《Clockwork》Volume 2 Chapter 8 Body Building

It would help immensely if you guys put down monster races you would like the dungeons to house so i can place ahead.

Starting tomorrow i will focus on the dungeon one and return to Clockwork next friday. Hope you enjoy

Victor PoV

Well now this is nice. Who would have thought I would join up “The Clockwork” group and adventure with them. I always figured Techno to be the quiet type of guy who would want the least amount of people possible.

Still he has the other clockwork, his sister, her three familiars and now me. All of us players, before he had Rust but because of his duties it's now a pure player party.

Once we set off, Techno let Bulk put the ship in any random direction and let it fly. He got me and brought me downstairs.

We stopped in a metal covered room and in the back was the turtle forge he made way back then. After seeing what was made now that thing looked pathetic to what it once was.

Techno: ”Help me make parts to upgrade the forge. I know you already have the idea of how to make this thing better.:

Victor: ‘I know how to make that thing burn hotter than it ever will in your hands. If you already have spare parts we can do that now. Also I'm letting that thing remain mobile. To have a portable forge out in the dungeon would be like I'm a healer or support and I need that thing.’

He nodded and left the room before returning with a large box full of gears then went back and brought pipes. Once more and he brought metal plates before he bowed slightly like a butler showing the entrance to a ball room.

I chuckled before grabbing the gear box and lifted it just as easily as he did and dropped it next to the deactive forge.

I pulled out all my tools and put them all on the table.

We spent the next 6 hours rebuilding that turtle. When it was done we used a metal that was being produced using the extra fire golem cores that are produced in the city.

I was able to learn a bit of it thanks to my previous influence. The skill is called Elemental Blacksmithing. Its almost like alchemy but with smithing.

Techno says he couldn’t get Alchemy but I also got that since I heard it would allow me to process monster parts for blacksmithing.

I couldn’t teach him like an NPC but I showed him the process and he did some of it by himself until he got it.

Its kind of hard to level this skill up without learning a bit about potion making or having a lot of monster stuff so we left it alone but he did use quite a number of his stored fire cores to learn the skill so we gained a bit of Fire Iron.

This stuff is at least 50% more resistant to heat and won’t melt unless it’s under massive amounts of blue flames for a very large amount of time. I think the melting temperature was around 3000 degrees. Iron melts at 1200 more or less so with this kind of protection we can ramp up the heat inside this thing to near volcano heat.

With the forge ready for mass production we have it start up and start melting the iron which will make steel. Though we have steel parts we still need to build the skeleton of the bodies Techno is making for himself and the others.

We are starting with his body.

He sent me a blueprint schematic of what his body would look like. To tell the truth it was 2 bodies we were making for him.

One was his main body which will be a pure mechanic while the other a knight class made purely for combat.

I laughed at the models because they were both based of gods.

When I think about the clockworks I've seen up until now. Unless they were robots we always chained ourselves to the human shape with 2 arms and 2 legs.

What Techno wants to do will definitely make him one of the top players. He also shows me the blueprints for Bulk and Nova’s upgrades and what we will do with the other.

Nova’s looked a bit scary seeing the weapons he was going to add to her, not to mention the massive remodelling of the Protector to support her. It could be said that he was making a completely new model of protector specially for her.

Bulks had a bit more comic twist to it. It reminded me of a spiderman movie I watched near the end.

I can’t wait until we put him in this body. Animal styled robots are really strong.

With our plans thought out we move on to the skeleton.

We need to be careful with exactly how much earth cores we use in the metal. We want to make a tougher skeleton so we can make more lightweight bodies. Golem cores are known to make metals stronger without making them heavier or too hard to work with. Since we are using trace amounts so that the level requirements do rise it would be easier to say we are trying something similar to making steel while adding an extra ingredient.

If we put too much powdered cores then the metal will change too much so its like cooking. Not to much salt or it will come out bad.

I already knew how much for both fire and earth golems cores since I had enough time to learn that in the forges at South Gate City.

The cores were grinded into a fine powder and with a pinch I throw into molten iron that was already liquid from the heat. With that we make the turtle start eating coal and start mixing the coal and iron into steel.

While that happened I prepared molds for the skeleton. The first body would have Techno’s real world size but with a lightweight knight like body armor to hide the tools inside.

A clockwork skeleton is rather simple but techno made it a bit more complex to improve flexibility and work more natural like a humans.

The skeleton would have a lot more smaller parts then the normal one and the wiring would pass through them like the nerves do. This is mostly to protect wires from the gears. We will then connect them with ball joints.

By the end it would be an extra strong steel skeleton.

We get to it and start making all the parts.

We work through the night making the parts and build them. The skull piece was also made and the wiring was done then. We added the hooks to hold the body and passed the wires to keep the body from falling apart.

We then begin building the gears with the steel gears on to the body. Small hooks were placed to get the first few in, then we added the plates and started the rest.

Techno let me continue the body and he went making a new engine.

We spend one more day on this body. The gears weren’t made to complex. It was more so than normal but by maybe 10 or 15 extra gears then normal in every body part.

It wasn’t to hard to make it.

I finish as night fell and Techno as well. The engine he made was rather impressive. It looked more like a car one with pistons but it worked with steam pressure since the pistons weren’t so tense that the pressure wouldn’t push.

We installed the pipes and then took apart all the tools from his current body.

We installed new swords since they don’t take up much space and then on the robot's arms we put the rest tools.

Besides the swords no other weapons were placed.

His first body came out looking like a scaled plate armor impersonation of the indies god Yasha.

The four armed god that uses spears.

I switch his motherboard with his new body. When he finally comes online again he checks his stats.

From his old stats he said he was only 10% away from his old stats which is probably due to the size.

These were the stats he showed me. The only thing that was better was toughness which was 5% away from the original and his dexterity which was higher than the originally.

He starts trying to move the second pair of arms behind his normal pair. The arms are like normal ones but he is having trouble with them since we don’t normally have them.

Victor: ‘You can make programs right? Why not design a software to help out. I’m sure your processor can als be remodeled to allow you to use it.

We leave that for later. We finish taking apart the huge knight and remove its arm and shoulder area.

We make new skeleton parts and replace the old ones. Then while I build the new parts he makes a new engine for this body as well and remodels his weapons.

He also took some weapons that were left lying around the storage and began setting them up.

I’m kind of scared of the combat robot. The thing is nearly as heavily armed as what he plans for Bulk.

We finishes off the weapons as I finish the skeleton parts. We replace the parts and then remodel the torso so it could handle the three pairs of arms we were making. Yep the Knight he used was being converted into an interpretation of Asura. This thing is scary thats for sure.

Each arm holds a sword while they have different weapons as will. The front pair have rifles. The middle pair have miniguns similar to the protector and the back arms have a grenade launcher which opens around the wrist similar to the rifle. All the arms have the pressure punch as well. It has scary power.

With his Mechanic class in one body and his knight in another he was going to clearly take combat to a whole new level with these two bodies.

I’m sure he is already preparing his programming skill as well to get the extra arms working.

Once the body was built we replaced every gear with steel and plate as well. All in all the body turned out to have nearly 20% more physical stats then he originally had. To make things stranger, scanning the body brought up a status window.

What came after completing this caused me to laugh. I really like being around these guys.

You have helped build set robots.

A set robot is a pair that works in unison with one being the main body used as a support unit and another body used for combat.

+1 level blacksmithing

+3 strength

+4 Intelligence

+4 Wisdom

If I can help it I won’t leave Techno’s team ever. This guy attracts unique events.

We moved on to Bulk. We had the earth golem take the helm and told bulk to log off for about 2 game days. I was kind of getting tired already but I knew Techno isn’t. We took Hino, the rhino bot he had and Bulks current knight body.

We took apart both robots and mixed them.

The Rhinos torso was changed into a structure similar to the knights and equipped. The legs were reinforced and made with a mechanism that would change its form to match the rhinos natural leg so it can charge at full speed.

We went all out and finished at the setting of the second day after telling Bulk to log off. At this point I also needed to log off and go to sleep. It was nearly five days I was in there and was starving and sleepy.

Techno continued putting finishing touches to the weapons.

When I returned he had already finished up Bulks body, made Nova’s body and was finishing the Protector.

Bulk got a new class called Rhino Knight. Its similar to the Gorilla Tanks. Compared to his original steel body his physical stats are at least 15% better and his toughness even more.

Nova remained sniper but got a much more dangerous sniper rifle that required only 2 minutes for cool down. Not only that she got better rifles on her arms, handguns and an assortment of other smaller gadgets. The Protectors had his Miniguns remodeled.

It maintained the same body shape but new weapons were added as well as an engine. He was also using all four arms skillfully.

He told me he made a software program after he repaired his corrupt codes. My jaw fell when he told me that fixing all his codes gave him nearly 200 intelligence and Wisdom. Though it seems useless to a robot who can’t use magic it actually is balanced out. Races that can’t use magic instead can learn things easier the higher these two stats are high. His potential to learn something quicker is faster than others. Think of it as getting photographic memories. He catches things better.

I walk outside to get some air and find the earth golem, Brock I think it is, sitting on the upper deck looking up while holding an earth core. I sit next to him and look out into the partly cloudy white and blue sky with the brownish black earth below.

Victor: ‘Something on your mind?’

Brock: ‘Hmm...Well I was wondering if I was lucky or unlucky.’

Victor: ‘About what?’

Brock: ‘Getting caught here. Not getting an option to restart my character?’

Victor: ‘I’m not so religious but I would say fate has its reasons. Who knows if you will do something great or just fade away while here here. Even I don’t know if I will be of greater help besides a simple smith.’

Brock: ‘We saw the robots you guys made. They look like monsters.’

Victor: ‘It was designed by Techno. Its quite amazing how much he learned from this game. He has great memory and even things that are fed to him by the game he probably remembers.’

Brock: ‘That's what I mean. He uses me to get minerals, Blaze and Ena are his flame controllers, we haven’t done much to anything besides that.’

Victor: ‘Well I can’t help much in that regard. You should find your own things to do. Why not study your own race a bit. Those cores are some good stuff. You can make after gathering mana and minerals.’

Brock: ‘That is simple farming me for these.’

He tosses me the newly made core and I look it over. It was still poor quality but it was better than most other ones I saw here. As he levels up it might go up as well.

Brock: ‘Did you know I can make puppet golems using my own cores. I learned about it in the forums. Water and wind elementals are doing that to go around solo. I wonder how good each would be.’

Victor: ‘I bet as good as the collector drones techno uses.’

I said that clearly showing my comparison. Ever since I met Gaia and Bulk told me about her race, I noticed the similarities between Clockwork and Golems.

He looks over and takes the core from my hands and lets it roll on his human like rock hands.

Brock: ‘Who knows right. Still there is nothing to do. Maybe if we look well enough we can soon find some great dungeon in the sky.’

He started laughing and me with him. I stood up and looked out before I frowned.

Victor: ‘Damn, how long did you know that was there?’

Brock: ‘What?’

He stood up and looked with me out the right side of the ship.

Far off rising above the clouds as if surfacing from the ocean. The figure of a humongous whale could be seen. Even from far away we could tell it was a giant mass of rock.

You have discovered the flying Earth Spirit Menthol. One of the last remaining of his race, he is from an ancient earth element race that once roamed the skies and his back is home to countless beings. It is a pure unpolluted land as the land on his back is away from the toxins on the ground and he lives above clouds so polluted rains rarely reach him.

This race of elementals are also known to house dungeons of all difficulties and can hold great treasures both historical and knowledge.

Victor: ‘Call Techno, we found dungeons to grind in.’

Brock: ‘Uh huh’

He nodded and ran off while leaving me to watch the massive island while appear over the clouds.
