《Binary Blood》Ark 1 : Dragon Age - Chapter 12

I glanced back to Eva after my moment of peace, “There are still a bunch of things that make no sense to me..”
She gazed around the room taking in the sights though there was not much to see except the dead deep-stalker, to my surprise the egg was still where I remembered it to be. I frowned at the sight, how did the egg make it into my hallucinations, for that matter how did the spider make in. I understood that the hallucinations made no sense, a fever dream had played upon my already existing mental problems. Still, I had to have gotten the idea from somewhere, I knew very little about hallucinations. I had not previously experienced them nor did I know anyone else that did experience them.
Eva spoke up, my attention went back towards her. “I don't know what I can explain, I have no experience with this kind of thing myself. But you can always ask me.”
I rolled my shoulders, feeling the sore muscles I hissed. “Let's start with something that bothers me, how did I already know of Venatoria before you introduced her to me. I was hallucinating, but I doubt I suddenly became clairvoyant.” I paused for a moment, I thought it over, what if the poison and venom or whatever had actually granted me some tainted version of clairvoyance for a while. Who knows what is possible with all these wacky things that had happened lately. “Unless I actually DID become clairvoyant.”
She smiled then shook her head. “I doubt that you became clairvoyant, Venatoria told me that she spoke to you while you were.... dreaming. I think that presence in some odd way is what put her into these hallucinations.”
“But I also dreamed about you, from YOUR point of view, how does that make any sense. Also were did I get the dwarves from, I'm creative but imagining a whole army of dwarves?”

“Well maybe you hallucinated that part about me because I was here talking to you?”
I sighed and tried to set my thoughts in order, a task much harder than it had any right to be. After a few minutes I gave up. “Well, personally I'd like to keep my fever insanity in the past. What do we do from here though?”
“Well you need to rest up, you can't do much with your muscles being semi-jelly at the moment. Most of the packs survived the battle, surprisingly enough the spawn left them alone. We have enough food to last us for a while. Hooray for military rations.”
I rolled my eyes, “My faavouriiiite...”
She grinned, “Well it's what we have, it will have to do. Unless you feel in the mood for a deep-stalker steak with some tainted flesh side-dishes!”
“Yea no thanks, I'll stick with the red beans and the...” I was cut off by a low rumbling noise, the cavern shook. The ceiling started cracking, I cursed. Eva noticed the cracks, and started frantically pulling at me to get me out of the small cavern. A piece of the ceiling fell down crashing down next to me, nearly smashing my leg. I tried to help her move me, but my muscles were unresponsive. I cursed, “Just get out of here!” I yelled at her.
She pulled at my shoulders grasping the collar of my uniform. “Don't be an idiot, I'm not leaving you here.”
“You won't make it!” I roared, glancing towards the ever-growing cracks in the ceiling. “We need the points and I'm deadweight! GO!”
Eva cursed but kept frantically tugging at my collar. She barely managed to move me a few inches, strength was not her strong suit. “Leave EVA! I'll see you on the other side!”

I could feel her hesitate for a brief moment before cursing, she let go of my collar and ran off. Muttering barely audible curses in the meantime. I tried to crawl further on my own to no avail. After a few brief moments of struggle, I let myself sink back into the floor and watched as the cracks spread ever further through the ceiling.
A large piece of rock broke off and smashed my leg. I hissed at the expected pain, only to feel nothing. I smiled grimly to myself, “Guess the paralytic poison is still working somewhat.” I chuckled before sinking into another coughing fit. A little spot of luck in the darkest moments, I saw the cracks spreading to the rocks directly above me. I cursed as I watched them spread, the rock broke loose.
“Fuck m-” The boulder smashed down, cutting me off. With a surge and a deep breath, I sat up in my bed in the pub. I rubbed my temple's, from surviving a battle that should have killed me into a fever dream because I was under the effect of various poisons Which I miraculously survived, to getting killed by a random cave-in. I chuckled, fuck this life. I rolled my shoulders and got up. I walked to the door and opened it, In the hallway I saw the other three waiting for me. Reginald grinned at me, “Welcome to the land of the living.”
I laughed, “I don't even know how to react to that.”
Ivan smiled and patted me on the back, Aviva nodded towards me, I returned the nod. “Well, let's go see how Eva is doing.”
I walked towards the rest back towards the hub, The doc's team was already waiting there, I nodded towards them and received greetings in return. Everyone was hanging around on couches, Eva had been put up on the big screen on the wall. Everyone was watching her progress.

Sexy Sect Babes
“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!

Shifted
After the world is almost entirely overrun by a mysterious force known only as the Spread, individual cities struggle to survive behind Barriers with limited resources under the direct supervision of the richest among them. Accidentally overhearing a plot by his city's leader to doom a large swathe of the population, Lysander Badeaux concocts a last ditch slapdash plan to save them. Enlisting the help of the city's most feared assassin, the Red Morn, he sets out to fix what's broken, only to stumble upon more than he bargained for in the process. With Red keeping a host of secrets from him--and not to mention following him around for some inexplicable reason--Lysander may just bumble his way into a conspiracy or a magic world or, if he's excessively unlucky (and he is), both.
