The carved pattern flickered and began to glow white, a single word manifesting just above the tablet’s surface.
SCANNING
It remained like this for some time, long enough that she almost put the tablet down, but something in the back of her head told her to just wait. Soon enough, the buzzing sensation faded and the word faded, replaced by a statement and a question.
NO RECORD FOUND PLEASE ENTER NAME
“Alce-” the intrusive thought flashed in her head again, but before it could finish, a different name popped into her head.
“Zelsys.”
NAME ZELSYS SEX FEMALE SPECIES UNRECOGNIZED FORCE C+ PRECISION B- HARDNESS C- AETHER C TRAITS> Out of curiosity, she tried swiping her hand through the projection, as if to turn a page in a book. The projection flickered and a new one appeared, fading in from the right as if a page had been turned. TRAITS Survivor’s Instinct Fog-breathing Osmotic Essentia Absorption Metabolic Alkahest A swipe to the left took her back to the first projection, while another swipe to the left showed a third projection. FOG STORAGE PUT INTO STORAGE BROWSE STORAGE ATTRIBUTES> TRAITS>> “Some sort of arcane utility device,” she thought, tapping on PUT INTO STORAGE. The projection was seemingly blown away by a vortex of silvery fog that rose from the tablet, as wide as the tablet was tall. Zelsys took one of the unloaded shells and dropped it in, watching it vanish into the vortex. A few seconds passed with nothing happening, before the vortex abruptly dissipated. The storage menu projection returned, the same as it had been. She tapped on BROWSE STORAGE, and sure enough, the projection flickered to change into a different one - a label at the top, and a single blue line in the very center of the tablet. FOG STORAGE 1x Shell Casing A tap on Shell Casing. The options Retrieve/Cancel popped up next to it, and upon pressing Retrieve the vortex returned, the casing slowly rising out of it and then clattering onto the tablet. Arcane as the device was, its operation was rather simple. One after another she took the empty casings, activating the PUT INTO STORAGE once again and dropping them into the vortex one after another. She put the powder horn and two of the five loaded shells into storage as well, and then took to learning how the gun operated. It was attached to an armored sleeve, one which fit easily with some adjustment of the straps, and seemed to somehow suction itself to the skin once attached, barely shifting around at all as she maneuvered her left arm to try and get a feel for how it limited mobility. A metal lever that was attached to the back of the gun sat just about in her palm, though it wouldn’t budge. “Some elbow stiffness, lots of extra weight on the forearm…” she muttered, carefully working what she knew to be the bolt handle. With a swift backwards yank and a loud mechanical clack the bolt popped open, the lever’s grip moving to below her wrist alongside it.Advertisement

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.

Halfway to Home
Sam is stuck. The Nalitokk have collected a variety of races, aliens of all colors, shapes, and forms. Of those, humans are hardly the most unusual. In fact, ever since waking up in their clutches, Sam has been working hard to make sure humans appear entirely unremarkable. Years have whiled away as the inquisitive aliens have come to regard their newest test subject as defective. Damaged. Little more than a pet. As much as it hurts, Sam knows it's the only way to keep surviving - for the time being. But times are changing, and Sam can’t live under the Nalitokk’s radar forever. When things come to a head, Sam has to make some hard decisions about how to break free of their grasp. Decisions which change everything - from the Nalitokk’s view on humans, all the way down to Sam’s humanity itself. With the Nalitokk hot in pursuit, Sam breaks free with one singular goal - home.

The Labyrinth of Dreams
Currently aiming for releases around the 14th and 28th of each month. How do you deal with waking up every night for almost a year because of a nightmare? I guess it doesn’t matter because I am certain my particular nightmare isn’t a normal one. My Uncle even tried to use magic to guard my dreams and prevent the nightmares, but nothing is working. With my 21st birthday coming up, I honestly hope I can get a good night’s sleep. Yet, I can’t help but wonder why Labyrinthia, goddess of Dreams, insists on tormenting me so. Not only that, but mom and dad have been on edge ever since uncle returned from his latest travels. I hope everything is OK out there. Surely, my recurring nightmare isn’t a bad omen or anything, right?
