《Tower of Babel: Speedrunner》An Update

If you don't give a damn about me/my woes/my other fictions, chapter four of The White Knight will be up... uh, now. So just push the back button and read it. Then come back if you want. Or don't. I'm chill like that. Further chapters will be updated daily at 9:00 am EST going forward. I have a several chapter backlog that I'm editing and scheduling in with the handy dandy 'schedule your fiction' thing, so there should not be any substantive interruptions.
That all said, I'll start with an apology, which... yeah. Going on four years since the second book in the series, I've grown to fully empathize with George R.R. Martin over time. Once you stop working on something, it becomes very hard to actually come back to it, at least for me. And with all my fun and exciting, uh... I'm going to go with 'mental health issues' it can become difficult to do the right thing, even if it is staring you right in the face.
I sat back down to finish the third book several months ago, it went well, then I lost a job I enjoyed very much and suddenly I didn't want to do anything. I stopped talking to friends and family, stopped leaving the house, most definitely stopped working. I'm lucky to have a partner in life who takes the worst of my behavior in stride, and newly medicated I'm back to finish what I've started, in more ways than one.
Which brings me to scheduling.
You may have (almost certainly did not) notice that I have two new fictions posted. While this seems insane given that I haven't even finished the stuff I'm working on, part of my problem is that I don't finish the stuff I'm working on. I have, and I'm not even joking about this, roughly ~500,000 words of fiction in various unfinished states on my PC. So I've decided that I'm going to start posting some of what I've worked on in the last four years on a regular schedule, both to keep my honest, and because gosh darnit I like some of this stuff.

The good news is that none of this will delay the story you're currently looking at. TWK is my daily project until it is finished (which thank god is at a grand total of ~6 chapters remaining). The others are all in various states of completion, but each has ~15-20 chapters (so most of a book) already written out. I've decided to publish these on a slower schedule in order to give me breathing room to add to them, while allowing me to still get in my chapter a day for the project I'm focusing on.
So what does this mean for you the reader?
My current schedule of works is as follows:
The White Knight - Publishes daily at 9:00am EST. This will continue until the book is done. After that I will reassess and it will continue either daily or every second day.
Blue Hills - Every Thurs/Sun at 6:00 EST
Relic - Weekly (Tues) at 6:00 EST
Points of Light - Bi-Daily. Duo-Daily? Bi-daily doesn't feel right, but I'm going with it. 6:00 EST (Are you sensing a pattern)
Lastly, and somewhat tangential to all of the above, I now have a Patreon. Or, I guess I will. I have to wait for it to approve. When it does, It will have a number of advance chapters for all of the above works. I'll include the link in the doobly-do of most chapters with a thank you, but this'll be the last time I draw attention to it. If you can afford it, it helps (I've been unemployed for three months and the Canadian EI system is a dink), but if you can't afford it send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.

The Demon Lord's Lover
Julius Goldforge knows how the world works. He knows his role. Really, it's destiny by this point. The mentor dies, the hero gains motivation, and the demon lord falls to their blade. Except...something's clearly gone wrong here. Written by Redknight3996 and Indismile, The Demon Lord's Lover is a fantasy comedy/romance featuring a jaded, middle-aged adventurer who's damn sure he's going to die on this new journey with his students and the ambitious Empress of the Dark Lands, whose drive to conquer the entire world winds up putting both him and her on a bizarre course of attraction and impulsive decision making. Includes (but is not limited to): action, adventure, big fights, elemental-themed temples, demons, angels, fumbling romance, competence, incompetence, nudist druids, the crimes of the past influencing the current age in myriad ways, interpersonal issues, fatalism, and being a decent uncle to one's adoptive family. Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. On Venus and Mars [Vol. 1]
"Most people say their first words when they're one or two years old. The grown-ups would get all excited and they'd tell stories about that day years later. But I said my first word at twelve years old and there was only one person there to hear it. This is the story of us." - EllieCover Artist: @CBMokediFellow Editor: @KylieTraskTW: Harsh language.
