《Wildling》Two

I blinked back into existence. There was, quite simply, no other way to put it.
Granted, existence might have been a little strong. The room—if it was a room at all—was endless and white, with nothing to demarcate the walls from the ceiling or even from the ground I stood upon.
a feminine voice said, sounding from between my ears.
“What the hell is going on?” I said, spinning in place, trying to figure out who was speaking and from where. “Where am I? What even is this?”
the voice said, familiar all of a sudden. The Child from the store?
I said.
the Child said,
Every single muscle in my body locked up at the exact same moment, and I toppled over, landing hard on my shoulder.
the voice said,
I tried to nod. It didn’t work.
Ezzie said,
I nodded. Only I hadn’t been trying to nod—something had compelled me to.
She wasn’t wrong there. A couple years ago, the crew and I had stumbled across a deserted comic book store tucked away within an especially filthy alley.
We’d picked the store clean, then spent weeks daydreaming whole worlds into existence, whittling figurines out of firewood, plotting out road maps to fictional glory on whatever scraps of paper we could get our grubby little hands on.
We weren’t even sure how to play most of the games—none of us could read very well—but nobody seemed to care. It just felt so good to get away from everything for a little while, even though we all knew that the pretending would have to end eventually.
Ezzie said,
Two blue, translucent windows appeared in the center of my vision:

Ezzie said,
“I’m not doing this,” I said aloud. “I’m not going to play at whatever game this—” I cut off; my head was pounding. I reached up and pinched the bridge of my nose.
The pain ratcheted up from headache to migraine, then kept intensifying until it felt like a pair of dull daggers were being driven into my eye sockets.
Ezzie said.
“Brawler,” I said. The pain plateaued but didn’t disappear.
Ezzie said.
I gritted my teeth. The pain was too much; it was all I could think about.

More prompts, then, in the form of a wall of text written in bright red lettering:

Ezzie said.
I said.
Ezzie sighed through the link.
Didn’t seem like I had much of a choice. I said.
Another prompt, then:
A {Contract} has been added to your special inventory. This item does not occupy inventory space.
Ezzie said.
“Wait, what?”
The floor dropped out beneath me.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

Tower of Hell
A wicked tale of good, evil, and everything in between. This web novel follows eighteen-year-old Jonas Ariel and his dangerous adventure through the Tower of Hell, searching for his older brother. Jonas is a daring youth who attempts to climb the harsh social climate of Hell, all while training himself to master a strange, evil power called Sin. However, in his crusade to be reunited with his beloved brother, Jonas stumbles upon a world of shadow and blood, where he later learns that his being is much more significant than he once thought. How could an orphan from Kansas have so much impact on the fate of Hell? Tower of Hell is an adult 18+ story, viewer discretion is advised. This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events, and incidents are the products of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. © 2022 Chaosverser Web Novels

The Key of the Ancients
Unknown to all races, due to its corruption and faithlessness, the destruction of the universe and all its inhabitants were already set by the Gods of the Ancients, paving the way for their idea of creating a new world. But one of the Gods objected, and created a key that could save the creation from the brink of destruction. Alcee Salva had always wanted to live peacefully, aiming to become the most reveled fowler in his generation. But, fate dictated for him to be the key in opening the magical world that was hidden by the Gods of the the Ancients to all creation. On his 12th birthday, his destiny was fulfilled, and 10 individuals of different races and of different universe were forced to stand up and journey to the world of the Gods to face their verdict, and if possible, stop it. Deviant's Masquerade: Get Ink'd (A Toon Villain Quest/RPG)
Joshua Durand has always lived in someone else’s shadow, a side character in someone else’s show. His brother was the real hero of the tale, or he was until his ‘friends’ stabbed him in the back. Now though, he’s got a chance to step into the spotlight, as long as he’s willing to make a deal with the devil. He doesn’t know if this is the right decision or the wrong one, but what he does know is “It’s showtime!” --- This is forum quest story taking place in the same city/setting as my other stories: The Huntsman's Quest and Hacking Reality stories meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes. Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.
