《Dan's Shoppe of Oddities》Chapter 3: skydiving

Dan sighed as he picked up the final item off the floor.

She had been gone for over an hour, it was not like he had expected her back or anything, she obviously had a lot of catching up to do.

4,000 years when she was captured huh? That was ridiculously old, and she looked like she was barely in her early twenties. Honestly he still found it hard to believe that she was an actual genie, even with all the evidence in his face.

Had he know he would have…

He would have chosen to do the same thing. He sighed to himself, it was the sad truth, he was too nice of a guy, he had only been in three fights in his life, and all of those were to defend someone else.

As a nice guy he always got the short end of the stick. He chose to not let it bother him, he wasn't timid or anything, he could get aggressive if he wanted to, it's just he often found there was no need.

“There,” he nodded to himself, the store was once again in order, with everything in its proper place. Dan looked at the clock, it was already near noon, to late to open up today, but he could at least have the shop ready to go tomorrow.

Grabbing a broom he started to clean the floors, when for the second time today a loud rumble and a bang shook the room. Looking around he reached out to grab a porcelain doll that was currently making a tumble for the ground, but before he could reach it something hit him from behind, pushing him to the floor.

He closed his eyes as he hit the ground, and cringed internally when he heard the doll crash into the floor and shatter with a crystalline sound that range out in the silence after the bang.

Opening his eyes dan found himself in a pretty precarious situation, draped over him was none other than the genie he had just been thinking about. She looked around and then looked down at the man beneath her.

Her eyes narrowed to dangerous slits. “Where exactly do you think you have your hands?” she asked in a deep voice that sounded like the gates of hell opening up. Dan looked down and realised he had a hand placed on her plump rear.

A smile crept on his face and he gave it a slight squeeze, and much to his delight she let out a half a moan before closing her lips. “I believe my hand is placed on the plains of heaven.” he said, it wasn't his fault, he had just been sweeping, and if she wanted to place her ass in his hands who was he to tell her no and not squeeze it?

She smiled darkly and leaned in close to his face, “Is that so?” she asked, with a humorless laugh, before snapping her fingers. The world grew much colder and looking around Dan realised he was no longer on the ground in his shop, but rather hundreds of thousands of feet above it in the sky. “Since you like heaven so much, why don't I leave you there?” she asked, before snapping her fingers again and disappearing.

“Oh shit.” Dan said, before starting a free fall towards the ground.

“That ought to fix him.” she nodded to herself as she watched him plummet towards the ground with increasing speed. She knew it was her fault for landing on him, it definitely wasn't her most graceful entrance, but that gave him no right to squeeze her like that. And she was not in the best mood to begin with. “Should do,” she nodded to herself and snapped her fingers again, and instead of slamming into the roof of the shop he was brought back into the shop where he slammed into the floor with a much slower speed.

“Ufffff” he said, as the air was pushed out of him. With a sigh he flopped over and let the cool feeling of the tiles soak into his back. He sat up and looked at her. “Was that really necessary?” he growled.

“Perhaps you shouldn't be rude to me.”

“And perhaps you shouldnt be a bitch.” he growled back at her “If I do remember correctly I am the one who used my wish to set you free, and I am the one who was minding my own business until you wrecked my store for the second time today.”

She looked around the shop and particularly at the broken porcelain doll. “Sorry,” she mumbled under her breath. Her face went from one that was angry to one that was down right depressed in a heartbeat.

“It's fine,” he said, once again picking up the broom and sweeping up the remains of the doll from the floor. “So, why did you come back?” he looked over at the desk. “Your bottle is over there if that is what you want.”

She looked over at it, and in one quick movement snatched it up and smashed it against the ground. Breathing heavily she held her throwing position for an exaggerated amount of time and turned back and smiled at him.

“Actually I was wondering if I could stay with you?” she asked in a much to sweat voice.

“Stay with me? What about that whole spiel of going home and all that?”

Her face twisted up and became sad again. “My home is gone, there is nothing left of it,” she mumbled.

“You're a genie can't you just I don't know, poof a place into being?”

She shook her head ”I only have the power to grant one wish per year, I can do basic stuff, but nothing as major as that.”

“Nowhere else to go?” she shook her head. “You gonna wreck my shop again?” she once again shook her head. Dan sighed, “fine you can stay here.”

Her smile once again was like a kiss of sun light. “Thank you!” she said brightly.

Maybe having her stay with him was not such a bad thing, she was beautiful, and she was someone to talk to which was something he desperately needed right about now...
