This was my last mission. The chance of me surviving this was zero. A fifteen meter long centipede chased behind me. After spending five days searching for the six pedal goldflower, this was going to be my end.
Even after reaching the fifth stage of dao formation, I couldn’t run faster than this insect.
I leapt from branch to branch across the canopy of the White Dragon Forest. I channeled the Qi to make me move faster. I felt the Qi inherent to the world shift and propel me forward, but it still wasn’t faster than the monstrosity behind me. The centipede was about to close its pincers over me.
My sect was falling apart. No. It had already fallen apart. In this dog eat dog world, I was to die in a remote part of a hellish forest, along with the last remains of my sect.
“Ah shit fuck!” I heard somebody shout a pair of vulgar words. In my resignation to death, that pair of words brought me back. Maybe this person could save me! My desire to survive reignited. I could hope!
All my hopes and dreams came rushing back at the same time. Hopes and dreams of rebuilding my sect. Hopes and dreams of breaking through into the sixth stage. I found the power to dodge out of the way.
I slammed into the side of a tree branch, hitting the back of my head and bouncing off. Closing my eyes, I fell into the dark depths of the forest.

I slowly worked to make the old nest my new garden. After a week of work, the old dung-filled space turned into a vibrant garden.
Forty thousand mana had been spent on creating this plant stronghold. I had many powerful systems in place in order to ensure my safety.

I’d say my ultimate stroke of genius was my battle room. I had taken my rock-on-stomach alarm setup and turned it into something truly amazing.
It was a table with a hundred tiles embedded into it. Each tile represented a different area around my stronghold. If any of the tiles shook, that meant something was moving in that area. I planted Explosive Bulbs coated in even more Poison Spikes in those places.
In other news, I got a comfortable bed.

I studied my garden, which had expanded to take up the entire nest. This garden could tear any animal I had seen so far to shreds. I could expand and improve it, but what would be the point?
I was trying to weave a decent blanket out of string when I heard a tapping noise from the battle room. The rock tiles in there made little tapping sounds when they moved. They only moved when something was in my territory.
It was actually pretty normal for something to be wandering through my territory. I would be fine with it as long as it didn’t get into my garden, so I usually ignored the tapping sounds. But this time, the tapping was going many times faster than normal. Something extremely powerful was moving through my territory.
I ran into the battle room and examined the tiles. One tile would go down, and then it would spring back up again and the one next to it would go down. I determined the direction it was in and moved to find what was going on.

I hopped outside and dropped two seeds to the ground. One turned into a Twentytacle Trap, the other became a Protect attached to the top of the trap. It acted as a makeshift carriage. The Protect was my seat while the tentacles were my legs. I jumped in the Twentytacle Trap tentacles launched us forward. A vine held me down as we sped up.
Seconds later, I saw a gigantic centipede chasing a young lady. A human young lady. Moving faster than race cars, the girl must’ve been some kind of superhuman. But being superhuman didn’t save her against a fifteen meter centipede. The creature was longer and thicker than a school bus. Two seconds away from being eaten, I didn’t have time to save her.
The first human I meet, and she would die right before my eyes? “Ah shit fuck!” I scrambled to get one of my vines to save her.
Somehow, she twisted out the centipede’s way at the last second. She bounced off a branch and fell. The way she ran into the branch didn’t look so good. A normal person wouldn’t have survived. I looked down. It was a long drop, like jumping off a skyscraper.
In a rush, I leaped out of the carriage and commanded it to catch her. It dropped me on a leaf and skittered through the branches, letting her fall into the Protect. I clenched my teeth. The way I caught her didn’t look so good either.
The centipede charged at me. I narrowed my eyes, throwing three seeds at it. The first turned into a Twentytacle Trap, and the other two became Poison Spikes. The spikes attached to the ends of two tentacles.
Spinning through the air, the trap wrapped around the centipede and the spikes stabbed into its eyes. The centipede fell to the forest floor jerking and spasming. I didn’t feel bad about killing bugs.
The carriage crawled back to me, and I checked the pit. She was still panting from the running. She looked unharmed despite everything. I breathed a sigh of relief.
I brought the girl into my bedroom and placed her on the makeshift bed. It was a box filled with Fluffpile fluff, with a bearish skin hide as a blanket. It was actually very comfortable. I lie her on the bed carefully.
She opened her eyes right after I set her down.

Tale of Tales
* Tale of Tales is a High/Epic Fantasy saga based on the motifs of ancient myths, legends, and forgotten fairytales * Senka is no hero, but you never know what is coming for you. And if that burns down your house and family, while you are left blinded by your house’s guardian snake, the outlook becomes grim. So Senka clings to her dog’s back to survive, unaware of the fateful prophecy and the great changes to come. But when a wandering warrior becomes her protector and mysterious strangers join their hounded party through a series of seemingly chance encounters, they all begin to discover that all is not as it seems. What is pursuing her? And why? Can the strange characters gathering around her on her desperate quest save her from doom? Are they mere puppets of a young, beguiling witch guided by her own hidden motives, or are forgotten shadows rising again from the immeasurable depths of time? A tale of folk fairytales and myths, of swords and sorcery and mythical beings – a unique story of dark times and unsung heroes who may light your way. Book one, A Strange Bunch, features leading characters of various ages. This is a fantasy with their progression happening slowly throughout the series, with occasional spikes in character power after certain encounters that may or may not be random. Although the book series is written with adult and young adult audiences in mind, it is, in the tradition of such epics as “The Lord of the Rings,” suitable for all ages. Excerpt from the scene depicted on the cover of the first book: “Above this hellish pack and the rider at the forefront, flurried a ghastly sight – a cloud of dark, endlessly bustling bodies and wings, a swarm of creatures that, through their almost infinite number, produced that great din which had first reached the ears…” RELEASE SCHEDULE is about once a week. The entire series should take around two and a half years of weekly chapter episodes, so do encourage me by reacting and following. Ratings are greatly appreciated!
