《The Undead Revolution》Interlude - Q&A
Advertisement
As I'm lowering my weekly chapters to two, I thought I'd make a Q&A chapter where I take questions or stuff from the comments and reviews and answer them. I hope I don't create some plot holes somewhere by answering them lol
1 - Emotions are blocked only sometimes, how does it actually work?
That's the whole point: it really doesn't work very well. If you believe you can work perfectly fine with a new personality/being inside your head, good for you really. Silvy and the undead core are not used to one another, and that's why their interactions are not exactly logical. The undead core doesn't seal Silvy's emotions, but it dampens and suppresses them, sometimes.
2 - She lived in the slums for four years, she isn't paranoid, scared, is not a good criminal, and she trusted an archmage like an idiot.
Yep, that's right. Living in the slums doesn't mean you are good at it. I was hoping the level 2 in [Shoplifter] was enough of a suggestion, together with the fact that most of her lies are seen through. The point is, she sucks at being a criminal, at lying, being paranoid or stealing from others. But wasn't she second in command? Yes, and most people in power are there because meritocracy is a thing. Please, corruption is everywhere in our world, where information about scandals is everywhere. In a world where information is slow, the positions of powers are occupied through nepotism, favoritism or sexual favors, just like ours. In Silvy's case, Rat was simply infatuated.
3 - Magic is not enough magical.
Yes, I didn't want a world where a simple mage would be so powerful it wasn't fair. Magic has strengths and weaknesses, like everything else.
4 - World already seen a thousand times, monsters are bland
I mean, I could have started with a Cthulhu, but given that she's seen like ten monsters in total, all of low/mid-level, I didn't exactly go wild. And the world is "already seen" for a reason, even if it won't be revealed for quite some time.
5 - Can people get Skills without leveling up?
Yep, they need training, though. And they receive them only when going to sleep.
6 - Do liches not exist in this world?
Read and find out
7 - Is there non-rune magic?
Depends on your definition of magic. Mages cast spells with runes, no other way. But magic items work using monster cores, no rune involved. Moreover, some monsters have build-in magical powers that don't need runes to work, like the shadow wolfs blending in with shadows.

8 - Martial arts that use mana?
Read and find out
9 - Can someone become a dragon with magic shapeshifting?
Yes and no. First, it'd take a long, long time to do it, and a lot of pain, together with extensive knowledge of how the heck is a dragon made, even internally. Moreover, even if someone actually does that, the mind would remain of a human. That means no knowledge on how to fly, no intrinsic magic dragons have, and all the problems someone would have when being transferred in a body of a completely different species.
10 - Is she going to be the Queen of undead?
Wouldn't you like to know?
11 - Is there an undead disposal church?
Not really. There is a God for each sapient species, and each sapient species has a church revolving around this God. [Priests] receive power from Gods in the form of holy spells, which are very effective against undeads. So, there isn't something dedicated to the disposal of undeads, but you may say it's one of their tasks if a horde is found. That might change in the future, who knows.
12 - Did Silvy had the elemental core at the start?
Yep. I'm not sure I want to say more, but it'll be explained, don't worry.
13 - So are they going for the undead world conquest? Can they level up to get classes and Skills like Silvy too?
Woah there cowboy, I'm not answering that! Read and find out
14 - Isn't the Treant intelligence too abnormal?
Is it? It followed the same pattern in both fights, first fighting with branches and then getting closer with its roots. If Hethe and her group hadn't stopped her, he would've tried to crush them as it tried with Silvy, and if it failed, it would've done the same thing it did with Silvy, creating a trap.
15 - If the female team protects women, why didn't they stop Silvy?
Because they know you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved. And how would they do it? Would they kidnap her? They couldn't do anything, so they let her go hoping for the best.
16 - Six levels from landing a couple of hits against the killer of the orphans? Isn't that a lot?
Yes, that's a lot, but you've seen Zatha's strength now, on par with Eiram, a gold rank adventurer. The system rewards those who go beyond their limits, completing feats against all odds. Would some like Silvy ever be able to win a fight against a gold rank? Nope. Land a hit? Nope. Survive a deadly fight against them? Nope again. She did land a hit and survive to tell the tale, something that went above and beyond what it was possible, and that's why the reward was so substantial.

17 - Why doing such a widespread spell and destroy half the slums?
Because the elemental had never been able to cast an advanced spell and wanted to do it, simple as that. Silvy wasn't able to stop it, she wasn't even sure she wanted to. Try to understand who you are when you are interconnected with two more minds with their memories and knowledge.
18 - Trusted the archmage without a truth tablet.
Imagine yourself in this situation. You have someone in front of you that is very interested in what you are. This someone has the power to raze a freaking city to the ground with a snap of its finger. Now, tell me you have the balls to make any request at this person, and you'd be lying. And now, tell me your twelve years old self could do it. Yeah, I don't think you could.
19 - Why didn't the city question the mages for the investigation of the slum incident?
It's all about gain and losses. To one side, you have [Mages], people who are powerful and useful to the war and civilization in general. On the other, you've got a bunch of poor people who don't pay taxes and are mostly useless to nobles. Do you think nobles would risk stepping on some [Mages] or [Archmages] toes for a bunch of no ones? If an [Archmages] tells them they didn't do it, they didn't do it, end of the story.
20 - Seems stupid to play the game with guild master, her secrets are important.
Oh, yes, it's stupid. For a grown adult, who knows what the repercussion of this power would bring. For a twelve years old who barely knows the world around her? Not really. She knows it's important, but how much? Can she give a value to it when she has no comparison?
21 - Why didn't her arm regrow like her neck? (chapter 2)
Mostly I did that to symbolize the core adapting to her body. Many stories forget about this part, making people adapt to changes to their body without problems. Hell, I personally had to go around with crutches during my teens because I had grown so fast the bones in my knees were still cartilage, and walking hurt like hell. A new being inside myself? That would take so long to adapt to. The elemental didn't take long because it's a monster, but that doesn't mean it's instantly compatible and working at full capacity.
22 - You should write "The Undead Revolution is NOT an isekai type of novel. MC lived in some ghetto without parents for years and can be pretty clueless. This is the story of her rise" type of thing on every chapter.
You know, I'll probably add it to the first chapter, in the pre-chapter notes lmao.
23 - Is italics:undead, bold: elemental, and normal:her? (chapter 15)
Yes, and things switched out sometimes because they were as one, with access to each other's memories and knowledge at the same time, confusing who they were at times. They were all confused by it, don't worry.
24 - You type "ehi" a lot. Do you mean "hey" or "hi" or some such?
Yes, I changed that, thanks. Guess my Italian is showing! Mamma mia! (by the way that's actually something we say, but not as Mario does ahaha)
25 - She has no isekai background to know the concept of farming exp
There is no "farming exp" in this world (for now *wink* *wink*). The levels gained through repetitions are limited, and to get stronger you need to challenge yourself more and more.
26 - Chilog sounds like a cute name for a chili hot dog.
Lmao I never noticed. I'm going to use that as the royal symbol ahaha (JK or maybe not)
27 - Can the undead core hibernate or close its magic flow to allow Silvy to use healing potions?
Nope, it doesn't work like that. Explained in chapter 24, one ingredient of healing potions is holy water, highly destructive for undeads. I'll go in more detail later on how it affects them, but for now it's sufficient.
28 - Stupidly challenging the Treant and losing her limbs had no consequence?
She was becoming bolder and bolder because of her powers, even if she wasn't strong enough. Was there no consequence? She lost a weapon she had no idea what power held, for no other reason than confidence based on nothing but her boldness.
That's it for now. I might or might not answer questions in the comments, depending on how I feel about it.

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
