《Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)》Entry 17: Breadth-First

Dear Spellbook,
Did you know the Parlor has a lovely breakfast buffet? It ends at 10:30, but I have been missing out on an amazing assortment of breakfast meats. I think I may have gone a little overboard on sleeping in. I noticed the buffet on my way out this morning and ran through my minion set up, and got back here just in time to sit down as the staff came out to clear the buffet. The restraint they showed in not letting their irritation show on their faces was admirable, but I could tell. They were not happy with me.
I ate a very large plate of breakfast meats, which I think I will come to regret, and am now sitting here sipping some coffee and writing in you. This stuff really grew on me. I thought I’d left it behind when I discovered those potions, but this brew has a magic of its own. The plan for today is to go out and finally start exploring the wilderness around the town. Show me my leads
Leads:
Giant north of the town Outlaws out in forest ruins. Investigate runes Baths Giant goat Dwarven caravan
These leads are terrible. I think I need to take a page from my father’s book. After these last weeks of observations, I am fairly certain that if I am not the only person aware of these resets, the others are either more circumspect than I, or are not in Crossroads. In either case, it doesn’t serve me to stay in my room any longer. I must begin in earnest on the next phase of my plan, and find a way out of the reset.
When my family would get to a new town, and my father got access to the libraries there-in, he would always start by performing what he called a breadth-first investigation. He would go to each library, peruse the catalogue and make a list of any books of note. Only after he had visited every library would he choose the one to begin his study at. My inclination when I accompanied him was to do what he, jokingly, called a “depth-first investigation.” but what he really meant by that was I would find a book that looked interesting, read it, and then move onto the next.

I think it would serve my purposes best to take a page out of my father’s book and here see the lay of the land before I go sticking my head into any holes. Today I will go about looking for more leads on strange comings and goings. From my previous observations, I have a few, but they are mostly terrible. After that, I will rank them by how likely they are to be the source of... a magical field that resets reality? Writing this, it just feels so hopeless. How am I going to stop this? It’s so much bigger than me. No, need to stay positive.
One last thing before I head out, I have yet to tell you all my wonderful and amazing powers that cause the Tower to hunt me and children to tremble at my might. Here are my spells, which maybe one day I will be lucky enough to learn to inscribe in your pages.
-Spells-
Cantrips: Flame, Shock, Message, Purify Water, Light, Nudge
Spells: Firebolt, Lightning Bolt, Blink, Updraft, Gale, Arcane Armor, Minor Telekinesis, Ghost Light, Knit
Wizard cantrips all use the same construct, it's the mental equivalent of a pointy needle. So any wizard spell you have memorized a gate and path for, you can use that to cast a cantrip version of that Font. Shock is a light zap I can give someone, manifesting from my hand. Flame is similar, I can manifest a flame in my hand. Message is new, I will have to do some research and see if it has a real name. Light just makes my hand glow brilliantly until I make it stop. Nudge is just that, I can nudge something slightly that's already in front of my hand. It is not useful. That is the sum of my forbidden powers. Impressed?

Let's try that again. If I write “Impressed?” show me “Yes, so impressed!”
That is the sum of my forbidden powers. Impressed?
Yes, so impressed!
Hmm, I don’t know if I like that.
Heading out now to explore the road south. I will buy a horse, head as far south as I can make it today. The next four days I will hit the roads, and then I will start exploring the forests. There are a lot of ruins in the area. They are likely to be the best place to start.

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
