--------------------------------------
At Old Man Zhu’s exclamation, Zhen Ji rushed at Fang Hao. He raised his sword slashing downwards diagonally at him, who used the brute power of his body and smashed the sword aside, closing in the gap. The impact of the club had jarred Zhen Ji for the moment, giving Fang Hao an opening. He had clenched his left fist, twisted his waist and punched with full force at Zhen Ji’s right armpit, while he was still jarred from the previous impact.
From what he remembered from his street fighting and brawling days, the arm pit contained a nerve center. It was a vulnerable area, which when hit, would cause one to be jolted and shocked for a couple of moments at least. If one was in a life and death match, it would make more sense to aim for the opponent’s throat, neck, crotch and eyes among a few other critical vulnerabilities.
However, Fang Hao knew not to go overbroad. This match was being recorded. Also the rules prohibited permanent crippling and killing anyways. He chose the most efficient non-lethal blow to temporarily incapacitate Zhen Ji, and quickly finish this match. The tournament format had consecutive matches with little or no rest, so it was important to save stamina as well.

As his fist collided with Zhen Ji’s armpit at full force, he felt a dull ache in his hand and he could hair the faint metallic clink. Zhen Ji was wearing some sort of armor underneath his robes! Indeed, the rules forbade weapons not provided by the sect, but no such restrictions were there in place for armor. Not only was Zhen Ji doped upto the 6th layer of Qi gathering, he was also wearing what Fang Hao assumed to be mortal chainmail. Although the armor blocked majority of the impact, some shock was still transmitted. This incapacitated him for a flash. Fang Hao exploited this opening, despite being surprised at the unexpected presence of armor, and kicked his ankles, tripping him.
He gave Zhen Ji no opening and sat on his prone figure with his fat ass, pinning his arms with a lock. Having successfully subdued him, he dropped his club and used his free hand to slap Zhen Ji repeatedly. He was irritated at this spoilt brat. Having never offended him, this brat decided to bully him and was even sneaky enough to wear armor! If he hadn’t practiced Divine Vajra Body Scripture, his previous armpit punch would have at least dislocated some bones in his hand.
After a flurry of slaps, which caused Zhen Ji’s face to resemble that of a beetroot, Fang Hao finally calmed himself. He then glared viciously at Zhen Ji and said, “Admit defeat, or I will keep on slapping you!” Zhen Ji was furious and his heart was unwilling. Despite the help he received from his brother, along with the idea to wear mortal chainmail under his clothes…he still lost to the damnable fatty.
When he had pleaded his brother to help him earlier, he was instead rebuked by him for insulting someone who was elder to him, and had a higher cultivation in public. Still, in order to help his baby brother vent, and clear his heart, he suggested him to use his own power to make an example of the fatty who received the benefits first. Thus Zhen Ji with the advice and resources of his brother had planned this match to be an unshakeable victory.

With a face full of regret and bruises, he exclaimed “I admit defeat!” but his thoughts didn’t accept the outcome. ‘Damn it, how can this fatty be stronger than me? I am two whole layers above him. He must have cheated collaborating with Old Man Zhu!’ Old Man Zhi waved his arms, fatty Hao and Zhen Ji were flown off the fighting stage. Fatty Hao landed gently, whereas his opponent crashed headfirst into the grass, as if he was tossed with disdain.
“Fatty Hao wins the match, and will proceed to the next round. Next fight is No. 2 vs No. 31” Old Man Zhu said as two other contestants whizzed to the stage and began their match. Fang Hao stopped paying attention to the match as he saw that both the fighters were at 3rd layer of Qi gathering and had no trace of technique in their moves, using wooden swords to slash and jab at each other.
‘Why are swords so popular? A wooden stick is of more utility than a wooden sword, considering our weapon skills. Guess they want to be sword immortals.’ thought Fang Hao as he made his way to his clique. He was immediately showered with praise from the fatties. He couldn’t help but be a bit pleased at this attention. However, he kept in mind that in the grand scheme of things…this was just a minor encounter. Still Zhen Ji was his first stepping stone.
He then focused on the other fights, and most didn’t catch his eye being at or under the 4th layer. However, there was one stocky teenager with a swarthy face. His weapon of choice was surprisingly, a spear. His cultivation was at the 5th layer, and his body seemed sturdier than the rest. He fought conservatively, maintaining his distance and jabbing with his spear. ‘He will be troublesome opponent. What a fucking turtle! He can clearly take risks and finish battles quicker, but instead opts to tire out his opponents and conserve his own stamina. Those moves he is using are clearly some mortal spear techniques. He will be my only true opponent, at least at this stage.’ thought Fang Hao as he observed the matches.
His initial cultivation of the Divine Vajra Body Scripture clearly had many advantages, which he noticed during the fight. He his strikes were stronger, his reactions quicker, his rate of stamina recovery was higher, and he could take a more thorough beating! Although he wasn’t planning to take beatings, it was still good to be sturdy. ‘Just wait till this daddy levels up and learn spells. While all the other n00bs are glass canons, vulnerable when with depleted Qi, this daddy can still beat the shit out of them with his mountain like physique! OK, it won’t be so effortless if I meet a fellow body cultivator…but still!’
