Chapter 15.1: The Rewards of a Pioneer

It was a few minutes before dawn on Sunday when Scott opened his eyes. They had hunted and scoured the area throughout the night. Once the copper was ready they had started to move it to Earth. It was a process that would take some time as he was well rested now. It was unlikely that he would be able to return to sleep for a while.

They had managed to bring one load of copper over, and soon there would be another. Each of the pipes was thicker and heavier than he had suspected that they would be, so he looked forward to their sale. He would probably earn a tidy sum from the sale.

The dragon lifted his hind leg then gently scratched himself under the chin like a dog. “Man that feels better.”

He wandered off to take care of early morning business in the bathroom then headed toward his kitchen. He stood next to his pile of copper pipes for a moment then grinned. That pile would soon be much bigger.

Scott nearly called for Sonja but something truly interesting occurred. A blue screen encased in crystal appeared before him!

Scott’s eyes widened then his mouth spread into an almost feral grin. Doing a lot of things first meant that you earned a lot of rewards! The money and tickets were nice, but the gold tokens were the most important. Without them he would not be able to continue to train in the other world. He was fairly certain that there were probably a lot of people who had no tokens at all at this point. They would be blocked from further development until whatever happened to Earth, happened.

He went to retrieve his laundry hamper then brought it back and set it down under the crystal-clad screen. After he clicked on the acceptance button, like last time, money and various items appeared in the air below the screen then fell into the hamper.

Scott crowed with excitement then began to pull everything out to view it. The tokens would be used for training in the other world, and the skill tickets would give him skill points. What about the experience tickets and reallocation tickets?

He picked up an experience ticket and looked it over. There was nothing obvious about it that would tell him what it did, and he did not want to tear it and risk the loss of something good. He set it aside and checked the reallocation tickets.

The dragon grinned. These items had information printed on them. He read through what was provided then his eyes widened. “A one hour time limit? What kind of crap was that?”

Scott tore the ticket to claim its power and a screen appeared before him. He read the information carefully

Reallocation tickets are special rewards granted to people who have shown great initiative. The Earth is undergoing considerable changes. However, the skills learned in the medieval themed training world may not be completely proper to use in a world-setting similar to your current world.

We have worked tirelessly to recreate classic skills with a modern capacity. As such, a reallocation ticket will allow you to upgrade a current skill and switch it out with the Earth equivalent. You will also be able to train that skill on Earth.

Currently, only a small number of production and magic skills are available. More will be available during the first reallocation period, but only a reallocation ticket will allow you to change your skills prior to that point in time or at a point after that time. Some skills will have different names after reallocation.

Current Skills available for reallocation:

Alchemy --> Mystic Chemistry

Dark Magic --> Dark Magic

Ring Mastery --> Vitality Storage

Scott picked dark magic with no hesitation. He tore open his other reallocation ticket then saw that only alchemy and ring mastery remained. Vitality storage did not seem as important right now since he could generate mana. Though, he would certainly like to use that ability in the future. He chose to reallocate alchemy.

He checked his skill list then nodded. He had kept his skill levels, despite the change. “So, I should be able to train those skills on Earth now... I’ll give it a try soon.”

Scott wanted to summon Sonja before he made an attempt to train. He called out to her and his beautiful Valkyrie friend appeared. She brought with her several sacks of copper pipes.

“Hi!” she called out cheerfully. She had worked through most of her emotional turmoil while hunting during the last few days, and she was happy to be back to work.

“Hi!” said Scott with similar enthusiasm. He helped her with her bags then grinned.

“What’s going on?” she asked. He only seemed to grin like that when something good had happened.

“I just received a few bonus rewards from whoever set up this whole world changing thing.” said Scott.

“Oh, that was nice! What did you get?” she asked.

A toothsome smile spread across his face, and then he placed his draconic paws together and rubbed them lightly back and forth. “Good things, so very many good things...”

Sonja drew back from him a little. Her action was not based on fear, however. He looked like such an adorable little evil mastermind that she wanted to hug the stuffing out of him.
