《Cloud Dungeon》Chapter 20

Crunch!

“No!” Dia shouted sobbing as she watched the child sized Seafolk she made being eaten by a monstrous man shark beast with feather like scales.

After the battle of the birds, Waid did not give up and they decided to make water based monsters. Waid created a Sky Sharkman monster, changing the back fins into leg fins that can help support it on land and the front fins gained claw like fingers. It was hunched over and its dorsal fin was black like iron and sharp like a sword.

Dia on the other hand, took one of the sword flying fish from the 3rd floor boss swarm and then merged it with a water fairy as the base making a Blade Wing Seafolk. Seafolk are a humanoid spirit with fish characteristics. They are smart and strong.

The seafolk had a human form with blue-green feather scales while its fairy wings had turned into two long flying fish blade wings. Its hands were webbed and it had a fishtail coming from near its butt. Finally, the feet were larger and webbed while her ears were like fish fins.

Sadly, the shark was superior in speed in water even if she was a spirit of water. The power of the sky shark was already very dominate and adding the improvements caused it to gain wind and water magic allowing these sky sharkmen to rocket through the water.

Even so, in the entire island, only the red bus lobster can out swim and dominate any of the cloud sea monsters, especially this sky sharkman. Even more so now that the fifth floor was already forming. A while ago, Dia had made the fourth floor boss. She went with an idea of a witch like the old one from the story of Snow White which was a hunched old hag who gave the apple which poisoned Snow White into an eternal sleep. She uses sleeping magic as her primary combat style and she was made from a very naughty fairy which had appeared and caused some damage to Dia’s garden when she was playing.

Playing along with the idea of Snow White, Dia called seven strong greater dwarves, all brothers, to keep the witch in check so that she doesn’t cause problem for the floor and keeps her on the main island while protecting the fairies here. To keep them from falling to the witch, Dia gave them a small change which made them immune to her magic, just her magic, so they can still sleep normally and fall asleep to other people’s magic.

For the fifth floor, all it really lacked was a small bit of growth and a boss.

“Ahahaha! I win, you can’t make your fish thing anymore!” Waid laughed.

“Hmph, who said.” Dia crossed her arms.

“That was the deal.” Waid said.

“No it wasn’t.” Misty grinned, “The deal was that if Dia wins, your monsters can’t be made anymore. However if you win, we won’t stop you from spreading them but keep our race, after all this is Dia’s dungeon.” Misty said smiling.

“Cheater!” Waid shouted.

“They aren’t, you just never noticed that point.” Mir said while walking over and looking at the shark. “Get out of here.” She said.

The shark lowered its head and dragged itself off the main island of the fifth floor and went swimming. Dia called several fairies and slowly fed them mana and made boys and girls of the blade wing seafolk. These were one of the few aggressive, but still ‘pretty’ monsters Dia made and she liked them because they were indeed cute. The seafolk were already taller than her and were very cute looking like sea elves with shark like teeth, but were gentle towards her.

“Now what? This is fun so let's keep playing?” Waid asked.

“Hmph, no!” Dia said.

“Why not?” He asked.

Dia pointed towards the center of the island, “I need to make the boss so that I can finally get my sixth floor and make my next type of dungeon.” Dia said and smiled as her eyes shined thinking of what she will be able to make and which kind of wonderland she should make.

“So what kind of strange boss will you make?” He asked.

Indeed looking at the bosses, especially the wolf on floor 2, they were all unique and filled with many ideas which requires a lot of thought to reproduce.

“So what kind of boss will it be?” Waid asked curious. To make so many bosses is a curious ability.

“Hey Mir! Misty! Can I change the stairway between each theme?” Dia asked.

“I believe there was a notice that said you couldn’t, right?” Mir said.

Misty nodded, but began to blink blankly.

Cloud Dungeon Update

Due the being the only cloud dungeon, the spirit goddess updated the stairs system. Now each theme will have its own stairway and between each theme there is a unique method to go up.

“Okay, that is cheating.” Misty said frowning.

“Hehehe!” Dia giggled. “Now I can do what I want!” She cheered. “Mir, how do I make an elf?” Dia asked.

“An elf like spirit or elves like the ones outside of the dungeon?” She asked.

“It can be a spirit since it will be in the dungeon anyway.” She said.

“In that case, you need any spirit beside wisps, at least 10 of them.” She said.

With a nod, Dia closed her eyes and soon enough the air began to spin and ten sylphs appeared.

They giggled and waved.

“I want a playful boy to be the base.” She said.

All the sylphs that appeared were boys and were were playful, so very quickly they were squeaking and arguing just like how the gnomes did when the runt was made to control the big bad wolf.

After a big and windy fight, one was victorious standing upon the fallen sylphs, but they were just playing dead and with Dia and the others laughing they got up and the winner bowed.

They all went back to the pond and Dia touched both the sylph that was going to be the base and the liquid mana.

In the dark view, her vision of the ten merging came and the sylph turned into a very big sylph, but she quickly stopped it and compressed all the wind to make all his body solid. His ears turned pointed like an elf, his hair short and chestnut brown, his facial features were girly cute, but still looked like a boy and he appeared to be in his teens. Suddenly she made wind gather and form a long but loose pointy hat, a green tunic and pants and finishing with brown leather boots.

Even though the clothing was simple, the cloth was strong.

You have created a new variation of wind elves. Affinity balanced towards wind. Due to the intent of a wandering elf spirit, this elf is known as the Wandering Wind Elf.

Wandering Wind Elf

A unique spirit born from a young dungeon. Born from the imagination of the young dungeon, this spirit is said to exist in a mysterious land where lost children appear. They are caring and playful even when fighting. They can freely fly as long as they are accompanied by a companion fairy.

“Your name is Peter Pan!” Dia said.

“Thank you!” He said and jumped up and suddenly flipped in the air and remained stationary for a moment before he floated down. He blinked as he jumped trying to fly and suddenly ran off.

“Seems he went to find a fairy friend.” Dia said.

“Considering he is made from a group of sylphs, why can’t he fly?” Mir asked.

Dia took the time to explain the story of Neverland which is what was inspiring her at this time. By the time he returned, flying, he was accompanied by a glittering shine and behind him a small palm sized fairy in a green dress.

When identified it was a Tinker Fairy and Dia was laughing all the while as the fairy spun around her coating her in the sparkling fairy dust.

Dia also discovered that there was a new tree being born and the space around it was starting to warp, but at the center was an open space where a fountain of fairy dust was gathering. This seemed to almost be attached to the tinker fairy since Dia could feel a connection.

“So how are you going to make the boss?” Mir asked.

“I will make Captain Hook and Peter will be the one to protect the floor from him keeping him in check.” She said.

“Wait, will you use an entire crew of this new elf?” Mir asked shocked.

“Yep! The captain will be the same as Peter and over time he will make a crew himself, but I will make him a flying boat that is linked to him so when he dies the boat will go with him. Then I will make it so that the boat drops one of the lifeboats when the captain is beaten which works like the red bus lobsters for the adventurers who want to reach the sixth later on, letting them bypass the first five floors.” Dia said.

“That's…” Mir froze and thought, “... actually well thought out. If you can’t defeat the boss, you can’t gain the key to the next theme of the dungeon.” Mir agreed.

“Isn’t it!” She said.

“How boring, a large boat will make the boss stronger than this scrawny elf. How will he even control the crew from taking over the floor?” Waid asked.

“Of course any crew of the captain will not be able to get a companion tinker fairy, so they can only be flightless pirates.” She said.

“Still… a pirate ship has cannons… there isn’t anything else that can defend against this and one guy can’t really protect an entire floor.” Waid said.

“So what?!” Dia pouted.

“By making that boat he will definitely be a roaming boss that isn’t easy to keep in one place. Of course these guys aren’t a threat towards the runts and fairies that appeared on the fifth floor, the true challenge is for this Peter guy.” He pointed to the tights wearing floating elf. “For him to keep a pirate crew and a powerful pirate ship from causing trouble is really hard.”

“What do you want?” Dia asked.

“Let me make some monsters that like to attack his ship.” He asked with a grin.

Dia frowned, but before she said anything Misty came next to her ear and whispered. Dia froze for a moment and looked at the catgirl fairy before nodding, “What do you want to make?” Dia asked.

“A really big shark!” He grinned like a cat.

“NO!” Dia shouted. “No shark!” She said.

Waid crossed his arm then looked up. What he saw was the huge balloon jellyfish that have grown to be almost parachute sized with 5 meters of diameter. Their interior was filled with hot air to allow them to float around and survive in the cold clouds.

“What about something made from those things.” Waid said pointing up. “Like a big octopus.” Waid said bored.

“Huh.” Dia looked up, “Wouldn’t that make a kraken?” She asked.

Dia, through her mother and father, knew an incredible amount of myth and folklore. To know about the kraken obviously came from this source as well.

“Oh the kraken! Big monster octopus! That sounds awesome!” He said with shining eyes. “I can even make it that they naturally hate boats! Then it could make an obstacle for future sailors!” He said grinning.

Mir laughed at his ideas, “Don’t make them big then. Just change the jellyfish to octopuses and keep that size then or else it would cause too much trouble to have a massive creature like that so early on.” Mir said.

“But Mir!” Dia said.

“Now now! You need to set up something like this as well. The first floor is so big that the bridges are almost a kilometer long. Soon those land bridges will separate and the islands will drift off. We can’t let the waters be with so few challenges.” she said.

“Okay, I understand.” Dia said pouting, but agreeing.

Like that they ended the talk and first went to make the monster.

The first thing to do was spawn a single wandering wind elf which came out looking different from Peter, but of course it would, no two creatures that are sentient will look exactly the same.

Taking the hand of the wind elf, she began to change him into a boss only after spawning a small wooden boat with a single small sail. In her view she saw the wind elf growing older, but stopping at a look similar to 25. In addition, his hair grew long and curly while a long french styled mustache grew out. The right hand then vanished and was covered by a metal hook and the green clothing turned into simple pirate clothing; baggy pants and a striped shirt, though he also had a captain's coat and hat.

In her mind she suddenly included the boat and it appeared beside the captain. Slowly mana filled it and the boat grew in size, making a small cabin while the mast grew and a pirate flag appeared on it. When it was done, there was a single bedroom with a table and a map of the floor and wind charts that were magically made for the dungeon.

Done she opened her eyes and saw the changes and when she looked, she tried to look mad, but the man kneeled and grasped her hand, “I thank you young miss for allowing me the honor of protecting you. I shall honor my position and grow to protect everything that is you.” He said.

“Hey old man, get away from the young miss!” Peter suddenly flew in front of her, but the captain looked at him with a sneer and stood up looking down at him. “Boy, don’t overestimate yourself.” the pirate said.

Cough!

With a cough Dia drew their attention. “Your name is James Hook and that is your spirit item, the Jolly Roger.”

You have named a boss James Hook and a spirit item, Jolly Roger.

Spirit Boat, Jolly Roger

A spirit boat with the capability to grow depending on the number of crew recruited by its captain, James Hook. The boat is linked spiritually to its captain and should he die completely, the second in command will become the new captain. This boat is unique and is capable of flying through the air with magic. It produces a magic similar to fairy dust, but cannot be spread and instead the crew and captain are infected with this magic becoming incapable of forming a bond with a companion fairy

When this spirit item reaches a large enough size, it will develop self defense weapons that can be manned by the crew. Ammo will also form through mana gathered by the spirit item itself.

After a certain size, this ship will develop sentience and form a figurehead that will gain the ability to talk.

The boat shifted and began to shine before lifting off the ground and straightening up as it became airborne instead of being leaning.

“Haha! My Jolly Roger, let us explore the winds!” Hook said jumping on it and suddenly pulling out a saber and pointing up. This caused a strong wind to blow while the sails magically fell down, caught the wind perfectly and manned itself flying up into the air as Hook laughed.

“Hey! Hook! Get back here, I'm not done!” Pan said and flew into the air followed by the squeaking tinker fairy.

The others just watched and soon Waid began to laugh. “I really wonder how strong that boss is!” He laughed.

“He is strong! You saw! He controlled the wind!” Dia said.

He laughed and called a jellyfish and after some tinkering, the hundreds of tentacles grouped up into only eight before the body became larger. The new Balloon Octopus dropped down unable to be buoyant anymore, but after jumping into the cloud water nearby, it soon inflated somehow and took to the air and not just it, but several dozen other jellyfish that evolved after it had.

Dia pouted but sighed, “Hmph, at least they aren’t ugly. They just look like the same slimy octopus from the ocean.” She said.

“Hey, it was hard just to make it so stable like that!” He complained.

Dia shrugged and looked at her pond. “Now I need to wait!” She pouted, “I used all the mana to make the captain and Peter.” She said and sighed.

“I'm going to go play with Jack.” She said suddenly and turned.

“Hey! Wait for me!” Waid said suddenly running after her.
