, clean air. It smelled wonderful!
“No~! I’m going to wait outside, and hear the birds, and feel the wind.”
Franny and Jessica laughed, and I pounced onto Jessica’s arm, it made her flush red but she smiled. Hehehe, I liked the reaction. It made her seem more girly and cute. If she acted like this normally, why did nobody ask her out? If I were a boy I would. I’d asked Franny the other day, actually. She had just told me Jessica shot them all down. I frowned a little, but let it go.
I was actually starting to get nervous, and the real reason I was clinging to Jessica, and in turn Franny, was that I was a little scared. I’d been away from school and people for a long time. I was happy to go, yet nervous and frightened. I think Jessica and Franny knew that as well, because both let me cling to them like a child hiding from the monster under the bed.
I couldn’t help it, as the bus pulled up my mind was going crazy with thoughts. Would they like me? Would they hate me? Would I make friends? Would I meet a cute boy? Would I do well in school? and so on and so forth it went. It was actually starting to make me feel a little sick.
I squeezed Jessica’s arm a little before we got on the boss, and she smiled down at me, and pulled me on.
“Come on Sid, it’ll be ok. Franny and I are here for you.”
I nodded, and got onto the bus, rushing behind Jessica to sit beside her by the window, Franny taking the outer seat. I’d ignored the stares. I did not really like being stared at. It made me feel self conscious and silly.

My school was called Dawn Light Academy, it was actually a prestigious school that focused on the new and rising field of Dungeon Wars, apparently, and we would all be freshmen there. Franny, Jessica, and I. The classes had all the basics of course, though the majority dealt with small class sizes. Five through Ten to a class, and each subject was taught through the Dungeon World, aside from a few that required extra material, though they were incorporated into it as well.
It was among the first of its kind. Funded and controlled by Dungeon Inc. it served as a kind of research to see if children, young adults and teens, would learn more while having fun, rather than cramming text book knowledge down their throats. I kind of liked the idea, the classes were meant to make each student feel like they were being paid attention to. Each school today had this system of course, no longer were we shoved into classrooms of fifty or more, and given a lackluster education.
“How is the school, do you think?” I whispered to them both.
“It’s the top of it’s field, apparently they even host several tournaments throughout the year, outside of class duels.” Franny said, lifted her glasses a bit.
“I just want to see what we can do later, I want to try and reach the Adept Rank before graduation!” Jessica said, and I grinned. It took a lot of dedication and time to advance in Dungeon Wars, it was kind of like a job, Pro Gaming it was once called I believed. You won money through tournaments, and events, or were paid by the company for learning new things.
I thought it was a neat system, but I wanted to be a developer like Daddy! Make new Races, and help expand upon the old ones. I smiled, looking at my watch a little. Leo was with me as well, more so because we each had our portable tables under our seats, and out backpacks contained mostly note taking material, no textbooks were used, we took notes, and were guided hands on by our teachers to help us learn to the best of our abilities. I was super excited for that, but along with that excitement came the worry, and I hunkered down between Jessica, and Franny, trying to not be sick.
The other kids on the bus were whispering, and a few were no doubt looking our way to see the new kid. Franny just smiled at me, and wrapped an arm around my shoulders telling me once more, it was alright. To ignore them.
Easier said than done, considering the only human contact aside from them and my parents had been my Doctor. I was not used to this level of attention, and it was a little scary for me.
I turned my mind toward focusing on what I had learned a few days ago in regards to Obsidian. Leo had said she had consolidated her Territory the night of my birthday, and was rebuilding her losses. She had lost a large enough number that it would take a week, even with an increase in reproduction, to get the numbers back up between each of the House locations.
She also seemed to be sending scouts of her own into the neighboring Territories of Red, Fluffy, and Specter. Though the ones that entered Fluffies had to go through the Wolf controlled section, and never seemed to make it far. Leo had told me that there were petrified Husks at the edge of the border, and it made me wonder what the Wolves had grown into, yet not shown to Fluffy in combat yet.

Though the Scouting parties sent into Red, and Specter’s territory came back, mostly in tact. I was worried they would start fighting each other soon. I knew they each wanted more power, it was in their very nature to crave it. Fluffy seemed to be the only difference, and Leo and I attributed that to him being the one I spent the most time controlling, and, honestly, playing with. I liked sneaking in as his puppies.
I had been trying to spend more time controlling the others, but each one ‘spoke’ to me, and Red kept trying to have me control Selene when I talked to her. Leo wouldn’t tell me why, and Red only ever told me it was so we could play together, her voice still made me feel weird, kind of tingly, but I have gotten better at ignoring it.
I was shaken from my thoughts as the bus came to a stop, and Jessica said we were here. Looking out the window I saw a large three story building that could only be our school. I smiled, excited and nervous all over again, though mostly excited because it was something new!
We got off the bus, I stayed stuck between Franny and Jessica, ignoring the looks thrown my way. Jessica also seemed to make a point of standing just a teeny bit behind me because of something a few boys had said I didn’t catch. I asked her why, she said they were commenting on my butt. I frowned, why would they do that?
Jessica had simply sighed, and was no doubt about to lecture me some, I was saved by entering the building itself, and we marched our way toward an assembly hall near the entrance where a speaker was standing by a podium with a microphone.
“Welcome! Now if you can all find a seat, and quiet down I will begin explaining how our school places you all into the needed classes!”
Placed? I panicked a little, did this mean I may not be with Jessica, and Franny? I reached and grabbed Jessica’s hand for comfort, and looking at her, she reddened a little but squeezed back saying not to worry.
It took around half an hour for the few hundred freshmen to settle, and quiet down. The Speaker waited patiently for us to do so though, a smile on his lips as he did. He seemed nice, actually.
“Now then, allow me to introduce myself! I am your principal Mr. Crumble, yes just like the pie.”
We all laughed a little at that, and he waited patiently for us to finish.
“How we do this at this school is relatively simple. We have our classes ranked from Amatuer to Master in temrs of basic teachings. Each ranking will hold any number of students, from Freshmen, to Senior based on what needs improved the most for them. We also separate the Basics of each class, taught through your Dungeon Worlds, by years. So Freshmen Year you are given a list of what you may choose, and from that list you may choose anywhere from 4-7 classes to be tested in and ranked. From their you will be assigned the teacher dedicated to that set of classes to help you learn what you need to, as well as help you grow as Dungeon Owners. Make no mistake thinking it is all fun and games however, we will be teaching you valuable life skills.
Resource management, Mathematics, History, Culture, Music, Business management, Financial acumen, and much more. These are introduced into your Dungeon Worlds, and a the Race you chose upon starting your adventure, including those of you who may have advanced to controlling more than one Race already. Though I am sure those of you doing this are few and far between at this time.
We encourage those who do have two Races to introduce these elements into your other Race on your own, and experiment, learn from trial and error.
This school is a unique take on education, and a pilot program that you along with the other years of special prospects of higher grades will fulfill. I hope you all enjoy your school life however! We will focus on your educations, of course, but always remember to enjoy yourselves. You are still children!”
SOme of us clapped, but a lot were confused. It was a new approach, of course everyone here had an A.I and a Race. It was one of the requirements for the school. But I suppose the majority thought that part about all classes being done through the Dungeon World was false, based on several shocked faces.
I just smiled a little, trying to stop from growing more nervous. I still had my hand in Jessica’s to keep me calm, and form running away from being surrounded by so many people. I felt claustrophobic. Franny and Jessica helped keep me calm though.
“Now then, if you would all kindly ask your A.I’s to register with the school system, we will send you your lists, and options through the watch system”
I had Leo do this, and read through a prompt that appeared.
Welcome to Dawn Light Academy Sidnie Leonholdt!
You are a Freshmen enrolling in our pilot program, we have taken note of your A.I’s personality growth and are simply amazed, we have added a few more classes to your list based upon that growth, feeling it will aid you both.

Class list.
Social Studies
World History
Culture
Art
Military History
Science
Mathematics
Agriculture
Applied Sciences
Management Basics
These are the available classes given as a Freshmen, and we will review the quick survey you will take momentarily on each subject to place you within a Rank of your chosen classes. Keep in mind, each Rank is different for all, and that while you may excel in one area, another may find themselves lacking. We encourage aiding these individuals if able.
Your available Bonus class is a single course that will be taught after Class hours by your teacher, should you choose it, based upon your A.I and DUngeon World’’s amazing level of growth.
Forging a Nation - Reserved for those showing great promise with the Dungeon Worlds and their Race.
I looked at my list, and showed Franny and Jessica.
“Pick the same amount of 5 classes and the same course to try and be in the same class?” Jessica asked, and we all nodded.
We debated between each other and settled for our five classes. Agriculture, Cultures, Science, Management Basics, and World History. We each had gotten a bonus class, the same one. Though unless we were in the same room we wouldn’t be together. I REALLY hoped we would be together.
You will always have me, Sidnie.
I smiled at Leo’s Prompt, he must have noticed I was nervous about that chance, and wanted to cheer me up some. It had worked.
We took our surveys for each class. I ranked as a Master in Management Basics, Amatuer in Agriculture, Cultures, and World History, while being an Advanced Rank in Science.
Franny had shocked everyone by being the single person to Rank Master in all courses she chose out of the few hundred Freshmen present, an announcement had been made. She blushed at us, and said she had studied a lot just in case.
Jessica had ranked Advanced in Management Basics, and Science while reaching Master in World History, and Amatuer in Agriculture and Cultures.
Then the prompt telling each student where they would be, what floor and room number, as well as their Teachers names appeared.
Congratulations on your results, Sidnie Leonholdt! You will be on the second floor, room 25. Your Teacher's name is Mr. Baxter! We hope you and Leo both will grow and show us many fascinating things about the Dungeon World System you have created, as well as furthering your educations.
~ Administration
“I’m room 25, on floor two.” Jessica said, and I smiled as widely and as much as I could. She seemed a little dazed, but was smiling with me.
We turned to Franny who looked sad. I asked her what was wrong.
“Because of my exemplary scores in each subject I am going through a special program on the third floor, room 45.”
My world shattered, I wouldn’t be with Franny? That wasn’t fair! I felt my eyes start to water and Franny poked my nose, forcing a smile.
“None of that, Sid. It’s ok, we still have Lunch period at the same time, and we have free study afterwards for an hour to further interclass mingling, and encourage social interactions. We will still see each other, I promise.”
I nodded, sadly, and hugged her very tightly. Jessica came up behind us and did the same, though for some reason she seemed to have me sandwiched between the two of them, and Franny just giggled at my squished face between her ample breasts.
“You better watch out for her while she adapts to school life Jessica! No getting distracted by things!” Franny said after breaking the hug, wagging a finger under Jessica’s nose, a weird smile on her face.
Jessica agreed quickly, smiling a little while glancing at me every few seconds.
“Let’s go Sid, we don’t wanna be late!”
Jessica grabbed my hand, and dragged me away while I yelled see you soon to Franny. At some point I felt she actually picked me up off the ground for a few seconds as we went up the stairs, and she randomly blocked the view of people staring at me for some reason. I did ask her why, she just said not to worry about it.
When we reached our class room, opening the door, we learned we were the last to arrive, and the people within our class were a few of the most interesting looking people...I stayed hidden behind Jessica a little, shy and nervous, but we went in, and waited for the Teacher to arrive..My first day of school after years finally began.
There will also be a Poll this chapter to decide what Races 3 of her 5 classmates, Jessica not included, will have. They will be between Amateur Rank, and Adept Rank. 10 options, three votes. Top three winners are chosen and will be shown a great deal, just like Jessica's undead will be now
As always, much Love and Cookies!
P.S - Finally see Sid's last name. :P Advertisement Previous
