《Dan's Shoppe of Oddities》Chapter 27: Why?

“Dan, I love you.”

Dan choked on the coffee he was sipping on. Honestly he never would have guessed those words would come out of her mouth. He had never even thought of her in that way.

It was not like she was an entirely unattractive woman, in fact she was a very pretty woman. It's just as she was his teacher he had never even considered her for anything more than that.

A loud splintering sound rang out, and looking over Dan found a sight that horrified him to the core. Abyzou was in her human form, her long red dress accentuated her almost ghostly white skin, and her golden eyes were ablaze with a fire that would have scared lucifer himself.

In her hands was the splintered remains of the back of a chair.

She smiled demonically.

“I’m going to kill her...” she hissed, she raised her head and stepping forward she held the splinter of wood aloft like she was about to plunge it into Sara.

“Eh? Ehhhhh?” Sara let out a strange noise as she backed away from the approaching woman. With quick motions Dan stood up knocking his chair over in the process and quickly stood in between Abby and Sara.

“Out of the way Daniel, I will kill this harlot.”

“I am not moving.” he said, he stood in front of the woman firmly.

Abyzou’s face darkened and she looked down at the ground, if you looked closely you could see her shaking ever so slightly with rage.

“Is that so?” she asked quietly.

“It is.” he said, and before she could move he stepped forward and wrapped her in a hug. His arms wrapped around her and pinned her arms to her sides. “You need more faith in me.” he laughed softly in her ears.

“Let me go Dan.” she hissed her facial features becoming a mask and she started to attempt to free herself of his hug, he linked his hands in one another, preventing her from getting free. “Let me Go Dan!” she yelled as she squirmed in his grasp like a snake.

“You are treading on dangerous ground there.” Amani said, it was like she had appeared out of thin air, as she picked up Dan’s discarded chair. Sitting in it she picked up his cup and took a sip out of it as she looked at the frightened and bewildered Sara.

“If you love me Dan let me go, I need to kill her! I need to Kill Her!” Abby yelled, her eyes growing wide and frantic as she struggled against his hug. He grunted in pain as the wounds that had just scabbed up ripped back open, but he wasn't letting go.

She would do it.

“What is going on?” Sara asked in bewilderment as she looked back between the struggling Dan and Abyzou and the calm Amani.

“You just confessed to our husband, and Abby here has some issues due to a troubling past.” Amani said softly taking another sip of his coffee. “Do you know how rude it is to tell a man that you love them without first consulting the wives?”

She looked up at Sara with large green eyes.

Sara looked back at her and her mind raced with the multitude of new information that was running through it right then. So Dan was married, she was too late.

Depression set in like a ton of bricks on her chest.

Was she to be alone forever?

But even through the blacky darkness that was her mindset two words shone in the darkness and caught her attention.

Our.

Wives.

Those two words burned brightly in the darkness, what had that woman just said?

Our husband.

Consulting the Wives.

Multiple.

Multiple?!?!

Sara looked up at the woman sitting in front of her.was she saying she was in a polygamous relationship with Dan? “Wives?” she asked she had to confirm this.

Amani nodded. “Both Abyzou and myself are Dan’s wives.”

Sara stood up, much to everyone's surprise, and turning to Dan she slapped him hard in the face. With tears in her eyes she ran out of the coffee shop leaving the three of them staring at her fleeing back in shock and confusion.

“She Slapped Dan! Let Me Go I Must Kill Her Now!” Abyzou yelled as she resumed her wriggling in his arms in an attempt to free herself.

[Sara’s house]

Her house was small but tidy.

Honestly speaking she could have afforded a much bigger house on her salary, but seeing as it was only her and her one pet she thought that would be a waist. The house itself was filled with all manners of books and novels, there were thirteen full sized bookshelves solely for them.

As for furniture in the house it was a little on the spartan side, with the exception of the bed and a couch in front of the tv you would be hard pressed to find anything at all that could be considered furniture.

She was currently sprawled out on her bed.

She was a mess, her eyes were big and puffy from crying, and there was a ridiculous amount of discarded tissues she had used to blow her nose all over the place, but she really did not care at the moment.

“Meow?” A small calico cat made a soft sound as it jumped onto the bed, it wanted to know what all the fuss was about, and now that she had stopped flailing about in anguish it had deemed it safe enough to get close to investigate.

Looking at the cat she grabbed it and , much to its displeasure, wrapped it in a tight hug. Holding the now struggling and wriggling cat in her arms she thought about what had just happened.

Dan was just as bad as Mr. Richardson. No he was worse, he was not only with multiple women at once, he had even convinced them that it was ok.

Scum.

VIle.

Vermin.

She hated him, or so she told herself.

Why?

Why had he done that? Does he not know a woman’s heart was a fragile thing?

And why, despite all of the feelings she felt, why did she still love him?
