《I Think My Familiar is a DemonLord》Chapter 9: Really good at Remembering

Leon’s eyes slowly opened.
He honestly felt like shit, his head was pounding almost like someone was beating on it like a drum. Looking around he realised where he was. He was once again in her bed, and feeling something warm and soft pressing down against his chest lifting his head up he was able to see Lira, who had apparently fallen asleep and was currently resting her head on the right side of his chest. With a smile he reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair that had fallen across her face back behind her ear.
She really was a good girl, a good girl in a bad situation.
That however was life, it was not fair in the slightest.
So you also had to be unfair or life would get the better of you.
This was the true nature of the world.
Leon looked out the window and it would appear it was either early morning or late evening as he could not tell if the sun was rising or setting.
He looked down at Lira’s sleeping face, considering her. For a split second she once again looked like she had horns, like that other Lira.
“You don't even know who she is...” The voice echoed in his mind.
“That's ok, I don't even know who I am so what difference does it make?” he chuckled to himself, though after these dreams he had to say he was curious, to say the least, about who he was and who she was.
It was not as simple as he had first believed.
A roster called out the morning song, and Lira stirred, ah so it was morning.
Lifting her head up she realized where she had placed her head to sleep, and with slightly frightened eyes she turned towards Leon.
“Good Morning, Lira” he smiled pleasantly, her cheeks dyed a bright red and she turned away from him, unable to even look in his direction. “Thank you.” he said, smiling all the more when he saw her reaction.

“For what?” she mumbled softly.
“For taking care of me” he answered.
“You are my familiar, of course I will take care of you...” she mumbled into her silver hair, which she was currently using the bottom of to obscure the lower part of her mouth.
“So, what are the plans today?”
“We will be staying here, I will have to opt out of the hunt, but you need time to recover.”
“Time to recover, ha, there is no need for that.” he said, sitting up in the bed he pulled off the covers.
“No, Wait!” she screamed, before half covering her eyes as he stood up out of bed. Looking down he found himself to be stark naked, where had his clothes gone? And who had taken them off of him?
She blushed even deeper and started to explain. “You had fallen unconscious and were burning up and sweating, and I needed to wipe you down and and-” she rambled on and on in a single breath.
He smiled and leaned in a little closer to her, prying apart a few of her fingers to get a good look at one of her golden eyes. “And did you like it?” he asked, a smile playing on his lips. Before this moment if anyone had told him she was capable of blushing more than he doubted he would have believed them, but to his surprise she did indeed turn redder. Laughing he withdrew his face. “So, where are my clothes now?” he asked.
“On the top of the dresser.” she was able to squeeze out, as she hid her eyes behind her fingers again, Leon however could feel her gaze as she glanced at him covertly.
After getting dressed they both started packing her items that they would need for the upcoming hunt.
[Front gate of Grulik school]
There were four carriages in all that were lined up at the main gate of the school. They were ornate creations, being built from a dark black wood with red and gold furnishings they had been polished to a mirrored sheen.

They were the type of carriages that only nobles would ever feel fit riding in. Leon had never liked carriages, why he did not know, or perhaps the reason was really locked in this head of his behind whatever was holding him out…
Whatever it was it lead to an instant dislike of the four carriages in front of him.
“I am sorry, but we had thought you were not coming, so we did not make adequate preparations for you to travel with us.” The teacher Leon called the waffle eating bitch said, her actual name was Mrs. Illuni, but at this moment Lira also wanted to call her a bitch.
Ever since she had gotten here this had been one of her constant tormentors. She was in fact her aunt, not that Mrs. Illuni would ever allow anyone to know this. She saw Lira as a stain on the honor of her family’s house.
And now she was being like this.
It was not like it would take long to get another carriage, at most it would take ten minutes, and even worse than that there was room for two more people in one of the carriages, they however claimed they had no room.
“We have however provided you with a horse, I hope it is not to much of an inconvenience?” she said, and a group of girls giggled. A servant brought out a horse, it looked like a good horse, but Lira blanched at the sight of it.
“What is wrong?” Leon asked, honestly this not being able to understand anyone but Lira was a blessing and a curse to him. On one hand he didn't have to put up with all the crap that others threw his way, which meant he had less people to kill, but there were other times where needing to know what was going on was crucial to understanding the situation, he did not much care for this informational disadvantage he had.
“They say there is no room, and we will have to ride a horse.” she said numbly.
“And that is an issue how?”
“I don't know how to ride a horse and they know it, it is to ridicule me.” she said softly, the girls laughed ans shut the door of the carriage, there muffled laughter could still be heard inside.
“When I first showed up here I made a friend, the first one I had ever had in my life, she treated me so nicely, we talked and talked for days, weeks, even months.” Lira turned her back to the carriages and kept speaking like if she was unable to get it out now it would never be said again. “I- I told her everything, how I was treated, what I did and didn’t know.”
Leon nodded listening to her story.
“But it was all a lie, she never was my friend, because after I had told her all of my life and secrets she left me, and those secrets became public knowledge.” a single tear slid down her face, and leon with a hand brushed it away. “ I wasn't taught to ride a horse you see, as that is only for people of proper birth, and I am a bastard child, an unwanted half breed.”
Leon looked at the horse and smiled, so they wanted to use all this to ridicule them huh? Well he would just have to turn these flaws of hers into weapons no one would ever expect, and he now knew where to start.
“Would you like me to teach you how to ride?” he asked with a bright smile.
Go ahead and laugh, laugh all you want, just remember that you are laughing at your future rulers. He softly chuckled to himself as he inscribed each of their faces into his memory. He would not forget this.
He had a really good memory...
