《Uralter》Prologue

It awoke knowing one thing: danger was coming and it needed to escape. This being had no body, rather, it was a gathering of pure energy that had formed a primitive consciousness.
And its instincts told it one thing: hide.
It darted underneath the forest ground, desperately searching for an existence weak enough for it to assimilate with and hide within. The strong life force emanating from the majority of the forest creatures would easily overpower its own, then it would cease to exist any longer and be devoured by them. And the ones that it could meld with had no capability to grow so that it could protect itself in the future. This disparity was common with such wild beasts. The strong completely dominated and the weak perished.
Then, hope came.
A weak heartbeat. A dying body.
The being darted in that direction, moving at a dizzying speed. In the blink of an eye, it arrived in the bedroom of a small cottage.
A young boy laid in the bed, his chest barely moving with each pitiful breath. He couldn’t have been more than ten years old. He was incredibly bony, there seemed to barely be any sinew or fat at all on him. It was obvious from the deathly pallor of his skin and labored breathing that he was at death’s door.
If it had been anyone else, they would’ve said that this boy was hopeless.
But it could see what others couldn’t. It knew of his entire life story with just one touch.
The being did not hesitate, launching itself into his body and wiggling inside, burying itself within the depths of his soul. The boy emitted a soft, golden glow for a few moments. Any who saw it would say that he was being blessed by a God. It began to dim, rapidly disappearing as if nothing had happened. Even the child showed no signs of waking up.
But, in the silent night, his pulse grew stronger.

Greg Veder vs The World
The average person can easily understand that when it comes to living in a villain-infested, crime-filled city like Brockton Bay, treating life like a game can get you killed. Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
